[Q] Ghost fingers - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello XDA users, ive been having a lot of issues on my ATRIX Touchscreen, sometimes the screen gets stuck with a some weird case of ghost fingers on my touchscreen that has became more and more annoying these last days because my touch gets stuck, or just open's a hell lot of apps or screens, or just tries to swipe al over and get stuck.
To 'temp' fix this i need to shutdown the screen and then turn it on again, sometimes a battery pull also works allowing to work more time without annoyances.
THINGS I'VE TRIED:
-The ''cooking'' procedure as stated on the Moto DROID forums here (Actually i do have a Milestone II, A.K.A Droid II with the same issue) no good.
-Flashing PDSfix, works for better screen calibration, but goes nuts again at some time (Also PDSfix causes SDcard issues on CM10)
-Cleaning the entire touchscreen with isopropilic alcohol (exterior)
THINGS TO TRY:
-Cleaning the touchscreen internally with alcohol and some clean wipes.
-(WORST CASE SCENARIO) Change the touchscreen...
Thing is, do you guys have another workaround??? Thanks !!

Change the Digitizer/buy replacement unit and do a motherboard swap

Get a priest to exorsise your phone!
Seriously, first check the static electricity, it can cause all sorts of troubles.
You can get a digitizer fairly cheap these days, if you know how to dissassemble the phone, is a good option

I know that feel. I live in Córdoba, so here it's even pricey. Sadly, it's about the only option

INSANE!!! Half Screen Not Working??!

Hello I JUST realized my god damn hero's screen must be broken, or, the mobo is somewhat malfunctioning. I can't seem to be able to access the lower part of my screen.
Not only that, it often "decalibrates" and starts malfunctioning even worse :S I have to go back to the lock screen in order to get it back working for a few minutes.
I'm currently running CM7... Please advice thanks
Any chance it could be a bit of a ROM malfunction? Have you tried any others? That would be what I would try first. Hope it helps
Yes.. I have I tried the latest VillainROM, elelinux's rom and the one I'm currently running... any more suggestions? ...
Known issue with Hero's, Half of the screen dies after a year or so.
Mines half dead as well
I think the digitizer malfunctions.
Unfortunately, the only cure is a replacement of the digitizer or a replacement phone.
I found mine Hero having that behavior today.. screen not responding, jus a part of it, but when i turn the screen off and on again it goes to lock screen, and in lock screen works always, and after unlocking the screen it works for some instants.. :/
Can anyone tell me how much do you think it will cost to change the digitizer?
EDIT: After a cache wipe and dalvik cache wipe as well it's working perfectly
£30 I think. Do search for digitizer aand screen not responding in the Hero forums. There should be instructions and suppliers there.

touch screen issue

I just bought a archos 101 g9 when it was on sale on woot last week and so far it is working pretty good, however I have an annoying problem with it.
If it has been sleeping for over a few minutes (regular sleep, not the deep sleep) and I wake it back up the touch screen goes crazy. The bottom left corner keeps detecting a touch event. It will cycle from multiple on/off touches a second to one on/off every few seconds. If I rotate the tablet to portrait, it will start scrolling the screen none stop to the left. So far the only fix is to do a reboot.
It does not happen every time, just occasionally when I wake it up from sleep.
Today i got a case for it, and whenever it is in the case, the touch screen goes crazy. Same touch events in that same area.
I am guessing something is wrong with the digitizer. Anyone else seen this problem before?
Have the same problem, and as I've read on xda and archosfans forums, this isn't an uncommon issue. We'll just have to wait for a firmware update, as rebooting seems to fix it, so it doesn't seem to be a hardware problem.

I have exactly the same problems.
@ARCHOS: PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A SERIOUS BUG !
Sensitive Touch
I have similar problems with the touchscreen. If I'm holding it with one hand by a corner, it detects touch. The rest of the time it is a little jittery and releases or double taps in games. It's still not a deal breaker, though.
I hope we don't have to swap digitizers to fix it.
Hi !
Me too

I'll give that a try and see if that works. I just got a case and as soon as it is in the case it is even worse.
EDIT: I installed a calibration app on xda and it really made it worse!
What app are you using to calibrate it?
I have a similar issue sometimes.
For me the fix is simply to clean the screen.
The strange thing is, it happens even when the screen doesn't appear to be especially dirty but I put the tablet to sleep, give the screen a serious clean with a microfibre cloth and the touchscreen issues vanish.
Could be a different issue to what you guys are having but the symptoms are the same and it's an easy 'fix' to try.
Hope it helps.

Thanks, I had not noticed that area in the settings before. Recalibrating it in the cover has helped a lot.
I pretty much had this since day 1......
The current state is ; it doesn't work at all then all of a sudden It will pop back into life and then pretty much go "mental" as already described, I also found it reacts poorly to minor temperature variations, i.e going from outside to inside and general day to day travelling. Recalibrating used to "help" but now has no effect.
From watching the debug logs part of me thinks it's a bit of both, hardware and software ( just a hunch ) I noticed the driver fail to get a "ping" response from the hardware a couple of times.
I've pratically given up on it myself and plugged a keyboard and mouse in via a hub on the full size usb...... The hub has now stopped working for some reason , I'm now on a OTG Keyboard with a Virtual Mouse Driver using the numeric keypad and some adb input trickery ,
I've got another touch screen/digitizer to plug in, just not got round to putting it in yet and a little part of me is starting to enjoy finding more elaborate ways of interacting with the device...
Does anyone know who the OEM of the digitizer Unit is? My previous investigation led me to china but information seems to be thin on the ground with this one

[Q] [Go] touchscreen not as sensitive as usual.

