[Q] HTC Desire X water damaged - HTC Desire X

Hi,
My HTC Desire X stopped working when it got wet in rain. After that it never booted. When I connect the charger, the red light is glowing.
Initially I put kept my phone in rice bag for 2-3 days, but it didn't help. Then I kept it under dryer but that also didn't help.
When I checked with the HTC Support center, they said the battery is fine, but motherboard would need to be changed and would cost around 70% of phones cost.(phone currently costs Rs. 10500 and the new motherboard costs Rs. 7000).
So I decided not to change the motherboard and gave the phone to other local repair shop. They said they are also not able to fix my phone.
Now could you please help me on what can be done. Or I just need to forget about my phone and buy new one.
Also in that case, is any of the phone parts are reusable or resalable like camera etc... just asking in case
Regards,
Shashi

Well the company said, your motherboard needs replacing. You can do much to get it working. You can buy a same model motherboard and install it yourself. Or you can just purchase another phone.
The desire x is dead.

Solid Red light = no power

The other night, I put my phone on to charge (OEM charger). When I woke up, the charge light was solid even after I unplugged it from the charger. The phone was off (on when put on to charge) and will not turn on now. I have removed the battery for a while and reinstalled. I have removed the sim also and tried that way. I have read in -other- forums that this either means: 1. Phone is toast. Trash it. 2. Battery cover is damaged.
I bought it on ebay and it worked GREAT for 4 months. I flashed it with 6.1 standard just after I got it. I don't belive that the ROM is bad. As for the cover...Mine fits tight. When I flip it over, I see -1- metal piece on it. As I understand from discriptions, it is supposed to have -2-. I cannot find a picture online verifying this. I don't want to pay $15-$20 for a battery cover when I really need to buy a new phone.
So...anyone know how I can fix it? Any (reasonable) suggestions?
Thanks!
Update
I went to a few cell repair shops. Unfortunately, they told me that the motherboard has a short in it and it will need a new one. They also told me that it isn't worth replacing the motherboard ($150 was the quote I got). It would be best if I bought a new one.
Anyone know where I can get a NEW one? Ebay only has used.
Thanks!

Live With Walkman Digitizer Problem

Hello everybody, this is my first post here, and I hope that I'm not posting in wrong place, if I did that, I am sorry. Now, as the title says, i have problem with the digitizer on my WT19i, the thing is that I cracked my original digitizer, but it was still working great, even broken as hell , than I went to a local mobile shop, where I've been told that the replacement brand new digitizer will cost arround 40 bucks, and arround 50 with their installation and it will be truly genuine part, but after I saw how they were repairing mobile phones with parts flying all over the shop, I decided to replace the digitizer by myself, i mean how hard could it be right? Turned to be a little complicated, but nothing special at all, so I replaced it with new double sided glue tape (don't know for the real name for it), and I assembled the phone like it should be, and I was maximum careful during the process (took me about 5 hours ), but when I turned it on, I noticed that the digitizer was not very precise, and sometimes was stuck in non-workable state, the hard keys work all the time, but the digitizer doesn't, it seems like it has mind of it's own, he decides when to work and how, so I opened the device again, reinstalled everything, cleaned ports with alcohol, and reassembled it very careful again, but still the same issue. Then i tried everything to eliminate software mistakes, but when I opened flashtool, and connected the device, it said "your device is not recognized", so I dissasembled the device, and put the old digitizer in, turned the device on, and imagine, the digitizer was working even it is with missing pieces from it, and Flashtool then recognized the device, installed busybox to the device ( I am sure that I had busybox before, and the device was working great ), but nevermind, I put back the new digitizer, and has been recognized in Flashtool, so I relocked bootloader and installed GB factory rom, v58, so the device is in the factory state right now, but guess what, the same problem is still here, tried hard reset, and many other stuff, but no luck. I tried to go to the shop and they told me that I didn't mounted it properly , I guess it's because I didn't pay to them to mount it, however, they won't replace the part and no money back .. I don't know exactly how to see is the digitizer genuine/faulty, or is some other hardware or software fault, but I've noticed that on the original digitizer it has some barely visible horizontal and vertical lines, and on the new digitizer the same lines are diagonally placed, and I can tell that the new part looks kinda cheap and low quality. So if someone has some kind of a solution, I will be greatly thankful to him. Please help me, because I become desperate about this, spended my money and now I am still in the same mess. sry for the bad english, it's not my native language, and sry for the long and exhausting post.
I guess you won't have luck
Just a short summary:
-Your digitizer was bricked
-You bought a new one for 40 bucks (instead of 50 including replacing in the shop)
-You opened the device and replaced it
-It was not working properly
-You put on the old one and it worked
-You went to the shop and told them it's not working, but they are angry because you tried to do it by yourself and so they didn't want to replace the new digitizer
-The new digitizer looks cheap and you can't get back the money...
Did I get that right?
Hmmm.....when buying original digitizer, make sure there come with tools included in the packages....if your digitizer only then make sure its not from china.....
it's not hard to spot original digitizer and cheap digitizer...original digitizer comes with warranty and the cheap one can be spot by looking at the ribbons....also original digitizer fits perfectly on any LWW while the cheap one will have a small gaps from the cover....
as for you problem, you should ask the shop if the digitizer comes with tools and if there a warranty for it...if it doesn't then you should just lets the shop replace the digitizer cause if somehow any problem came out then you can blame them

