No, updating has nothing to do with your SIM. But in case I'm wrong, the guys down in Peckham will do it for a tenner.

Thats for unlocking the bootloader, something different, unlocking these phones can be expensive im afraid, i recommend this site because it worked for me and others sonyericssoncodes.com
Thank you. And for example if I unlock the bootloader and flash some new ROM/Kernel etc., it won't solve my problem?
Nope need to unlock sim separately

Hi guys, I bought a Xperia go ST27i from Austria (T-Mobile) and I'm trying to unlock it because of the startup message "SIM network unlock PIN".
I have been looking for a solution on the web for a long time and I haven't found it yet.
Could somebody help me about that?
Thank you.

ok, as far as i know you can remove the SIM lock by entering a network/SIM unlock code. You can usually get one from your provider. You have to pay them of course... :crying:
I know that german T-Mobile phones can be unlocked that way, not sure if its the same in Austria...
Removing the SIM lock does not affect the status of your bootloader! If its locked it will stay locked.

Thank you stothegee, I really apreciate your help!
I have been looking for a topic about it in T-Mobile website and I didn't find nothing good.
In the meanwhile I found this service:
cellfservices com => "unlock-sony-st27i" (I can't post links yet)
Do you know it? I would like to know if it's reliable or not.
Thank you for the help