Hello, I want your help to fix my xperia go touchscreen problem. Well, Ive searched the similar problem on the forum but what I found is about "touchscreen not working" only.. was, it's very easy to text and slide trough the screens without any "not so responsive screen".. after few months my xgo became less sensitive like before, when I tried to type as fast as usual. The screen cant detect my touch.. I compared with my friend's xgo and it is easier to text on his xgo.. its because I flashed wrong rom? I flashed one roms so far (superJB and currently back on stock with phantom 1.0.9 kernel) thanks.
Xgo .100 JB with UBL.
Open your device's build.prop using any text editor and check
ro.sf.lcd_density=??
Compare its value with your friend's xperia go and edit it accordingly. After you've done with editing, restart your device.
Check screenshot in the attachment.
Note: Do not put value similar to that of screenshot. It is just for your reference.
If I helped you then press Thank you.

My Xperia Go has the exact same problem recently. It just started happening a few days ago and nothing has changed on the device (software etc). I used to be able to text VERY fast but now it sometimes takes a few pushes of the keys for the device to recognise my touch. I can't believe it is anything in the build.prop as this would have suddenly changed right? MY LCD density there is set to 160 (which is the same as default).
Any help appreciated...
EDIT - I also noticed that since my touchscreen has become un-responsive I had got battery drain issues. The last 2 nights I have gone to sleep and when I have woken up my battery is almost dead... hmmm

Nice... because i am planning to replace my digitizer by my self too when i got my digitizer spare . Just need to know what the other things i would need to change it perfectly (Make sure my XGO still have water resistant capability). Sooo... i would appreciate if u could reporting back when you done it .
Same problem.. My phone is not sensitive as usual.. When typing and gaming, it is really annoying.. :'(
How much is the digitizer for Xperia U?
I didn't do nothing and the phone just became not sensitive to touch.. Sliding is good but when I press 3 times to screen.. Only 2 times approx is known to touch..
Help me out ? Only way is change digitizer?
Just make sure u didnt get touchscreen issue from lag. I use custom rom and the touchscreen is feel better, but some area still hard to use because mine is defect already. U could try search on google for ur digitizer price .

[Q] Unresponsive screen on Atrix 4G

Hi,
After I switched to CM7 I started to experience unresponsive or crazy screen. By crazy I mean it's like touch screen calibration is somewhat screwed and it gets touches everywhere. When I turn off screen and on, it is gone. However it starts again after a while. I noticed that when I get my phone out of my pocket, it gets unresponsive. After I clean the surface and do on/off several times it fixes. Sometimes, it doesn't even get fixed so I have to restart the phone.
I also see that after a fresh ROM installation, issue does not appear frequently. After a while, it occurs quite often and my battery is drained as well. I doubt if that is an kernel issue or hardware. But since it drains the battery, it seems like a kernel issue. Have anyone faced a problem like this before?
Try the raindrop fix. If that doesn't work, you may need to replace your digitizer (or alternatively go back to stock ROM if the problem does not show up there).

Thanks ravilov, I didn't know about that. I downloaded and installed it. Problem doesn't seem to fade away but it usually gets frequent after few weeks. I will see what happens. As you said I'll try stock rom next and if that doesn't work either maybe it's time to change my phone.
Sorry to write to an old thread, but my problem is related.
So, after this craziness I wrote in my first post, my screen get totally unresponsive. I cannot use the phone. I decided to change the digitizer. However, the problem still exists even with brand new digitizer. I'm now wondering could it be due to front camera ribbon? I think that's where digitizer is attached to. Any ideas or suggestions on this?
Thanks!

Dead touchscreen, flickering screen- help!

Hi there,
So recently I sold my SGS2 to my brother (in complete working order, I had been using it up until I gave it to him) when I got my n5. He seems to have been getting along fine with it for the last couple of weeks.
He came home today and showed me that the touchscreen is unresponsive (initially tried a battery pull) but no such luck. The other buttons work, and everything appears to be progressing normally with the boot (I can see the wifi connect, he has mobile signal etc.). After about 5 seconds of not interacting with the phone, it dims very slightly and the backlight starts flickering very quickly, but stops instantly if I tap it (although I still can't interact with the device in any other way through the touchscreen), please note this also happens in recovery (so I'm guessing it's hardware).
I've tried doing a factory and cache wipe in recovery but it hasn't helped (I didn't expect it to).
He claims not to have dropped it or got it wet and everything on it is stock (always has been).
Does anyone recognise this issue, or know what it might be/ how hard it would be to fix?
I only sold it to him for £50 as he is family, but I could do without having to give him his money back...
Thanks for any help,
Dan
Difficult to say from this side, if you have the chance to try to check if the connections between the motherboard and the screen are not loose nor unplugged, and do a factory reset, even though I assume it's the hardware here.
If (as I think) a factory reset doesn't solve the problem, I would go for a screen replacement, better if you can try one before buying. If it's not the screen, then go for a mobo replacement. Hope I helped

I'm just uploading a quick video to clarify what is happening. I'll crack it open later a have a look at the connector to see if thats the issue. Do you happen to know if the digitizer and LCD are separate components in the s2?

I've replaced some, they are glued together, and not separable by the user without the right tools (and those are VERY expensive and need training).
