hey guys,
im having a difficult time trying to install a different version of swype on the phone.
i have deleted the original apk using root explorer and tried to install the latest one (the one that has 19 languages because it supports my language also). i tryed installing it using adb but it gave me install failuire, i tried installing it from the sd card using root explorer but it asked me if i want to replace the current one an it gave me a application not installed message. the thing is i deleted the old swype apk....
how can i install this new one??
i would really apreciate any help!!
did you backup your old swype apk ? should have pulled it using ADB
i prob would have opened them both up and checked the changes in the packages, pulled your original one, opened it in winrar, not extract, added or changed the files, closed and pushed back onto your device.
however, you will need to add permissions to certain folders using root explorer to be able to do this
if you want the swype apk from a UK, international version i can pull and upload for you

EDIT: sorry about that
Careful I believe posting swype files is against XDA policy
hi,
I'm trying to install stock sms app but i can't achieve this. It keeps saying : installation aborded
I am on chameleon rom 1.1 ( hybrid aosp/samsung rom)
Can you help me ?
(sorry if i made mistakes in my post i'm not english XD )
You should copy the apk into /system/app, then change permissions into 644 (rw--r--r), change group and owner to 'root', and finally reboot and try.

i already tried it and it didn't work. and i am not sur about the about i trid to install because it s difficult to find the stock sms app.
i changed the permissions but i don t understand what you are saying by " 644 (rw--r--r)"
theoricaly it should work since i use an hybrid app ?
With a file manager, backup your mms.apk in /system/app in whatever folder you want. Then, copy the stock mms.apk into /system/app.
You shouldn't click on the .apk and let the app install as you do with other apk files, because this is a system application.
644 means read/write-read-read.
rw-r--r means u set read and write in the owner row , and set read only in the group row , and set read only too in the others row
Note : u get to permissions window in root explorer afer changing r/o read only to r/w read write from the button at the top
then just long click the item u want to change its permissions
i tried what you have said and it didn't work. Is a flashable zip existed ?
up
The stock mms.apk might not be compatible with the custom ROM you have on your phone...
Why do you say it doesn't work? What happens? You open it and it FCs or something else?
I just followed instructions given by posters above and it didn't worked. ( remove the old Mms.apk by the stock one, and fix the permissions, then reboot ) Maybe i don't have the good app, i don't understand why it didn't work; The chameleon rom support stock camera app of samsung and others apps...

Maybe the pakage cant be praised because of android version differnece , some apks from ics dont work on Jb and vice versa
So if u want a stock sms to work on jb , then download another jb rom that has it and take it from there
For pushing files to system app , it is better to first delete the app u want to replace then do a reboot after that copy the new app to system app and set premissions and set r/w back to r/o
So I bought this little phone and I was baffled that there are so few language options to select.
The phone is for my father (the english evades him) therefore I need my mother language on it.
Phone Version XT1021
OS:
Android 4.4.2 Blur_Version.20.11.14.condor_retaildsds.retaildsdsall.en.03 Updated to 4.4.4, rebuilt in a deodexed ZIP file, and a system.img file
Ho needs it, I can upload it, I have either the update.zip or system/boot img files.
What I tried:
I tried to recompile the framework-res, system and other 15~20 apps, on some it worked on some it did not.
I am using the Nexus 5 translations files
On those that worked I managed to activate them by using a morelocale app from market and the translations work just fine.
On systemUI.apk I am getting force close
On framework-res.apk the phone freezes.
How I decompile/recompile and test the apps.
1) Decompile the app
2) Add the new values
4) Recompile
5) Copy the new app created app and the original one in a folder.
6) Open both apps
7) Drag and drop the resources.asrc file in the original apk and when you are asked how would you like to compress the file, I select STORE (I use winrar)
So if anyone managed to edit the framework app, systemUI and he is kind to share how he did it without getting any bootloops and force close, I would be very appreciative.
Now, regarding the boot.img
I tried to unpack it, using the classic method, it unpacks ok, the problem is on repacking,
Is there a special tool to do it or what ?
Why do i need
I need the adb.secure to be 0, and also the security off, so I can be able to use ADB REMOUNT and monitor adb logcat since the device starts. and also to be able to push apps to system using adb.
So, ho has the information and he is kind to share ?
here is the proper way to decompile and recompile the apk in a proper way
1. Make sure you have the latest version of the apktool
2. install the framework (try using 4.4.2 framework if 4.4.4 one gives error)
3. Decompile make changes
4. Choose option compile system app in apktools
5. now when it asks to delete all the things you have modified then delete the res and resources.arsc file and if you have made any smali changes delete the classes.dex too
6. go back to script and press enter
7. now open both MODIFIED APK and UNMODIFIED APK and then DRAG AND DROP androidmanifest.xml and meta inf from UNMODIFIED TO MODIFIED APK
8. push it and set rw-r-r permission
and if you are getting the error unable to remount then install adb insecure app by chainfire
thats it
happy modding
any help comment below by quoting or mentioning my name(i get notification so that i can give quick responce )

I managed to add the language using your method, only with one mention, I think on framework you have to select STORE when you add the file to the archive.

