Hey folks. Found several threads with similar questions, but none for this device.
I've had my TF201 for around a year now, more or less. In the last month or two I managed to flash CyanogenMod onto it in order to effectively emulate KitKat. Recently however I've decided that in the long run I much preferred the native Asus image for a number of personal reasons.
I'm having serious issues reverting to the stock ROM. I'm using the recovery image found on the second page of this thread. This is the only one I've managed to get operating at all - I tried the 5.8.3.4 version from the CWM site, but it doesn't seem to boot at all.
I attempted to install the stock ROM from the Asus website (I bought the tablet in Canada, so I've tried both the US and WW versions), but I keep getting the following error:
assert failed: write_raw_image("/tmp/blob", "staging")
E:Error in data/media/0/Download/WW_epad-user-10.4.2.18.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
I've done plenty of Googling, but haven't been able to find anything of much help - this thread doesn't seem to apply to TF201 anymore, and most of what else I read tells me to try with other recoveries, but none of these recoveries seem to work. The one I linked to above is the only one I've been able to actually get to boot.
I'm at my wit's end with this. I have no idea what I'm doing wrong, or what else to try. I'm at a loss. I'd greatly appreciate anyone who could walk me through successfully restoring my tablet to its original state.

I've searched and scoured the earth for an answer to this issue but have drawn a blank so far, so thought I'd ask the experts.
Basically I'm not able to install any ROMs on my GT-P7510UW 32 Retail Wireless tablet.
I'm able to get CWM on, I'm able to Root it, but when I try installing a ROM I get a variety of different issues. For example trying to install the Bonsai ROM I get the following :
assert failed: run_program("/tmp/install-script") == 0
E:Error in /sdcard/Bonsai_GT-P7510_v0.3.0.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.
On the StarBurst ROM it just seems to install REALLY quickly, then when I reboot I'm stuck on the Samsung startup screen forever (the very first one reading "Samsung Galaxy TAB 10.1" before you get to Download/Recovery
I've used Odin to get back to Stock, still can't install ROMs.
Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Try task's rom. I run that with pershoots kernel and its perfect. It does take a long time to boot the first time you boot after you flash. Also, after you flash the rom, stay in CWM and format the cache and everything. Then give it some time on the first boot
Hm. How long should it take to actually install the ROM within CWM? It only takes about 10 seconds, if that. Then it says its finished, and I manually initiate a reboot.
I've left it on the loading screen for about 30 minutes and nothing happens after that, so I get the feeling the ROM install just isn't working...
But I'll try Tasks ROM and see how that goes
Same Issues
Is anyone else running into the same problem? I'm getting the exact same issues here.
It is highly recommend not to install 3rd party ROMs. None of the ROMs created by the hobbyists here are as stable and reliable as the stock ROM.
It is highly recommend not to listen to 3rd party posts. None of the posts created by the hoboist here are the mark of a stable and reliable mind