Yep, you got it.. is there any solution available for it or should I bent my tail and go buy new one from another mobile shop?
I finally solved the problem. I went to the authorized service, and they said that my digitizer is just fine, charged me 10 bucks, BUT, i was kinda suspicios about the repair, because they told me that the software was reinstalled and the problem was solved, which was ridicilous, because I personally changed and tried every possible software and kernels that I could find, so I tested the device right in front of them, holding other customers behind me waiting until I check it , turned out that the same problem is still present, I was pissed off, they were stunned that I found them lying to me, they took the phone back, changed the digitizer, charged me plus 30 bucks, and here I am, with finally fully working device. I just can't believe that Sony is allowing this to happen, I am totally disapointed in their customer care, and I just wanted everyone who has the same problem, broken digitizer etc. the original digitizer comes with the whole front cover, not only the glass, but the whole thing. I hope this post can help someone to not go through my pain and costs.

Well a suggestion for the future is, make sure your phone doesn't get wet like this..
You should also consider buying a waterproof/rugged case. Plenty of cheap ones on eBay.

Hardware damaged ZTE Z7 mini - (Warranty question)

Hi everyone,
I had ZTE for 2 weeks when I went to the the rainforest in Australia. (Near Mission Beach) It was extremely hot there, they said it was a heat wave. When I last looked at the mercury thermometer it was about 42°C in the sun, It was extremely humid as well. So not really good conditions for any electronics or people I guess?
After 3 days my phone didn't do anything any more, it was completely charged in the morning 2 hours later it didn't do anything it wouldn't unlock screen's completely black.
Things I tried:
- Holding power for a minute.
- Charging it for a full day.
- Hooking it to my computer.
- Waiting a week.
It's completely unresponsive only the red dot appearers when I plug it in.
I contacted the seller and they only responded with:
hello,
sorry for the problem, may I know what is the problem on the phone more clearly? it can;t be turned on after charging?
the phone we sent you was the original one and has been tested before shipment.

Now my question is:
Are there stickers in the ZTE that indicate overheating or water damage or anything like that?
Or any other reason they could refuse me the warranty? Heat and humidity shouldn't be a reason for the phone to die right?
My Oneplus one also did from the heat here in Australia, and they only want to replace it not refund it. So I need to pay to send it back to them, then they send me a new one to Belgium so my family can sell there. Hopefully I will just get my money back for the ZTE because now I'm here with 2 unresponsive smartphones and loads of trouble with the warranty.
Thanks in advance!
Interesting question. I have a Nubia z7 mini, and recently I was in vegas for 1 week, and temperatures there were between 42 and 48 degrees everyday. Never had an issue with my phone. there is no sticker for heat damage. But there is for water damage, its under the cover.
To be honest I would not have mentioned heat to the seller, I would of said it just didnt turn on one day for no reason. unless you got it wet, there should be no issue getting a replacement or repair I doubt they will refund your money.
That is the one big down side of buying imported Chinese phones. The way I see it is once you own the phone your on your own. Dont expect great customer service or warranty cover once your money is handed over. If they offer to repair or replace I would just get the phone back to them asap even if it costs you shipping as you are lucky you have a seller that even replies to your emails!

[Q] Dead Phone, Now What?

So I have come to the conclusion that my phone is totally dead. No lights or any response from pushing or holding any combination of buttons, and the charge indicator doesn't come on. No USB activity either. It just died one day while streaming music.
I have picked up a ZTE Zinger as a stand-in, so not in any rush.
Now what do I do with the One? Looking at repair costs, it seems I could just replace it with a very nice used one for even money.
I wouldn't mind selling on Ebay for repair purposes, but I'm not going to do that without being able to wipe it.
Suggestions?

No warranty of any sort. It just sits on a shelf looking pretty, as in totally mint looking, never dropped. :/
Going to just hang onto it for now in case my son is in need of any pieces if something happens to his M7.
The up side is that for about twice what repairs would have cost, T-Mobile had a perfect condition M8 refurb to sell. It really does take what is great about the M7 and kick it up a notch, plus the SD card slot.
The Zinger is destined to become an IP security webcam.
I'm in the same boat. I assume there's no way to wipe it in this condition?
In that case can't even sell it for parts, though from what I've read you don't want to open it anyway because it's too difficult to do w/o damaging it.
