Unable to Install any Custom Rom - HTC One Max

Hello all,
I am having issues installing any ROM on my HTC One Max. I have unlocked it using HTCdev, installed CWM, SuperUser, but have not bee able to set S-OFF.
However, I have not been able to install any rooms using the tradition way of installing the zip via the recovery or using fastboot. Any ideas or help will be greatly appreciated.

What I did was rip the boot image from the Rom then install the Rom using clockwork then back into boot loader and flash the boot image using fastboot commands from pc then reboot into your Rom, from this i was able to s off !

All you got to do it run firewater and boom.

As was in my case the HTC kernel stops fire water doing it's job so I installed custom Rom first and boom s off !

marra2 Thank for the response. If I understood you correctly, I should remove the boot image from the rom zip before I flash and then boot into bootloader and flash the image image. Will this then set s-off? or do I need to do something else?

Kind of, flash Rom flash boot image reboot then use fire water to s off but try fire water before all this as I did but wouldn't work due to HTC kernel.once your s off you can flash away !

have you tried flashing twrp recovery?
i have T6spr, haven't been able to get s-off either, but i've been able to flash any compatible rom, and make sure the rom you're trying to flash is compatible with your device. i've noticed that the htc one max has several different build tree's! ><

Just curious if you were using firewater according to this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2632385 The reason I ask is that I was unable to get htcdev to unlock my phone (verizon) and rumrunner would not work. I was though able to use method 2 in the thread above to successfully work. I would also suggest that if you haven't read this http://androidrevolutions.com/neo/OneMaxStarter.docx I found it very helpful. I have now used firewater on two different One Max (international and Verizon phones) and feel fairly comfy that it will indeed work. FWIW.

Unable to flash CWM with Hboot 1.5

So... I really like TWRP but with it being closed down I figured eventually I'd have to switch to CWM so I may as well get adjusted to it now.
However, I'm unable to flash CWM on my Evo3D with hboot 1.5 using fastboot or through the bootloader. I can flash TWRP but flashing CWM just puts me in a bootloop... Anyone know how to fix this?
TWRP is closed down?

I'm protesting flashing until CM9 drops for the Evo 3D!!!
well... Not closed down as much as team win has stopped support for it. Eventually I'm sure I'll get another device and then ill be forced to use CWM

I never use Rom Manager, I always do everything from the Recovery itself.
It's not a homebrew, It's an official CWM from Revolutionary! Enjoy!
It's the only one I'll use now. Twrp 2.0 never flashed correctly for me. It always locked out my WiFi and 3g.

Based off what I've read... There is no way to flash a Rom from Rom manager. You have to go through recovery.

Best thing would be to download the stock ruu with hboot 1.4 and go from there. thats what I did. rooting was painless, cwm works fine with it..
CWM is easy just gotta make sure you type in the CMD to flash right

[GUIDE] HTC Unlock Hboot 1.50 + TWRP Recovery + Root + Flash!! [9.11.11]

[Q] Just a little help

So I recently switched over to the Evo 4g LTE and I'm trying to get everything set up to flash ROMs and such.
I unlocked the bootloader, rooted, and installed TWRP 2.3. I tried to flash the latest Viper 4g ROM but it wouldn't go past the boot screen so I figured I must not have something set up correctly.
Still a little iffy on the S-Off, S-On and if that has anything to do with it. I have extensive experience with flashing on Samsung phones so the switch to HTC has me a little lost. Thanks for the help.

[Q] I've successfully S-OFF'd my dna with moonshine! now what should I do?