I'm still getting this issue, and it would seem that nobody has an answer?
I've tried about 5 different ROMS, all fail. So it's not a ROM problem.
I've followed all the instructions to the letter, I've read various guides and confirmed I'm doing it right. So is there something different about my Tab that it seems to be screwed and won't allow any ROM installs??
I've also restored to Stock, used a .pit file so re-partioned also. Cleared every sort of data/cache you can mention.
First I would like to say I have gone through a lot of postings looking for an answer to my question so I have looked for my own answers. I also went through many sites outside of this one and haven't found a answer yet. I flashed UltraJack-Recovery v4.6.2 and then installed LeanFUSION V2 and this all went fine. I then decided to restore the original rom and discovered it was corrupted. After two days I finally found a download site that wasn't just a dead link and got the STOCK_ROM_USA_TMO which is 98.6mb. When I tried to install this rom I get " E:No signature (6 files) E:Verification failed Installation aborted." I actually get this type of message with most of the roms I tried. The amount of signatures missing varies but same sort of thing. Anyone who could provide me with a confirmed working factory rom or help with getting the one I have working would be really appreciated. Thanks for any help folks!!
Okay I decided to try installing Clockworkmod Recovery to my u8150 to see if I could get back to the original rom. The Google Apps version doesn't support the Ideos and I am having trouble figuring out how to install the 5.0.2.8 Clockworkmod Recovery by fastboot. I hate to ask for hand holding but I can't seem to figure this out. I really would like to have a bit more variety in roms I can install or returning to the factory rom but the UltraJack Recovery won't get past the unsigned or non verified sections of the roms I want to install. There has got to be someone out there who can help with this stuff. Thanks for any help.....
Hi everyone,
It seems I messed up my Prime and I think I know why it happened. I'll first ask my question and then detail what I think happened at the end. I've been reading around the forums for the past few days and I think I'm experiencing brick number 3 as detailed in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514088 I followed the link provided under option 3 which links to a thread about an Transformer Prime IRC channel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1367016 I logged in into the IRC channel and someone greeted me by asking for the binaries...frankly, I've no idea what to do in that channel.
I was on the stock Asus Jellybean Rom. I used the Asus Unlock tool and installed TWRP via fastboot as explained in their website (installed the JB.blob). Everything worked fine. I then committed a mistake. I was going to perform a data wipe before installing the new ROM (latest CM nightly) but in retrospect I think that I only performed a factory reset. It was my first time using TWRP and when I got into the wipe menu I selected wipe but I recall that the button for wiping read "slide to perform factory reset". I thought that I was wiping the data on my device but I think that I got confused and only performed a factory reset. I didn't realize that at the time and proceeded to flash the new ROM. When I restarted the device it got stuck in the Asus/Nvida splash screen.
I'm able to go into the recovery menu. I've wiped data properly many times after this and flashed CM many times but the device won't get past that splash screen. I tried flashing the ROM via ADB but whenever I enter the command the terminal shows me a list of the actions that can be performed via ADB and nothing else happens.
I've tried looking around for a solution but I've been unable to find one. Should I install/flash a stock blob rom? The links above say it may do more harm than good and no longer advice users to do that but I haven't found any other alternative. There are many threads pertaining this issue but each case is slightly different and I haven't found one that applies to my situation.
I'm mad at myself because I've had flashed so many custom roms on other devices before and had never had any problems whatsoever that I got careless when flashing the Prime. I know this is completely my fault and I don't want to waste anyone's time on this. I just would like for someone to tell me exactly what to read or where to look so that I can try and fix this situation.
just in case...I just remembered that I didn't root before flashing...could that have been the problem?
I was checking out, once again, the options in TWRP and I did wipe the device correctly. I didn't mess up as I once thought. I can't understand why this happened.
Nearly the same problem for me, case n°3 and don't know what to do. I know have a very expensive black mirror...
FIXED
YES! I was able to fix it BUT I'd be careful before trying what I did. Basically, I did what forum members had advised not to do; I flashed the Asus stock rom via fastboot. As I said before I had read plenty about the various issues with the Transformer Prime. I noticed that some people were flashing the stock rom when confronted with my situation and exhorted others to do the same since they had luck with the procedure. After that, it seems plenty of people bricked their devices by following the same procedure. This caused various senior members in XDA to no longer advise others to try to fix their tablet with that method since it was causing more harm than good (see: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1514088)
Sadly, I had no other choice but to try that method. We were advised to go to the #Asus-Transformer IRC channel but, understandingly, there aren't many people participating in that channel (it's very old!. I was able to get assistance from a very helpful (as always) android geek but we couldn't get anything to work since I was having problems with ADB recognizing my device.
So, knowing full well the possible consequences of flashing a stock asus rom I decided to go for it. After all, the worst thing that could happen was to end with a hard bricked device and the soft brick I was experiencing wasn't as different as that (i.e. I couldn't use the device anyway). So I decided to play russian roulette and see what happened. Luckily the rom installed fine and I was able to boot past the, dreadful Asus/nvidia splashscreen! I was super lucky! Even though I'm back to the stock rom I'm happy because I can use my device once again! I really wanted to try out Cyanogen on my tablet but I will have to pass on that...I will never install a custom ROM again on my Prime
So, if anyone is feeling adventurous and has lost all hope then why not play russian roulette and check out what happens when you install the asus stock rom? I downloaded the asus image from here http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=Eee+Pad+Transformer+Prime+TF201&os=32 and followed the instructions here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1680570 (just step three and four at the end since I already had a custom recovery installed). I had to unzip the download twice (it has a zip inside a zip) and copied the blob file into my fastboot directory (in the PC). I then renamed it to "update.blob" and flashed it.
Don't try it unless you are fully aware of the consequences!
Hi,
I´m hoping someone is reading this and is willing to help me out.
I recently bought the ME102A and succesfully rooted it with Kingo. Yesterday I used the info from androtab.info to install the CWM recovery, which worked great! I then accidently wiped the ASUS ROM from the tablet, trying to install a custom ROM. I should have read better, seeing as there are no custom ROM´s yet for the ME102A. I the tried almost every option I can think of, trying to get the original firmware back on the tablet but to no avail. I've read countless of threads and sites, but have yet to find the solution for me.
I´m currently back to stock recovery, unable to use the tablet. I can only boot into Android system recovery. I tried to install the custom CWM image found in this thread, as well as the stock image found on adrotab.info. I´ve seen almonst every error mentioned on this site and on others, like the "assert failed" and the "<waiting for device>" as well as "Installation aborted"...
I'm at a loss and am hoping some of you good folks can help me bring the life back to my tablet. It's not my first time flashing ROM's so I understand some of the basics (although reading apparently isn't my strongest point...) and can work a little with ADB and FastBoot etc. I have however no understanding of RKAndroidTool and the likes. But I am willing to try almost everything at this point...
Regards, Arie
If you are still around I ran into a very similar problem today and managed to bring the memo pad back to life. It may not be exactly the same problem you had but I would be more than happy to help if you are still around
This is basically what i managed to do
Issues on current version
official update cannot be installed. you need to modify updater-script as follows
remove
assert(getprop("ro.build.asus.sku") == "XX");
replace
write_raw_image(package_extract_file("YYYY"), "ZZZZ");
with
package_extract_file("YYYY", "/dev/block/platform/emmc/by-name/ZZZZ");
(it seems it needs more fixes for OTA update...)
touch(swipe) does not work.

Hello, im hoping someone can assist. I was running a custom rom / rooted Lenovo TB-X103F on Lineage 14.1 but had loads of issues with sound quality. Anyway i decided i wanted to go back to my stock rom but i hadnt backed it up (stupid me!).
So i downloaded one for my tablet, used fastboot to recover it all. Anyway its back up and working now, however it keeps telling me there is a system update. if i do that it loads into the bootloader and tries to update then fails with the following error.
EMMC:/dev/block/bootdevice/by-name/boot:84370032:b380d lots of numbers" has unexpected contents.
E:Error in /data/user/0/com.lenovo.ota/app_otapackages/0144a2a9b950e1716bb19e4da7985130_lenovooota.zip (status 7)
Is there anything i can do to resolve this or am i stuck with the annoying update message? Im guessing its something to do with 2 sets of userdata on the tablet? although i could be way off.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Check if your device has the latest stock rom, update it. But if it has the latest rom version, you should just ignore the message..

Im trying to get back to stock rom. Can you let me know where you got the rom? I cant seem to get any info on this. I tried sideloading a stock firmware zip I found but got nowhere with that.
