Too many instability on my device - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I'm having a very unstable S3. Unluckily I'm an advanced and enthusiast Android user, unluckily because I've to suffer the continuous proposals of an untouched device, as solution for all my problems, you should understand me! [emoji16]
So... I won't renounce uselessly to any app or tweak, if you are not expert surely you can't help me.
-----
My device:
Device: Samsung Galaxy S3 International 16 GB (+64 GB exFat SD);
Rom: CyanogenMod 11 M9 (upgraded from M8);
Modem: LG8;
Kernel: BOEFFLA Kernel (the last stable release, sometimes the last beta);
Mods: BRAVIA Engine 3 and xLoud (both flashed before kernel), Xposed Framework (some modules included GravityBox, with "few" tweaks enabled), customed build.prop e init.d script files.
The "heavier" build.prop tweaks:<br />
power_supply.wakeup=enable
persist.sys.ui.hw=1
debug.sf.hw=1
dalvik.vm.checkjni=true
dalvik.vm.verify-bytecode=true
dalvik.vm.execution-mode=int:jit
dalvik.vm.dexopt-flags=m=y
Useless report init.d tweaks, there are stupid things respect to build.prop ones.
-----
Premised my device specifications, I'm having a "war" against System UI who freeze the entire system for a long time before goes to FC. After many full wipes, the same problem.
In the first middle of July I decided to reconfigure my phone at "workmanlike", knowing what to do, how and when.
According to a terrible ARHD experience in last summer, "two" reboots instead one, then the wizard, then Xposed Framework, kernel and mods, while at last I did all the rest.
Initially I was moved by the greatful performance, but after a week, regressions started with the already cited System UI crashes, that make the everyday life an hell. Now the problem is extended to other apps.
Main apps sometimes require a long time to be opened, showing a black screen until a FC.
Enabling the view of all the ANR dialogs, I noted that Facebook at casual times is not responding and at bootup it slow system for many seconds. I always hated Facebook Android development, performance and battery saving are critical for everyone.
Since some days also cLock have lots of FCs, and upgrading from M8 to M9 I did a mistake: I reflashed Gapps, causing another "collection" of FCs of Google services such Play Services and Play Framework, because I replaced part of updates with old versions... so I think and I hope I'm wrong, less problems is better!
I need your help to know causes of my terrible instability, I know also a fast, powerful but rare S3 in my hands, I want know what let it to be so useless and enervating.
I did lots of resolutive attempts, e.g. wipe cache and Dalvik cache, do data restore and wipe with Titanium Backup, but nothing. [emoji26]

Go back to a stock rom after a full wipe. If still the same then your nand has bad blocks.

According to eMMC BrickBug Check no bad blocks were found, nor affected by Sudden Death.
Why should I turn to the stock firmware?

Return to a good stock firmware and don't install any mods to see if it is stable for maybe a day or two. Then one by one install the mods that you use. (Too many mods could cause stability issues due to some conflicts I'm sure you know). And it could even be one of them that is causing issues/or cyanogenmod has stability problems

Try the stock firmware is useless:
CyanogenMod 11 since some months is considered stable, I've no enough time to make lots of attempts as you require to me.
CyanogenMod 10.2 stable... terrible: fast reboots cause bootloops, camera is unstable and there are some FCs in certain conditions.
I've asked your help for exhaustive answers, you should know what can be conflictual better than me, i.e. some build.prop line.
Undo phone to the original state (rooted or unrooted) is only a waste of time.
I know that there isn't any hardware or logical issue on my device, I know that CyanogenMod 11 is an almost stable rom... so where I "concretely" wrong? If you need more info about my device hardware/configuration... simply ask [emoji106]

Battery Percentage jumps from 50% to 16%

Hi Guys,
I would like to ask for some advice regarding my GF's S2 Battery.. it seems that I'm in a dilemma which of two is at fault. Occasionally, whenever the battery hits 50% and I'm doing something CPU hungry apps like games or stuff.. it jumps from 50% to 16%.
I've already tried:
* Wiping battery stats in recovery (Using Philz)
* Flashing a new kernel
* Wiping Dalvik and Cache
* Fixing Permissions
and I still experience the ridiculous battery drain. Does anyone has an idea what could be the problem? Could it be the battery itself?
My GF's S2 is using Wanamlite 13.0 and Jeeboo kernel at the moment.
Any advice would be very much appreciated
Try a clean install of stock. Then try a new battery. If you've had the phone for a while (given the SGS2 was released over 18 mths ago), the battery could be on the way out. Even 12 mths of constant use/drain/recharge can finish a battery off depending on how often you repeat that cycle.

Flash to Wanam 12.8 or a version which is ICS.
Wanam 13 which based on LSJ is a leaked version that many users reporting problems with the battery performance.
After you try the ICS version of Wanam, you will see that battery performance is now stable.

