XBMC works just fine on my N10 anyway
?????
What is the problem with standard Kodi (xbmc). It's running fine on my nexus 10.
I think the deal is that SPMC can be installed as a launcher if you want to use the tablet exclusively for media.

tried it on my Nook Color, doesn't work with the Plex server version for Windows. I can see/browse my media but as soon as I hit play, it stops and drops the connection.
Also, ripped my quite large DVD collection and I have over 100 movies in a list. Large collections will crash the server immediately. Obviously not fully baked yet.
Didn't experience crashes with Plex server, works well for me both on my nook and my iphone. Quality wise I find Airvideo works better for the iPhone. Also note that Plex is smoother in Nookie Froyo than it is in stock nooted form even with a 900mhz overclock on the nooted system.
In the end I'll stick with plex for now since I really like the scrubbing of metadata it does for my library.
Not sure if the libary issue you had soricon was due to too many entries, for me I have 30 tv shows with various numbers of seasons each all organized into folders ( TV\Show\Season X . . ). Plex server is running on Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit, system is a 2.5Ghz core2duo with 4gb of RAM.
I was thinking, that if we used chroot ubuntu and installed chromium (example here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iitOdmb6yvM)
And then installed the netflix plugin in the chrome store (https://chrome.google.com/webstore/d...earch&hcp=main) which lets you run netflix in any chrome browser then...
Shouldn't we potentially be able to get netflix to play on the Touchpad? I havent even gotten mine yet, so i cant test this theory but it should work as far as i can tell.

That is just a wrapper for the site and does not allow Netflix to work in Linux.
Yeah, still does not deal with the fact that no one has compiled moonlight (silverlight for linux) for ARM yet. That may be possible, but it looks like a pain in the butt. That's what really needs done, not the browser.

Well thats probably easier than porting all of android over, which is really the only reason i'd even want android on a touchpad

Seeing as Moonlight doesn't even play Netflix now in Linux on x86 machines, I would say Android is the easier way.
I use PlayOn to stream Netflix & Hulu and they both work fine on the Touchpad. I know it is an additional expense for some but I already subscribed so it was basically free for me.

The touchpad would probably be easier to port android however the compatibility for the Netflix app is pretty awful on android, so it's not even guarenteed that Netflix will work. We still might have to find a workaround of sorts.

Netflix works on plenty of devices. You can side load it onto most and use it just fine. If not, there is plenty a hacked one around.
I am happy with my Nook Tablet with HD Netflix HD Hulu Plus, BUT I got my eye on the Prime. Will the Prime be able to have these 2 apps working without jumping through hoops??

Netflix will run fine as it will support 3.2 and 4.0.1+ for sure. Hulu Plus? Most likely.
That's totally up to Netflix and Hulu. I think that with we might be able to use them out of hte box with HC, but the big question is if they would work on ICS. Given their track record of making slooow changes, I'd wager we might have to wait for ICS versions to work.
..hey from where did you got this application for the tablet ??
because i have installed this newer android ICS update and i am not able to install those applications however !
Hello all,
So with some trial and error, I was able to get my hands on the apks for the Fire TV Versions of HBO Go, Showtime Anytime and WatchESPN. These are all apps we desperately need on our Android Tvs.
The biggest problem right now is that when you sideload these onto your device, they bring up one of three errors.
If you don't have the Amazon Appstore or Amazon Underground installed at all, it will prompt you to install it, then force quit itself.
If you have the Amazon Appstore or Amazon Underground installed, but you are not logged in, the error will prompt you to login and will take you straight to the login page.
If you have the Amazon Appstore or the Amazon Underground, and you are logged in, the error will claim that you do not own the app in question and either show you details or force-quit you.
Now, it seems to me (a humble peasant compared to many people here) that we're approaching this all wrong. So far, it seems like we've been trying to hoodwink the apps into thinking we're running them on Fire TV devices by modifying our build.prop. I have yet to hear this work. Instead I would propose this: what if we stopped the error message from closing our apps after the prompt? So say, in the first scenario, it prompts me to install the Amazon Appstore, I click ok... and nothing happens, leaving me free to use the app normally.
This Youtuber was able to get the HBO Now (not Go) app for Fire TV working somehow using this method
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2h59156pHE
If a brave soul of the XDA community wants to try this and gift us with modified APKs that will run on our systems, that would be fantastic. I can attach the APKs if you need them
UPDATE
I was able to get this to work! DM me for details (if Amazon finds out how, they will shut down this loophole). I was able to get most apps for Fire TV I could get my hands on to work! The only one that consistently gave me issues was the WatchABC app, everything else works 100% (HBO Go is a little sluggish, but Showtime Anytime is buttery smooth )
I would love to get the watchespn apk!

