[Q] CM11 Alarm sound issue - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all.
As I'm new to this forum, can't write replay to developer's branch.
Related to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2607025&page=22 discussion and bluehacker007 post (2nd April 2014, 02:17 AM):
Just did a full wipe and clean install of latest build and have been having an issue with the alarm. The alarm will go off but it will only ring once. After that it will just show the alarm animation on the screen but make no noise. I let it go for 5 minutes until the alarm just gets cancelled and there is no further sound. The alarm will then show up in notifications as a missed alarm.
Is this specific to this rom? is anyone else having this problem?

No any real fix was suggested, as I see. Has anything changed after 4 moths?
I installed latest "snapshot" version cm-11-20140804-SNAPSHOT-M9-mako.zip from official cyanogenmod site (http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=mako) for my Nexus 4. But as mentioned about only preinstalled ringtones are played in a loop. If I choose any of my media file, it rings only ones and after that - silent with (or without, as specified) vibration and alarm animation. Any help?

No reply.. Sad.
Found quick solution. Looks like issue is related to media format. After conversion to ogg alarm sound is played in a loop as expected.

alarm clock problem

Since updating to the custom 2.0 Rom I'm experiencing a problem with the alarm clock. When setting an alarm the phone will only vibrate, no audio is played. This happens for all alarm sounds available, even if I try setting a custom alarm set with ring droid.
Has anyone else experienced this or knows of a fix. Would it be possible to just re install the clock app?

Alarm vibration don't work!

Hello!
I need help with something.
I have flashed the new ICS REMIX V1.0 and I can not get the vibrator to work when the alarm goes off.
How to get the vibrator to work when the alarm starts up?
I run with remix new v1.0. But that still does not vibrate even though I set it to vibrate. There is such a setting in the alarm settings, but that still does not vibrate and I sleep away half the day.
One of those people who I sleep so deeply that I can hardly hear the alarm signal ..
Anyone else having the same problem? Or is it just a problem in this ROM?
I'd rather not go back and flash the original ROM, I really like this remix v1.0 otherwise.
Would be so nice if someone could help.
Thanks

[Q] fade in alarm

I installed cm9 on my phone and I was wondering if there was a way to get the fade in alarm tone that is available on stock moto. I find myself being able to wake up a lot more easily compared to the standard ones that blare as soon as it's supposed to come on.
AlarmClock Pro app will allow you to fade any alarm tone in and out as needed

[Q] Stock alarm clock is being unreliable?

Has anyone else been having problems with the stock alarm clock on the Galaxy S4? Mine seems to be unreliable. Goes off one morning, but not the next. But is random when it works and doesn't.
Current settings:
Android: 4.2.2
Carrier: Verizon
Time: 7am
Days: MTWTF
Repeat Weekly: Checked
Alarm type: Vibration and Melody
Alarm tone: Journey
Sound: Maxed
Location alarm: off
Snooze: off
Smart alarm: off
In "menu" outside that section I have "voice control" off.
Not rooted, no other ROM. Just default, stock Verizon Galaxy S4.
Before I go to bed I double check to make sure my alarm is on and sound is at the max (not in vibration or silent mode). Power saving mode is "off". I have no task killers. I do close all my apps using the default android task manager. But then I turn the alarm clock back on because I'm paranoid. But none of this seems to help.
I've tried factory reset, that didn't seem to help as it still sometimes goes off and sometimes doesn't. I have not tried any other alarms than the stock one. I will be trying one (any suggestions?) and updating this to let you know if it worked. But until then, it would be cool to see if I'm not the only one having this issue and to see if anyone else has solved this!
Thanks!

I use the alarm every day as well, and have not had a problem with it not going off. Are you using one of the stock alarm tones, or a custom song/sound? I have used both without issues, but if you're using something other than a stock tone, maybe try one of those to see if it's an issue with your audio file.
Edit: I see that it's called "Journey" so that may be a stock tone. I guess I'm not sure then

Correct, the alarm tone I'm using is a stock tone. It's woken me up before, so I don't think I'm sleeping through it haha. My only guess is my phone is somehow going into a low power state that's not updating the time every minute, therefore the alarm time is sometimes getting skipped and therefore not getting triggered. I just don't know what would be causing this as I have "power saving mode" off and I haven't ran into any other settings that would do this... I do plug my phone in overnight too, so you'd think it would be going full force anyway. But I just recently switched from iOS so I'm still a bit new to the android side of things .

Have you tried running some daytime tests to see if it rings on time? The clock on the lockscreen may only update when the screen is on, but the phone always knows what time it is. If you can get it to skip alarms reliably, maybe take it to a Verizon store and have them swap it out. I've used my cell phone as an alarm for quite a few years (I have a backup as well, but only because I'm pretty good at shutting alarms off in my sleep) and the only times I had trouble was with older phones when I was rooted and running a less-than-stable custom roms.

I did run various tests throughout the day yesterday, have a few set for today too. All went off fine so far. The stock alarm woke me up this morning too. Maybe I just had to break it in haha. I'm worried it will skip again, though, so I'm using my desktop as a backup alarm clock, lol. If it does skip I will more than likely take it to Verizon, as this doesn't seem normal. Haven't tried any non-stock alarm clock apps yet. Guess I should look for a good backup app just in case eh.
No problems here. Use everyday on Stock ROM

I am running the stock ROM and like you have intermittent problems. Very very problematic.

I ended up switching to an app called "Timely". I have had zero issues with myself ever not hearing this app or it not going off. Even if the phone is on vibrate or silent.

yes it's really unreliable not only in your 4.2 s4. it often doesnt go off on my s3 mini too. just download another one.
I was just gonna say I've never had a problem with the stock alarm...and what do you know, this morning it didn't go off. I always wake up no matter how loud or quiet the alarm is so I'm fairly certain I didn't sleep through it.

Alarm clock on Cyanogenmod M & N not reliable

Hi! : )
I have issues with stock alarm clock on CM. It's something that need to be completely reliable, or it's useless.
Sometimes it works well, sometimes don't.
After some hours with the phone on standy (when I'm sleeping), when the alarm sets off it turn the screen on, play 1 sec. of the chosen sound, and it automaticly turns off by itself.
Some time ago I found that if I set the vibration on it worked, but now it's not working anymore, at least it's not working all the times.
One other thing I did was setting clock apps not to be battery optimizes. Don't know exactly if it helped much.
I'm on official CM14.1 build (12/11) with no custom kernel, and today the alarm failed again.
Can someone help, please? Does anyone have the same issues? Maybe it has to do with deep sleep.
I don't want to use non stock apps, I've tried them but then the alarm volume had to be set by de media volume, and I don't want to rely on that setting, I want the alarm volume to be the alarm volume.
Thanks! : )
using RR 5.7.4. based on MM with Radon 3.1 Kernel and never expirienced such a problem. maybe you want to give it a try? since a few weeks im using the sony alarm clock which you can find here on xda, design wise its better in my opinion.
Thanks! I prefer to stick with stock app, I don't mind the design and I don't deslike it either. Really like to get it to work perfectly, so I can rely on it.
I'm using greenify, but I guess it's not affecting it - it never did on other phones and roms.
This app fixed my issue. No more missed alarms. : )

Well ... You don't want to use any other app but then issue is solved with another app ? so I still recommend the Sony alarm clock, no stupid inapp purchases and adverts...
I didn't wanted to used external apps, but I was forced to, since I could not fix my issue any other way. I could try the app you suggest, can you give me a link, please? Thanks for your reply and help. : )
same issue on CM here. seems that if you put the alarm on 'every day' it does usually work fine. Still not very usefull though