Im using Wanamlite 13.0 on my S2 and never experienced the sudden battery drain from 50% to 16%.. The thing is, her S2 is the only one experiencing this >.<
Thanks for the suggestion though.

The second one is funny.. It was `charging' while it wasnt on charge ! It tried to give me some volts back
I use last syiah kernel . I will update my signature when from pc
I tried all wipes .. I think it will be gone when i pass to jb . But that wont be before 4.2.2 maybe coz im really satisfied now (and jb isnt stable yet)

I used to have this behaviour before my USB port broke down completely.
Download android assistant, using this app it tells you which apps are using the most CPU, maybe she downloaded a game or something which uses alot of CPU.
Well to those who are interrested that was a battery problem.. I used a non genuine adaptator that damaged the battery progressively

[Q] Issues! Solution - New ROM or Clean Wipe?

Hello!
A question for you knowledgeable people.
I am traveling and has recently had all sorts of problems with my S2.
- Some are resolved, but others are recurring despite resets.
I am very dependent on the device as I use it's hotspot feature as my primary and only internet solution.
For a while I was keen on installing a custom ROM. Especially after CyanogenMod released their installer for dummies. However, I am traveling with a Macbook and Mac/OS X support is not available yet .
I'm not really in need of the latest features.
I dislike bloat wares, am tired of all the little bugs, the GPS seems to malfunction sometimes, I have 3 batteries yet the battery life is poor and the RAM memory is allocated quickly so the phone becomes slow.
I like Google's new photo app (supporting photo sphere) so I would be happy if it worked fluently. In addition, the phone restarts itself every now and then, after which the battery reports 1-10% battery life and slowly grows, even though it might be fully charged.
Now to the question:
Can an alternative ROM improve my experience? If so tips on which?
Is there alternatively anything else I can do, besides just restoring?
Perhaps something that will wipe everything followed by a complete clean install with the Stock ROM?
I do not know how optimized the recovery feature is. From experience I know however that after a couple of Windows Restores it is often in place with a clean install.
Ideas and tips are warmly appreciated!
If you wish to wipe everything and keep the stock rom, you can reboot into recovery mode (Hold down volume up, home and lock button at the same time upon booting), and navigate to wipe data/factory reset.
In regards to custom roms improving experience, there are many different types to choose from, as well as many different kernels to choose to perhaps improve battery. Head over to http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2#romList and start exploring!
Rom recommendations are forbidden here due to being ridiculously subjective (I.E your experience with a rom will not be the same as mine). AMcGavin's suggestion to have a look at a rom list/head over to the development sections & read some rom threads is a good one.

Thank you! In such a case (if I do the *wipe data/factory reset*) - Do I then need to download the stock ROM as a separate file, or is those files being kept on another partition?
I also saw a big warning message on CyanogenMod's Wiki - That some devices bricked after doing so from Stock ROM. Is that something I should be careful about?

Is this relevant to the wipe/factory reset -procedure that we are talking about?
Thanks a bunch!
That brick happens mostly with ICS 4.0.4, but you should take care nonetheless, as the warning says install CM first without wiping anything and then go to recovery and wipe.
But after installing CM I would have changed the bootloader from original to Clockwerk, right? Do I still have that option there?
Sorry, I'm new in this jungle. Looking at the ROM list is even more confusing in terms of making a decision. CM seems to be a bigger one so I'll give it a go.

Clockwork recovery can still perform a factory reset.
Keep in mind that once you install a custom rom, doing a factory reset does not reset it to a factory image, so to speak. It won't go back to stock, just the factory settings of the custom rom. To go back to stock from here would require you to reflash it back on.

No. Recommending roms is forbidden for the reason I mentioned in my post on the first page. This thread will be closed soon.

Recommending, best Rom, anything along those lines can cause offence to the developers, cause heated debates and everyone has different opinions, therefore, this thread type is not permitted on XDA.

[Q] Question about most cleanest ROM without or minimal bloatware

Hey there im lookin and lookin and can't find anything what could make me happy
What am i looking for? well basically the most stable STOCK without withtout bloadware or at least with minimum blot apps in the ROM . Im not interested in any custom roms cause i tried to install one of the ''best custom''roms here and my phone was acting really strange im talking about AD 1.7.15 : P is there anything that works with 4.3 without problems? Ok i might give a try for another custom but ONLY for the one that not gonna have problems with waking up,not gonna turn off in the middle of day without even saying good night and icons wont dissapear from the screen .If theres anyone who might lend me a hand with verry clean stock rom id appreciate :*
Best rom recommendations are against the posting rules as they can cause bad feeling, try them for yourself.

