My sister is in Shanghai on China Mobile, and she found a deal on a gs2 out there.
However in Canada she uses TELUS, which uses hspa on frequency bands 850/1900 mhz. TELUS does NOT use GSM. She wants to be able to use it in Canada too.
I was doing some Googling and I found that the China Mobile gs2 uses a different technology for their 3G but I'm not 100% sure.
Does anyone know more about this? Please let me know, thank you.

there are 3 types of phone sold in China
Korean version (with the stuff for korean tv, nfc etc)
European version
and Hongkong version.
they advice chinese customer to buy the hongkong version if in the future china get the 4G. they say the european version wont work for it.
that's all I can tell you, I'm dumb with all the technical stuff
Oh really! That is helpful tho, thank you.

No, the GT-I9300 model does not and will not support 4G. This is the reason why the US Variants use a different SoC, as it has an inbuilt support for 4G, while the Exynos SoC does not.
4g is an absolute battery killer from what I can gather anyway, so not really bothered, do most of my downloading at home or over openzone
I reckon a Korean version would still give you the superior Exynos SOC, 2GB RAM and LTE/4G. I'm looking for somewhere to buy them. AFAIK Korean Telecomms use the same radio spectrum as we do.
The LTE version will soon be available in Germany,
Contact Orange in UK!!!!!!

Yes that would work, although I would contact orange and see if they would comment on this, although try to make sure it would go through to someone in the UK not someone in India who is reading from a script!
If you do buy it from Korea be careful with ROM's and don't forget about import tax!
Hi guys,
I live in Vietnam, but do love Optimus G and intend to buy an at&t model. So, I wonder if I can contact via email with at&t to get my unlock code (I will buy one from Amazon and have it shipped to Vietnam). Is it possible, for free or with some extral fee?
I also found some sites that give unlock code for about ten bucks or even for free, but's I'm still confused if that at&t will work normally as an international version on Asia's GSM netwoks or not.
Could you guys confirm or give me suggestions? Thanks a bunch!

From AT&T's site the phone works on GSM/GPRS/EDGE 850/900/1800/1900 MHz (link)
According to a couple of sites, Vietnam has both 900 and 1800 bands available...
Hi guys...im from brazil and next month ill be on US so i have the chance to buy Alpha...but i need to know wich version will work on brazilian LTE frequency (2600)...at&t version (G850a) or international one (G850F)

According to Samsungs website, the G850F/International one supports the 2600 LTE band (B7)
This is from the UK Samsung site, and in the UK we get the International SM-G850F model.

Has anyone been able to get their hands on an LTE version? I'm curious how long it will be before it gets to the US.
Hopefully my UK version should arrive today. Will share findings tomorrow.

I got my LTE one last Friday from Samsung UK, would have preferred a Silver one (had received a Silver Wifi one last week) as the black just attracts fingerprints but it works very well!
Got the wifi but swapping for the 4G which should turn up today. Excellent customer service from Samsung
Positives
- Screen quality good even though PPI not as good as the older Note 10.1 2014 edition. Perhaps better graphics processing. Screen very fast and responsive
- WiFi seems very fast
- holds LTE Signal really well
Not sure about the S Pen functionality yet. The fine pen option is not that fine! But S Pen works well with OneNote

when is it coming to USA or Canada or ebay for that matter?
I just bought this one. I am hoping it also has calling features enabled as it's not for US. Also it covers Tmobile LTE bands, as per the information.
Ebay

Should have got the sm-t825y version , supports umts 3g also, same bands as the sm-t819y.
Doesnt look like samsung is in any rush to sell the US spec lte 4g version here.
Im gonna wait til the sm-t825y is more freely available then perhaps sell my sm-t819y. Same bands, plus makes voice calls too, which im sure usa version will be disabled.

Canada was the first to get the S3
We'll probably be the last to get the S3 LTE (or perhaps not at all). Eh, it might be for the best anyway.
I've tended to use my phones as a hotspots lately because of this (not having LTE or cell variants of tablets/laptops up here) but also due to battery life being better on my phones just using them as hotspots (practically naked of apps running in the background) vs. using them by themselves with apps + cellphone data (because as long as the phone is connected to network apps call home with phone off). This also causes other devices to not eat as much battery, because once the Internet's off completely, nothing will consume battery in the background. I don't like turning on/off Airplane mode all the time just to save some battery, and can't control other "features" I don't need (or can't turn off, like default apps background push data) unless rooted, but I want Netflix so gotta be chaste.
I'd like to see some battery stats on LTE vs WiFi versions, due to the nature of always-on apps.

Yes, it does. Unfortunately, it doesn't have US LTE bands (besides band 5). But HSPA+ is pretty good though on T-Mobile in my area.
I was reading the info on it on Amazon, the info can be misleading there then. It states quote on quote "This model provides for LTE connectivity on all GSM networks throughout the globe. No support for CDMA though (Sprint, Verizon, etc.) "

I think the information on all the current seller sites are inaccurate, they are all copy and paste from the generic spec of the SM-T825 model. I think most of the LTE version seller on eBay and Amazon is selling the SM-T825C model, which is the "Chinese/HK" version of the tablet without proper US LTE band support. It does support US GSM Bands for calling and data.
The SM-T825Y model, while it's the common model in the SE Asia Region (Singapore, Philippines...etc) and Europe, supports T-Mobile US LTE bands (2,4). However, I have yet to find a seller in the US (or ships to the US) that inidicate that they are selling the Y version besides a company called ETOREN. So you probably ned to wait a while until the Y version becomes more common.
Would have been nice to get a Y version, but I guess I will just have to work around the LTE part with my hotspot if I need the speed .

It is indeed awesome. I just use the official keyboard case for typing convenience and keep the back somewhat protected.