What should I proceed to next? Im assuming I would need to install a recovery now? (clockwork, etc. If so, do you know of any guides, not sure if I would need to do something different because I've used moonshine instead of another method) I would just like to make sure that I am doing the correct thing to avoid the risk of bricking/damaging the phone, as the I've only done this once before with my thunderbolt a while back. [Q] Trying to root EVO 4G LTE, not working

I've been trying to root my EVO 4G LTE using various guides from this board, and I'm not having a lot of luck. I have HBOOT 2.09 and it's S-ON. It seems like the easiest way to root the device is to go S-OFF, but then it appears that the device needs to be rooted to get S-OFF. So I'm a little confused at this point. I've unlocked the bootloader and installed TWRP, but when I try to install the SuperSU root utility it gives me an error about mounting partitions and fails. My bootloader screen also displays "TAMPERED" which seems to be a problem but I'm not having a lot of luck finding a way to resolve it.
So... can anyone tell me what my next step is?
Thanks in advance.
Are you using Facepalm, Moonshine, or DirtyRacun? You haven't really provided enough details to help, at this point. What's your software version? I assume you're running the stock ROM?
I was running the stock ROM, I think it was 3.16. I tried using Facepalm but again it seems like it needs root to work which I haven't been able to achieve just yet. I tried installing the ROM from this thread through TWRP but it just hangs on the HTC screen so I'm not sure what's on there now. I can still get into the bootloader and recovery though.
You can't use Facepalm on 3.16 software. Use Moonshine.
Try flashing this stock rooted to get back to a working state: http://d-h.st/users/Captain_Throwback/?fld_id=10308#files
You may need to fastboot flash the boot.img to make sure it fully boots.
OK, I downloaded that ROM and extracted the boot.img. I booted the phone into the bootloader and ran "fastboot flash boot boot.img". It seems to have completed correctly, no errors at least, but now the phone just sits at the HTC screen with the red text at the bottom. Clearly I'm doing something wrong...
Did you flash the ROM too? Or did it reboot on you when you tried?
I just did the boot.img. Should I also do "fastboot flash zip 3.16.651.3_stock_rooted_odex_CPTB.zip"?

You have to flash the ROM in recovery.
Ok, so I went into recovery which is still TWRP, adb pushed that ROM to the phone then tried to install it. It gives a bunch of error messages about being unable to mount various items, says it's unable to find path for partition [name of the zip] and fails.
Thanks for your help and patience so far...
You do not extract the file, leave it as a zip and do not open it. Move it to your SD card while in fastboot (mount sd) and from there use twrp and select the correct zip to flash. But above all... DO NOT EXTRACT THE FILR

I don't understand what you're doing here. Boot to recovery, mount storage, copy the ROM zip over, and then flash it.
Ok, so I mounted storage from recovery, or least I tried to, my PC said it needed to be formatted. So I did so, copied the file over and flashed it which completed successfully this time. My phone now boots properly, I'll give Moonshine a try now. Hopefully I won't need to bug you again, thanks for all the help.

I've been reading through the Moonshine thread and it seems other people have had the same problem, but I haven't seen a solid fix yet. Anyone know what I need to do or should I stick with the Moonshine thread?

[Guide] S-Off M9 SPR

quick instructions...
0. be dev unlocked (obviously) - thanks htc
1. twrp back up your system/data/boot (obviously) - thanks captain
2. in twrp, flash Bad Boys stock rooted rom here - thanks bad boyz
3. in the same twrp session, flash your stock 1.32.651.30 boot partition, or use this one here (unzip, and put the folder in your twrp backups folder)
4. reboot system and download sunshine s-off here - thanks jcase and beanups
5. after sunshine runs completely and system reboots, wait a minute, it will reboot again to finish, then POWER ITSELF OFF
6. reboot back to bootloader after the phone POWERS ITSELF OFF and see that you are s-off. now you can reboot recovery and wipe the stock rooted odex you are on and restore your current rom that you backed up in step 1
that is all.
edit: this guide assumes you have been unlocked, rooted, possibly running a custom rom already, and maybe don't have a stock backup. if you are bone stock: dev unlock, flash twrp, flash supersu, then sunshine s-off.
edit2: also, if you are on a custom rom that has the an untouched boot.img, you may be set to run sunshine already.
Thanks for this. Got a quick question. I'll be upgrading to the m9 soon, so I plan on getting s-off first thing.
Since the phone will be stock out of the box, could I just unlock bootloader, flash twrp, flash supersu to get root, and then do sunshine?
If not, then I'll follow your instructions. Just curious if it will work this way.
