I installed cm 11 on my phone today and i am downloading titanium backup and it says Root access: XFailed
Install supersu
Root is needly working, otherwise you haven't to install a custom rom... but you already did it.
Try to reflash the rom. If you continue to have similar problems, do a Titanium Backup, then a Nandroid backup and try to do a full wipe via recovery.
If you solved the problem, reinstall Titanium and restore only important "data" (I highly recommend you install and config manually the rest).
So, obviously you can delete the Nandroid backup, it's heavy and useless.
If root continues to be problematic, do newly it via Odin.
You might lost all data: if it happens, restore via recovery your Nandroid backup.
I hope I was exhaustive

Haha, I said a madness... sorry.
You can use MyBackups as alternative. If root permissions fail, it will usually works (with the limitation of excluding applications data, for eventual Whatsapp conversations you can do a backup from itself settings).

The first attempt is this, you'll not lose any data.
If you not solve, do a full wipe via recovery, then reflash latest CM 11 and the Gapps.
Do as broken920 said and install supersu.
The superuser app built into CM11 uses older files and Titanium backup doesn't like them.
Make sure in settings, superuser, settings "Superuser access" is set to "apps and ADB"

nandroid backup will restore full status every application u want or not
can't individual backup
u may don't want backup everyday with 250-300 mb mybackup pro & titanium are just fine working
Sorry if this is a stupid question, but if Titanium is already installed & working, why would I want to install it in Recovery mode? I read changelog 3.2.9.2 but it's not completely clear to me. Is it so that after flashing a ROM I can install TB in Recovery, so that when I reboot, everything is fully restored, without having to reinstall TB from the Market? And, if so, is that what actually happens, or is it just for convenience sake?
+1 and amen...
I thought the update.zip contains all the apps and data, so it would be easier to install via the recovery.
Can anyone advice me on what can be done if anything?. I have a S3 LTE Gt-I9305 I installed Titanium Pro and CWM. Did back ups on both and then decided to only keep CWM and promply went on to flash my ROM. It looks like the Ripper ROM has loaded but the touch screen won’t work visually it works fine but to unlock the screen, nothing happens. What could be the cause?. Secondly is there any way to re install titanium back on the phone as I have titanium backup files and hope that will restore the phone back to normal. Any advice???.
CWM & Titanium Back backups are two different things. CWM does a nandroid backup which includes your complete phone setup at the time of backing up. Titanium only backs up apps (user & system) & data.
Hence if you want to return to your old phone's setup you have to use your CWM backup.
Maybe read some of the guides in the FAQ thread to get up to speed on flashing, backups etc. first before you move on!

Thanks!. I know they two different thngs, hence me asking if there is any way of restoring Titanium back onto the phone, as I think the reason the touch screen on my phone may not be working because there could be a system file missing which CWM has not backed up. And CWM won't restore Titanium files or not that I am aware of.

Sure you can restore from Titanium, but I guess a safer bet in your case would be to do a factory wipe and flash a stock ROM. Easier and cleaner way as CWM usually backups any file, would be strange if it misses a few.
anyone know how to restore just the SMS data history from Nandroid backup?

Mmm.... Thats the problem I have done a factroy wipe and flashed a stock ROM didn't seem to help. Not even too sure i might have even accsedentally deleted a file from the phone when it was connected to my pc. and without the screen working I don't know that I can re load Titanium as the screen touch pad won't work.

even if you deleted a file, you should be able to flash a stock ROM via Odin in Download Mode (as far as the hardware buttons still work).
If you really flashed a stock ROM already, you could still try to flash your nandroid via CWM (should also support navigation via hardware buttons or not?), and if this doesn't work I am out of options :-/

1. Sync your Account to Google.
2. Install the 30 days trial of https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rerware.android.MyBackup&hl=en then after Rooting you can use Titanium Backup Free or Pro.
TWRP is good for JB.

thanks for helping, it worked, one more question, do I need to take a complete backup (data+ system+ boot) everytime I flash a zip so that if anything goes wrong, I can restore, & also how can I remove a zip which I flashed, for eg. I flashed Xperia launcher, but its buggy, how can I remove it? I tried uninstalling it with Titanium backup but it shows up again after restart..

Its good to take Backups!
To remove Flashed Zips, Edit the Updater Script in the zip file and add the rm or rmdir command for the files that were added.
Check which all files were added and where. Remove them manually or use the updater script method I said above.
I use to flash new Roms every time. But then everytime I have to install the basic apps again from playstore .
To avoid this reinstalling , I made titanium backup of apps and I restore apps on different Roms from titanium backup app. But here problem is I have to root the rom to use titanium backup on every rom.
I just want to ask , how can I make a flashable zip of some important apps so that with new rom flashing I can flash this all zip too....so that apps get installed without root.
And as flashing from twrp install gapps in system partition ...so can i install apps in data partition from twrp recovery ?
Use nandroid Backup

Look carefully there is an option for making flashable zips for backup in Titanium backup itself so just find it and use it but i would suggest to try and check it first because it doesn't always work so try it first before fully relying on it.

There is an app in playstore app2zip or something developer @jrummy
please try that too and report back .
First make backup of all apps in titanium with data. Then just tap on "tickmark" button on top-right corner. Here find "Recovery Mode" and Run recovery mode with desire apps with data. Name it whatever you like.
Now Go to twrp and flash that "Recovery.zip" file that you created in flashing zip. Restart phone after 1-2 times to make it stable. (you will probably can get app crash frequently by flashing zip"
But I think in this method too you need installed titanium backup for "app-data" installation. (All apps will installed without titanium backup but you need TB for data installation)

I think miui has better options for local backup which u will not find in custom roms. I hope our devs should have included this in custom roms.
If i remember There are 2 options in miui
1-User settings
2-Apps and data
If u moving from one from custom rom to another then its always better to backup and restore only "apps and data".. Never restore" User settings". Coz restoring user settings brings bugs and crashes. Coz different custom roms got diffrent tree.
Make sure if u backup using titanium then never backup user settings. Only backup apps and data.
