Restore a Single App from Titanium Backup Zip - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I recently made the jump to a Nexus 5, and in the process deleted every backup except one backup ZIP file from a month or two ago. I'm not overly concerned as I only really needed it for my Tasker profiles. The issue is, with a backup ZIP, there is no option to restore a single app. It's all or nothing.
Ideally, I'd like to extract the app data for Tasker, or better yet, just the XML backup file. Is this possible?

Get settings from apps from a Nandroid image

Hello! I didn't know where else to post, so I did it here. Please relocate this topic if it is in the incorrect place because I don't know any better.
Anyway. I've installed AK Notepad on my old ROM and did a Nandroid. I have only one note in there which I'd like to extract. I have extracted the data.img and system.img on my PC and I can find the .apk, but I can't find that one note that was written in there. Is there a way to find it? Or maybe if I can't extract the note, can I copy the settings somewhere in my phone so the AK Notepad will act as if it is that one on the old ROM where I wrote that note?
Um, why don't you just make a new backup, then restore the backup with the note, email or text the note or whatever, then restore your new backup you made, shouldn't take more than ten minutes.
Yes, but still, I would like to know if this is possible.
Ak Notepad APP database internal storage
/data/data/com.akproduction.notepad/databases/aknotepad.db
pretty sure Titanium Backup also lets you install things from nandroid backups. Not sure it it's apps (or apps + data only) or if it'll let you do "data only" restores. But if you've already got it installed, might be worth a shot.

[Q] Titanim backup - how to resore an app from .TiBkp

I've created a backup called "app +data (easy import)".
Now I can't find any option to restore an app from this backup.
Not from dropbox nor from a titanium backup folder.
Titanium does not see this file and says there is no backup for that app.
So how to restore an app from this kind of backup??
Try clicking on the backup file either in Dropbox or the local file system and running it. Titanium Backup will then ask if you want to restore the app and or data. I know I saved my backup in Gmail, and after downloading, I just press view in Gmail itself and TiBackup will show that dialog.

it was enough to update to the nevest verssion.
Now I have a bigger problem.
It does not restore any data of system apps.
Not Go Launcher, nor Go sms, or rom settings are being restored.
I've tried to flash the rom again an then restore - no result.
How to force titanium to restore system apps data?
ps. I was able to do it before. It's just stopped working.
Hi I am having similar problems, backed up using easy backup apk & data, sent via gmail to my other phone with Titanium backup on it, when I open it TB recognises it and says please wait, but nothing happens the app does not install. It is only a widget that I want installed but its not having it :crying:
Also I have a tf101 which is not rooted is there anyway I can unzip without TB to use this free widget as its not on the general market, I have a paid version of TB and using the latest release, but obviously not on the tf101.
Any help appreciated as it is frustrating I cannot save apks to other phones.
Thanks

I never found the correct answer to this question, which - from my experience - is a rather improbable one. This is the answer:
Find your TiBkp file with some kind of file explorer. In my case: I used "root explorer", probably any other one will do as well. Tap on it.
You will see: "No activity found to open this file."
Your options are
a) cancel
b) open as.
Choose "open as".
Now you get a lot of options (I see seven). One of them is: APK file. Choose it.
Now you may select an "option for null" (probably the null refers to the unknown file extension TiBkp) .
The options are: cancel, view and Install.
Choose install.
Now you get the option from Titanium backup to restore your files. And that works perfectly.....
Cheers :victory:
Hello, i Know this thread is old, but i seem to have run into the same problem. My tibkp file is grayed out and i can't access it. and when i navigate to it and try to open it, it won't give an option to open it with Titanium. Help please. Thank you
PS I have a rooted S7 Edge. Thank you
Hm.. I'm having a similar issue: I can't import .TiBKP files anymore; two devices, S6 Edge running SuperSU-rooted nougat, and Tab S2 running magiskSU-rooted nougat (in both cases the nougat itself is from samsung)
Hello im having troubles backing up an app.
Whenever i back up i get three files (.apk .tar and one PROPERTIES) instead of the .TiBkp. I cant restore said files.
Help please.
New phone, Old problem. Trying to use .TiBKP files to migrate apps&settings from my old phone to my new one, rather than just simply copy everything using smart switch, but opening them in Titanium Backup is NOT an option for .TiBKP files.
Any hints?

[Q] titanium backup restore

What's the best way to restore in titanium backup after flashing to a new ROM?
From an apps perspective, have the phone setup the way I want, apps frozen, etc I thought after flashing, I would be able to restore to that setup, but clearly doing something wrong. I do a batch restore and wind up will old apps, unfrozen apps and basically have to do the whole setup over.
Assuming this is user error, and hoping someone can provide insight. Do you create an update.zip and flash to that?
Thanks.
I don't believe you can save frozen app setups and such. All the update.zip does is allow you to flash titanium backup in recovery so you don't have to download it from market again and is just installed as a system app

You can choose what to restore when you you do that batch restore.
Maybe you are not setting it up right?
Every other night i have TB set to backup new data for selected apps,
New versions of selected apps
System data like messages, call logs, etc...
I can then restore them almost perfectly. Opera bookmarks give me fits, but that's about it.

[Q] Titanium backup

hey guys i have a quick question about titanium backup, i did a couple of backups on titanium, is there a way i can restore only the latest backup because when i go to restore it shows me all my apps from my previes backups...
you can restore them 1 by 1, not sure if there is a option to restore only the latest as any backup you do will overwrite the one you did before (if it is them same app), whereas there is for instance an option to only restore apps with data changes if I remember well.

I think if we backup using the pro version, the backup file will be only 1 LATEST BACKUP per app
you can set titanium to keep as many backups as you want, if you only want to restore certain ones, then until the ones you don't want to r restore.....it's not exactly rocket science
I have a problem with restoring some apps' .TiKB files. I have them saved to my BOX account and when in try to import them, some eier work or some just shows operation canceled. Why is this happening?
I used to back up every week until i got a message about running out of space, you only actually need 1 backup in Titanium and maybe keep a spare backup in Dropbox or Box or on your laptop in case, i delete a backup every week after updating apps, restart the phone and then backup so it's a fresh backup.
thats not the hting though. my problem is that i made backups for apps/games for the easy import method(from BOX using the .TiBkp files) and so for some apps/games it lets me restore and some say operation canceled. why does it not let me restore. any idea why?

[Q] Titanium Backup: looking for a better way to preserve older app version APKs

So basically I needed an an APK for an older version of an app and it had already been overwritten. I allow 3 copies of backups with TiBu but my scheduled "redo backups for modified data" overwrites them quite often. I end up with 3 backups of the same app but they're all for the same version. The old version gets deleted because my scheduled "redo backups with modified data" detects new data and then does a new backup.
I wish it would only update the data and not the APK? What's the point of constantly updating the APK for an app when the version is still the same.
Yes, I want it to constantly update the data so I have the latest backup all the time, but it would be nice if it could do that and always save the last 2-3 APK versions as well...
Am I totally missing something here is it just the way it works for now? Thanks for any help!
Seriously, no one responded to this?
Could this setting be the answer?
Settings => Batch Move:
Min age (days) for refresh.
