Hello,
I have read there are many ways to root the 9100P:
in your opinion which one is the best method?
anyone please ?
@LiquidEr you could try framaroot or to flash first an recovery like philz if you are on stock dont forget to find a good kernel/recovery matching your rom since the S2 has both in one and then flash an flashable su zip. Or try to find one flashable root with odin.
Try framaroot first and if that doesnt work find another application that root your phone.
Or try this through your stock recovery if you are still on stock 4.1.2:

Hi,
Can anybody tell me if i root my s2 (currently on KF3 firmware) with cf method and flash stock kernel, will i be able to install new ROMS like litening etc,how ?, and will i be able to come back to my stock firmware and kernel, and how ?
thanks in advance !
You can flash any Custom firmware anytime, without root. And you can go back to Stock firmware and kernel anytime.
Regards.
so if i root(by a method you earlier told me),can i also use any rom on that ?if yes then how and also can you please tell me how to come back to stock rom(before flashing with custom rom) state ?
You just need to add the .tar file of the Custom firmware in PDA section of Odin and flash, same for Stock ROM.
Regards.
you can root your phone as ihappy said but use the threads on the forums to find the stock kernels and roms that suit you. and i mean by what region you at. most of the custom roms come with root anyway so i would not worry about rooting. the thing is though whenever you do flash always make backup. first time i flashed i did not do backup and i was panicking on how to go back to stock.but thankfully the guys in this community are the best around and helped me out. hope my post helped in anyway
Hi all.
I have sucessfully installed the new samsung official ROM (ICS 4.0.3) via Odin.
I would like to know if it is possible to use the quick root guide described here for rooting the phone using one click root.
It seems that the current insecure version of the kernel for ICS 4.03 is not available but there are guys using CF-Root for rooting the device.
I would like to avoid to use CF-Root, because I do not want the CMW recovery, but I would like to keep the phone as near as possibile as the "standard version".
There is a way to do this yet or not?
If not there are alternatives methods?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501719
But this will lead to install CMW... something that I would like to avoid (like I wrote in the post).
Having a custom recovery do not prevent the opportunity to do updates via kies?
And moreover, in case of problem, how can I remove che recovery?
you will not install cwm you need this to install the unsinged zip...
Sorry, I have replied before finishing reading the whole thread the recovery is not persistent.
I will give it a try. Many thanks!
Dear all,
I know there are multiple threads running for the same, but still i was not able to understand most of the way. Am having SII which is running on Android 4.0.4, I want to root my phone so that i can install Jelly Bean Rom available in the forum.
last i have rooted Galaxy Spica 5700, but it required flashing device with Odin and instillation of a new kernel. But it seems like many new things have came up. Can someone please post me Point by point procedure of rooting my device with ClockworkMod recovery.
Plenty of threads that answer this question in detail. No need for people to duplicate topics or answers.
look at this

If you know how to flash kernels via odin its simple. Just download siyah kernel for i9100 , install the drivers required fr odin , flash the kernel in download mode. It will give you rot access and CWM recovery. Then yo can boot into recovery, wipe data/cache and install any rom you want. But do not wipe anything n stock recovery since you are on 4.0.4 (which has the brick bug)
you can also root by stock recovery just by flashing a single .zip file. But if you know the way to do it by odin i suggest the odin mehtod.
and to flash JB....MobileOdin Pro.......so you'll forget about rooting with the EverRoot option........................beware of the wipes with 4.0.4 tho, that crap is nasty.
Hello, and many thanks for your great efforts here. I have purchased a new i9100p mobile. Now, i want to root then try a new ROM. My kernel is 3.0.15-i9100pxxlps-cl674609, so i have downloaded a root file '' CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_LPS-v5.4-CWM5'' is this right?
second thing, after making it with odin, do i have to install superuser? or just root with the above file and i am rooted? and later i can install any ROM.
last question, now i am on 4.03 originall stock firmware, and i want to try custom Rom 4.4.1, is it possible after rooting?
help me please, i am a noob
The CF Root method is meant for the I9100. But since I9100P is almost identical to the I9100 (except for NFC), that file should work. However, I suggest you go for Philz kernels, which includes root kernels meant for the I9100P also.
After flashing CF Root or Philz kernels via Odin, you don't need to install Superuser app. It will be installed automatically. And yes, you can try any custom ROM after rooting, including 4.4.1.
hey guys,
So I decided to install a custom rom and as I understand I need to root the phone and install a custom recovery but I don't want to brick my phone.
When I searched for how to do that for the alpha I found several methods like kingroot and ODIN.
I installed G850FXXU1COI1 manually using ODIN.
My question is what is the surest way to root and install a recovery for the alpha (850F model) ?
First of all, what is your galaxy alpha model, and yes, the first step is to install root app like super su, then you can look for custom recovery that is the most essential tool for installing custom rom.

It's the 850F model.
And mentioning the root, does the phone stay rooted even after installing a new rom ?
UP!
150 members saw this thread and not one of them has rooted his phone before ?!!
If I remember correctly:
- First instal twrp http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...overy-openrecovery-twrp-2-8-sm-g850f-t2931017
- root with chainfire autoroot https://download.chainfire.eu/529/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-slte-sltexx-smg850f.zip
- now you can install a custom rom
Good luck
