My WiFi originally had no issues when I was on the stock 2.3.6 ROM/Siyah. Then I got curious about ICS and installed Lite'ning ROM 2.2 Went through numerous issues with my apps, including the aforementioned WiFi issues before I decided to just quit for now and revert to my nandroid backup of GB.
Problem is, I still seem to have WiFi issues back on GB. Didn't use to be a problem before though. I wasn't able to make a backup of the DXKL1 modem, but I did reflash XXKL1 in an attempt to fix the issue upon reverting to GB. Didn't seem to help much though. I was going to try reverting to DXKL1, however the Multiupload download link is now broken, and no one seems to have a copy of it floating around.
WiFi won't automatically connect sometimes. And on my home network (WPA2-AES or TKIP, same issue), it has trouble connecting on occasion, looping from "Authenticating" to "Saved, secured with PSK" but oftentimes never actually establishing a connection successfully.
Any ideas would be appreciated. So would a backup of DXKL1, if that is in any way related. Thanks!
Try changing kernel .

I am having the same issue with ICS. And I'm sorry to say, the only fix I found until now is to go back to GB. KL1 also has some issues, and so I went even further back to KI4.
Good luck!

I had the same problem when trying to connect to my home wifi network. The phone was constantly connecting, authenticating, connecting, authenticating ...
Then I tried to connect without forcing an ip address and when it was connected I change the ip and put the one that interested me. I think it's an error in the original rom
Thing is, I'm back on GB and it seems to have "kept" the problem from my venture into ICS.
I'm currently on Siyah 2.6.14, which I've had no issues with in the past. The only thing I can see that remains different from pre-ICS nandroid is my modem, which is now XXKL1 when it used to be DXKL1.
Hope anyone can help solve this problem. I also wish my WiFi would automatically connect again.
Maby try a data / factory wipe
Yes full wipe and restore your original firmware .
Its not unusual for those that flashed ICS and then jumped back to GB to have varying problems .
....................................
Clean Slate for those that balls up the firmware .Or need to return to service or decide if its hardware/firmware problem .
Backup data first if phone is working .
Boot CWM recovery
Mounts and Storage
Format cache data system sd card .
Remove battery
Boot to download mode
Open Odin
Install correct stock firmware .

full wipes and install rom from internal SD not external SD
Crap, hoped it wouldn't have to come to that. Didn't really want to since I'm now on CM9 with all my settings set up nicely. WiFi still having the same issues.
I take it nobody else has experienced these issues and solved them?
Hello all,
Currently i am on FOXHOUND Revolver Ocelot and LPS modem.
Every 2 - 3 days if i leave the phone one without rebooting, the phone loses network (seems to have the icon of a circle with the slash across) and when i go to settings>wireless>mobile networks> i cannot get into the menu and it will just shows the message "insert Sim card to access network"
A reboot of my phone will solve this but it seems to come back after a few days. I cleaned my sim card and tried removing the micro sd card, didnt help. Checked the IMEI of the phone and it is correct too.
Not sure if this could be a potential hardware problem but not to sure what else i can try other than switch back to stock or try other custom roms.
Any help or suggestions will be appreciated.
Thank you.
Just thought i update my post so that it may help someone else.. i changed to the rom's LPQ modem by doing a reinstallation of the rom and choosing the LPQ modem and so far my phone is behaving well. After 4 days it has not lost network, so hopefully this is solved..
Hello
I just ran into the no SIM detected problem many people already had. This happened after having flashed Pount ROM CM 11, after which I tried to restore my stock ROM backup with no success. I also get signal.
I did some lookup, and it seems most of the time the obvious symptom is the loss of the IMEI.
However my IMEI is fine. My baseband is also correct. I tried restoring the whole "efs" folder which I had backed up a few months ago, but still no go.
Which other options do I have? I'd gladly read some other thread but I could not find any other similar situation - maybe because most of the time the IMEI is loss.
Can I get some help? Thanks!

I'll just answer myself as I kept on investigating and it may help somebody observing the same symptoms: the SIM card was simply dead. Yay, my I9100 is back on track :victory:
My friend asked me to look at this phone that was softbricked and kept going to CWM recovery everytime it was booted. I updated the CWM to the latest touch version via ODIN then formatted the phone clean. :good: Then I flashed 4.3.1 stable AOKP ROM and the GApps. It was fine, everything else was working. I connected the wi-fi, used bluetooth, signed into google account everything was normal and stable.:highfive: But then I tried calling and it said "no mobile network". Tried sending a text, could not. I went in and searched for network signals then registered to the correct(I AM SURE!) one.:silly: Still no luck. Then I let it choose automatically. Nothing. Then I thought maybe installing another ROM will somehow fix it and flashed CyanogenMod 10.2 stable. Still no luck. I searched around for a flashable radio but could not decide if that would fix it because as far as I am aware if the radio wasn't working no wireless connectivity should've been either.
The phone is Samsung Galaxy S III GTI9300 white 16GB (unlocked) and has been here in Nepal with Nepal Telecom Sim since it was bought. I have no Idea how the soft brick happened but I think this guy tried to manually update the phone with a stock firmware during which some **** must've happened.
Can you guys please let me know if this could be fixed?
Any help would be highly appreciated.:fingers-crossed::fingers-crossed:
There are hundreds of identical threads, search and read about efs and imei issues.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
I previously had issues with my GT-i9300 using a stock rom where it wouldn't boot past the Samsung screen and in recovery mode it was showing an EFS mount error. I managed to fix it with a file I installed through Odin. I then installed CM through the installer and it all worked ok other than my cellular access. I then installed a stock rom I found and I could see the mobile networks but still didn't get a connection. I then installed cm-10.2.0-i9300 but I still have the same problem. Now I can't search for any mobile networks and neither is it connecting to anything. I've tried putting it into Airplane mode and rebooting but that didnt work either.
I installed GetRIL and it shows I have baseband and RIL mismatch, but when I install other RIL's through the software, it still doesnt fix the problem.
Can anyone help!?!?
Hundreds of identical threads, search and read, also 'efs know this stuff' sticky in general forum.
I did have a detailed look but couldnt find any working solutions for my problem. I realised it was linked to my IMEI being corrupt, so I reset my IMEI with Chimera Tool and now it's connecting to the network but is still problematic. It doesn't always connect calls and I have no mobile data at all.
Any ideas on where I can go from here? I don't want to give up having come this close! :crying:
If you already tried all the solutions in sticky thread then take it to a repair centre.