Not sent from a shiny new phone.
ok if not about rom let me ask you another question. Ive got problems with waking up my phone soemtimes i just can't do it only removing battery helps.... i got new clean stock 4.3 after custom romany ideas what could cause that problem? It didnt happen before taht problem occured right after installing custom rom and still happens after comming back to stock rom
The early 4.3 firmwares had slow wake up issues, but only a delay not a failure to wake at all. The latest firmwares are better but still take a second or two to respond, but much better battery life in standby as a result.
If your phone is crashing in standby then try a full wipe, format internal sd card then fresh stock firmware (latest GNA8). Test before you install or restore anything, try without external sd card fitted. Check the log after a crash to see what the cause was.
Thats my current ROM

my problem occured after installing custom rom before that everything was ok my phone didnt sudenly turn off or had problems with waking up now i need to take battery off to make it run :/ could you give me a link to the latest (non branded) stock rom for 4.3? and do i have to install it trough ODIN? or root my phone cause atm it's unrooted and what about that wipe? do i have to do it in recovery mode? Could you give me a simple guide step by step how to do those things cause im a blonde girl got problems with understanding even simnple things :*
Oh and one more question will the rom have Polish language cause im actually Polish .
The sticky thread in general forum explains it step by step, returning to stock with Odin. Download the latest firmware for your country at sammobile.com, you don't need root. Wipe with factory reset in phone settings, accounts. After flashing boot into recovery and factory reset again.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
ok one more question and we can close this thread http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=GT-I9300&pcode=XEO#firmware so XEO rom is without branding? and the latest one is this one?
Model: GT-I9300
Model name: GALAXY S III
Country: Poland
Version: Android 4.3
Changelist: 2429075
Build date: Thu, 16 Jan 2014 14:53:58 +0000
Product Code: XEO
PDA: I9300XXUGNA5
CSC: I9300XEOGNC1
MODEM: I9300XXUGNA8
I was once like you, wanting to find the most light weight firmware, but that was habit after previously having a Galaxy 3. (128mb of ram, 40-80mb app space, low spec'd).
Instead I'd just go for a well optimized rom for the S3, say it was compiled with O3 and the kernel was well tweaked. Flash the gapps micro, disable unwanted start-up programs and remove any further system software.
I'd use a 4.4 CM based rom, download the testing branch of the Boeffla kernel for CM11, Odexed gapps micro, enable Art in developer options, do the start-up stuff and apply any kernel tweaks you like. I'm using Resurrection Remix as it has a lot of features (missing a lot I'd like), generally faster than the other rom I usually use (Archi) and has pretty good battery in comparison.
Only you can decide which ROM works best for you. Each thread will have all of the information you will need to make a decision.

Thank you. Anyone here can translate? my russian is not sooo good
What is this ROM based on CM12.1? CM13? Other? Ok let me take the chance, and take a more direct question.
On which version of Android is this work based on? Kitkat? Lollipop? Or Marshmallow?
*Edit*
Pouring over the Zip File from Google Drive...
Seems to indicate that this is a Modded Stock Samsung ROM... So very likely a KitKat 4.4.2 ROM...
Not sure if want. Since what I really want is OmniROM on this Device. Barring that CyanogenMod.
@StilleWaesser
Wouldn't ya know I think Google has a Browser App for that.... Just feed Google Translate the URL, and it should translate the entire Site for you.
It's the stock ROM just debloated. At least the screenshots look like stock, so no android 5,6.
Yeah I tried... if Google'd translate correct, I might understand somehting. But the translation is not usable.
Already been that far on my own....

Sorry that it wasn't useful, I know its [Translate] kind of crap at translating Russian. Mores the pity that this isn't more of a custom ROM.
What with all the known open vulns that Kitkat, and Lollipop have. Stagefright, and now this new Dogspectus-android-ransomware it's not a good time to be running such an old OS, unless you have to... For reasons.
Though I guess AdAway would at least help with the latter. By blocking such crap from getting anywhere near the Device, but still...
Do i need to flash the ROM using CM or just using the build in ?
i really want to use this rom as my T325 keep lagging sometime freezes.

Yup same here dirty flash & running great
Did a clean flash, because it looked interesting. I decided to make it my daily driver for a week and see if it can beat Robbie's custom builds.
Already two (very minor) bugs to report:
1. After every boot the double-tap-2-wake gets checked, although I had it unchecked before rebooting.
2. I use the HW buttons and have the backlight at 0% so they don't intrude. Now, also after every reboot, the backlight value gets reset to 100%. Very easy to fix of course, but hey are issues that (I hope) were not supposed to be there.
Hope this is helpful enough!
-Mats
Also dirty flashed, only wiped system.
So far runs great. It's so fast!!
Thanks!

Okay I think I fixed those two problems, we'll see in the next build. I'm trying to figure out why the ota center keeps defaulting to Mahdi's servers even though I have the local and server files I need. I'll build when I figure that out.

Great man!
With the same apps, same wakelocks blocked and same kernel, I am getting >20 minutes screen on time more than Robbie's CM11. My new daily driver, thanks!