If you have your systemui apk then
Put it back to system/priv-app (in KitKat ROM) system/app ( in jelly bean ROMs ) and set 0644 permission then reboot the device it will fix your issue
If you don't have backup of deleted apk then your can extract it from stock firmware of your device ....

Can anyone tell me how to deodex Xperia Z2 6.0.1 firmware step by step? Thanks in advance....
+1
I am also looking for the same. On MM rom, Sony is using symlinks to link odex files.
A step by step guide would be highly appreciated.
Thank you
I'm not gonna go into deep details, but this should help.
- flash MM rom for your device, make sure it is ROOTED as you'll need to use an explorer with root access,it's better if you do this on a clean install, but this is just me
- boot your device and go through the setup process
- once done, install a browser with root access, I recommend MiXplorer, root explorer
- browse into /system folder
- check your /app, /framework, /priv-app, they should have odex files inside them (this was the case for me)
- copy these folders, plus build.prop file into sd card or the phone memory
- connect phone to pc and copy files over
- look up and download SVADeodexerForArtx(32 or 64 based on your system), you also need to have java installed on your machine.
- extract the SVADeodexerForArtxxx to your c: drive, and create a folder named /system insides, and post the files from your phone inside that
- your final folder will look something like this : c:/SVADeodexerForArtxxx/system/ (app, framework,priv-app) and build.prop file
- remember to move the Semcxxx app folder from /framework into /app folder or it won't be deodexed
- run SVADeodexerForArtxxx and point it to your /system folder, it will show you your android version, tick the checkbox for app, framework, priv-app, hit the start button
- it'll run and once done the log file will open and tell you how many were deodexed.
- the deodexed folders will be in the base folder, make sure to return the Semcxxx folder from the /apps to /framework
- create a flashable zip and flash these folders back on your rom
now your rom is deodexed

The intention of this post was to learn how to do it. I know there is existenz and ultraslim deodexed roms. Thanks anyway.
@ticktock666
Thanks for the steps.
These steps looks to be from older version. Anybody with 6.0 Sony MM steps?
@ticktock666
There are certain other folders such as odex.app, odex.framework, odex.priv-app...what about these? These folders also contains similar odex files for app, framework and pri-app...

I'm not sure, but here's some of the stuff I noticed during the deodex process :
- I used to get the files using adb pull command directly to pc after a fresh rom install (remember to install a pre-rooted rom), but I did not get any odex files with the apps this way, so deodexing didn't work.
- after pulling the files from the device using a root explorer, each app had the odex files with them inside the correct folders.
- about odex.xxx folders and odex.xxx.sqsh files : they contain an exact duplicate of the odex files, no idea why (you can extract the sqsh files, they're basically special compressed odex file container sort of thing), which means the rom contains 3 versions of the same odex file, makes no sense.....
after deodexing and flashing the deodexed rom/files, I deleted odex.xxx folders and odex.xxx.sqsh files, and my rom works fine, fully rooted and with xposed. My current issue is that now if I browse into /data/app on the root of the drive I'll find an odexed version of every app I have installed, be it a user app or system app, and it's driving me crazy.

sorry buddy, but although just the deodexed files from my rom should work perfectly (it's only the apks, no other settings from the rom are included), it is near impossible for me to upload anywhere due to slow & unstable connection and power situation, since none of the hosting services support upload resume on their apps/sites.

I don't have the latest rom yet (not released for 6502), but when you go into your /system/app folder using a root explorer, do you see "arm" folder inside any of the installed apps ? maybe they changed something in 291, and now they only use sqsh files, also what does the log from the app says when you deodex the rom says ? it should say something like "300 apps deodexed, 10 apps already deodexed" or something like that.

Thanks, for good instructions!
It is also working for Xperia Z3 Compact on MM .291. I failed in the past, cause of forgetting 'semcxxx' in framework.