It's already available in one of the threads, I've had it working for the most part. I think if you had a keyboard and mouse it would be even better.
Android TV needs a WatchESPN app. I'm not going to use a mouse to control my TV. I know it works but it's annoying. I'll just cast until they hopefully release one. The Fire TV WatchESPN app is fantastic.

Hi mate, there's an app on FireTV called TVPlayer for UK Freeview channels, it has a really nice UI on FireTV completely different to the regular Android app, wondering if you'd manage to grab that one?

Would it be possible to get an APK for Playstation Vue? Id like to see if I can get it running on my Nexus.
Playstation Vue would be great, if its possible. Its a great service, just wish it was on the nexus player.
Yeah Playstation Vue... Yes, please!
I don't know if you guys noticed - but watchESPN is now a native androidTV app. Easy install from within nexus player's play store. Seems to work great, live streaming works as well. Finally, I was able to get rid of the sideloaded apk.

The new ESPN app works amazingly on Nexus Player, at least in my experience. Now I just need working Amazon, Vudu , and NBC Sports apps

Do you know if the HBO Go app works with comcast, Comcast hasn't approved the use of androidTV devices for streaming but they have for FireOS and regular Android, currently I use the regular Android app, but proper TV UI and remote navigation would be good.
UPDATE:
It does indeed appear to be a separate app that activates has a fire tv device so can be activated with comcast, but its pretty laggy, does anyone have the most up to date fire tv version, I'm running 2.7.06
Looks like I spoke too soon, seems like I can't get anything to actually play, just force closes.
Hello everyone!
Just wanted to post a few teasers for the ROM I've been working diligently on for the past several days.
1. Source built Android 5.1.1 with Native Android TV UI and Settings.
2. 100% working AndroidTV versions of the following apps:
Play store
Play Music
Play Movies & TV
Play Games
Live Channels
Leanback keyboard
Leanback voice search (needs microphone)
Backdrop app (photo screensaver)
Hbo Go
Moonlight Game Streaming (Stream from Nvidia card on PC to Android)
Netflix
PlutoTV
SlingTV (WIP)
Termux Terminal Emulator
Youtube
Currently, all of these applications work correctly except for SlingTV and Netflix - these have issues that still need resolution before release.
3. CAST SUPPORT - This is still a work in progress, but currently, I can establish a cast session between my phone and the device from Youtube and the device responds - but video will not play. I hope to get this working with the help of Xposed before release.
4. Fully rooted and Xposed. SuperSU is already installed and working, I am currently working with NeoMode to get Xposed installed.
5. Android TV Remote App - This currently will allow to pair to device, but does not control. WIP.
So, already, we have a very solid working system image - I would just like to get the "other" features working before we do a release.
Additionally, I believe bluetooth does not currently work with this build - we need to fix that as well.
Either way, making exciting progress, and this should be fit to see the light of day very, very soon.
Wow!! Well done! Amazing stuff and i for one can't wait for the final step in this success story

Man I am excited about this! Need some Lollipop love for my mk903v!! Ready to test and support. Thank you in advance for the work you're putting into this.
Whoa!! Can't wait for this!
I'm very interested in this ROM as well! Also using an MK903V that needs some serious ROM support.
This looks really promising, I can't wait
Awsome any progress on a working rom yet?
I am very interested in this. Any update? Will it work on an IDROIDNATION Pro? I know it's a RK3368 but it would be nice to have an Android TV Rom instead of Google TV.
