basically hardware is the same except the more ram, but i don't think you can do this without some minor mods to the rom itself.

you have to wait some time, is a minor release phone and is in the store from a not big amount of time, wait a bit, maybe it just need a little modification to adapt rom's and kernel's from standard i9300 to the neo .

you can use gl to sd(https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.slf.ListglApp&hl=it) but everytime you have to open the game you have to do it passing trough gl to sd itself.

You will need CWM recovery, i dont think root is necessary. and no i dont play games much on my phone so i didnt use it, others use it, you can check their reviews in the posts.
If you dont have CWM and your bootloader hasnt been unlocked, you can get it here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=32712631
after installing CWM, just download the mod, and follow the instructions provided by the dev.

no, I installed the CM11... so didn't try to solve this problem...
the CM11 is working great, but I think this one would be amazing too.... but now I'm too lazy to change it again and set up everything again...
however my s3 is no brand, bought in Malaysia

I can understand, I'm lazy too... in fact I'm starting to reduce drasticly the apps with many data that need backup, every time I waste time and very often I loose data... better use excel for data collection...
But I really love this rom now!

Seriously, why is this phone so slow on Marshmallow?

Seriously, why? I just don't get how people bear to use it, there are so many custom ROMs with 5.0+. Fresh CM is usable when freshly installed, but after logging in Google Account and installing just few Google apps, it just haaaaaangs on ever task you do. I mean I get it - this phone is almost 5 years old - but I own some older devices like Galaxy S II and it is so much faster on Marshmallow.
Or am I just missing something out? I'm using Safestrap's stock ROM. But when I leave stock and install something CM-based on other slots it's even worse (why?). It's the same memory chip. Or is it?

I think this phone is slow with custom roms for the kind of kernel it has (Kexec), remember this phone never had a chance to unlock his bootloader (as far as I know) and that is probably the reason , I say this because I have an old Galaxy Tab 2 with the same processor and I have it with MM, it's slower but not at the level of the razr

I find the last one usable to be 4.3, KitKat is not much better than L/M.

What is best option for nexus9.

Hi guys,
I'm sorry cause asking this, especially cause this question has been asked manytimes and I have read several subjects too, but I didn't strict answer I'm looking for.
I recently bought nexus 9 (WiFi only model) 16gigs,
I unlocked bootloader, I rooted the device and now I want to debloat it.
I'm in dilema weither I should just have it rooted and debloated on 7.1.1. android, or should I use some of the custom roms around.
I'm aiming to use tablet mainly for gaming. I have servral games I'd like to play listed:
Marvel Future Fight
DC Legends
Star Wars Galaxy Heroes
Star Wars Force arena
and few others but i take it that if those can run fine, all others would too.
Also can someone point me to a safelist of application that can be removed if answer to first question is to just leave it rooted and debloat.
Thank you a lot for help.
Cheers.

For the best performance, install a custom ROM. As for debloat, ... It's a Nexus, what bloat?
But if you want minimal, I would say flash slimrom and the smallest gapps package that fits your needs. Or go gapps free and use micro g instead.
Performance on stock is pretty bad (really bad), but a custom ROM will fix it for the n9. When I say bad on stock, I mean opening more than 1 tab in chrome, it has to reload the page every time switching between the two. Same with having a couple apps open.
Fortunately, most of the ROMs out there take care of all that.

How would someone find official roms? I used pure nexus rom thinking that is official but i guess i was wrong. I not to big on roms knowing. They all looks the same to me I just care to be able to uninstall builtin apps i don't use and that everything works fine.
This one i use now had a problem common with nexus 9, white blocks and anoying skrechy sound, but i read somehwere it is fixed by unhoking battery, cleaning pins and putting it back together. I tried it and I didn't have problems since then. I drained battery to 2% no problem, before it was impossible. I have no idea was it ROM issue or what.

That's a common hardware issue for n9, not a ROM issue.

But it's safe to say that it's fixed now. Everyone was talkin about disconnecting battery, and clean a bit and connecting again.
it seems such a easy troll solution to this "very anoying and hard problem that even HTC didn't solve", and i did it and it really did the job (knock on a wood ). I've been draining battery to the end for 3 days now, nothing ever like that happend ever again. before it wasn't even a day when i didn't experienced that problem.

Good to hear. That usually is the fix for that.
Please, just to confirm, is this "image-volantis-n9f27l" official ROM or it's custom ROM?
I also use this bootloader : "bootloader-flounder-3.50.0.0143" since other ones didn't work for me.
I was with support trying to solve issue of Device restarting every time I install new app or update app, and while trying to clear cache partition, it gone to my device not wanting to boot. so i had to factory reset, and it still won't start android in full. so i have to reflash ROM. I guess.
I'm kinda lost now cause i don't know what to do.
As said i just want for my device to be rooted so i can delete all apps i don't need and change launcher (deleting existing one - well i don't know if it's smart or not. i figure why having two launcers when i will use only one).
And i want to play games and use apps without it failing on me all the time.

Overclocking outdated tech?

Hi everyone on XDA, this is my first time posting so take it easy on me. I have this old Samsung tablet (Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 P3100), which I use as a multi tool I guess (media player, second display, remote desktop control etc) and I can not go and buy another newer model plus I think I got attached to it (been using it for quite some years, and now that I upgraded my PC system it fits even better in the whole setup). My questions about this poor old piece of tech are: 1) is it worth oveclocking the thing to well , make it faster in a way I can actually see the improvements? 2) Can I (somehow) through the magic of rooting and kenrels and all that stuff make it run some version of windows? 3)If I can not run windows , what about at least upgrading the android version? 4) (You're not gonna like this one) What about rooting the thing? - I never done it myself only saw other people doing it and I was wondering if it is too complicated or it has high risks of damaging the device.

Battery consumption won't be a problem for me at all since it stays mostly on my desk charging. Any, I don't know, softwares or kernels or apps to use to achieve my goal?

Overclocking with stock kernel is not a good choice right now, as overclock apps seem to be deprecated. Let's take "No frills cpu control" as an example (Most used app to overclock).
This app isn't even compatible with Magisk at this time. It stopped updating when superSu was over 2.9
I don't think Overclocking is a good idea.

I mean, I don't have much to lose. If the poor thing fails , it's totally fine really, considering its age. So then, I should change the kernel? How do I do that and with what other kernel do I change it?

You don't need to change kernel to overclock. Just root the device and download any app from google play.
I recommend Apps2SD (All in one Tool). You can also manage cores with that app.
