WinMo for HTC One MAX - HTC One Max

So I got an email today from HTC or Verizon. Can't remember which one. It says that the HTC one M8 comes in a Windows Mobile version. Does anyone know if we can port it?

I don't think anyone would try to port that over. Getting a m8 rom is hard enough to port down.

Ok. Was really just curious anyway. It would be cool to dual boot but not as a replacement OS.

@abadasstanker69
Would you or anyone want MIUI ?

I'm not a HUGE fan but its nice to have choices. MIUI seems too iPhone-y to me. Although the newest version (6?) I've heard, fixed that and made it WAY more customizable.
I like the WinMo option the best because of the integration with ms games and office365 etc. If I could dual boot anything it would be WinMo and android. I did that for YEARS with my titan. WinMo for work, android for home. It was awesome.

I think you mean windows phone. Windows mobile is dead. It would be nearly impossible honestly.

@Flyhalf205 if it's easy enough to bring across then having a lot of variety of roms is always great. A lot of us lot are flash crazy so I would be happy.

And I only think windows option/request is popping up from HTC bringing out the new HTC one m8 windows phone. In my opinion I doubt it will do brilliantly as I do feel windows phones have dropped in demand...

I would love to have miui again. I've ran it on every phone I've owned that has been android. And I see it's on all of the other HTC Ones, just not the max. I've tried porting. But I can't seem to get the coding down right. So just keep wishwishes developer would eventually get to it.

No it's not possible to run WP7 on the one x. You could try and port WP7 but that would be a ridiculous amount of work. But if your up for the challenge go for it

Are you interested in running Ubuntu on your EVO?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-20891868
Is this the full OS?
I mean it's not even released yet I can't judge it. But from the looks of it looks nice but I don't think it will be a primary os for me.
I Would Give It A Try. Idk If Its Gonna Be A Long-Term Relationship Though.

if they zip it, I will flash it.
I would rock ubuntu on my phone as a second OS / dual boot option for sure ..

If They Make A ROM For The OG Evo, I'll Definitely Flash It. (My EVO 4G Is Like My Testing Phone). If I Like It Then...Maybe On The LTE.

This looks awesome. Saw it earlier today in the gnex forum. But that was just screenshots, a banner, not an actual article.
I don't get it, in the article, they talk about,. "...meh, who wants a full fledged PC OS on a phone?". I ask, ...who doesn't? I loved winmo because it WAS like a PC on my HTC diamond (after removing TF3D/manila). In fact, it was using winmo that gave me the nerve to turn on and use a PC (yes, I'm old and computer illiterate) . Who knows, maybe this OS could give me the nerve to boot Ubuntu on a PC lol

I saw a hands-on with this thing. It is very pretty as far as I can tell, really useful and really fun. As soon as there is a working build, I'll flash it.

Oh Hell Yes I would flash it on my phone. In a heart beat! I've been running Ubuntu on my computer since 2007. The only reason why I have a windows machine at home is to play Diablo 3. Give me a working flash, and I am down like donkey kong!

HTC Infobar

So I just randomly came across this on flipboard, I found the UI to be intriguing!!
Part of me isn't sure if the DNA would be able to run the software very well, at least not without a lot of work, and I have no coding experience. I, however, think it would be awesome to run this on the DNA. If there are any Devs out there that would be able to get ahold of the software and would be able to attempt cooking this for the DNA I would be very happy and excited to run this UI.
Here is a video of the UI:

HtC DNA
XDA App
Yeah, it is definitely Windows-espue on the middle screen, but more advanced (I can see how some might find it slightly cluttered, I like it though). The right screen seems very much like the Android UI, just flipped at 90° (vertical page scrolling vs. horizontal). I would be fine without the left sceen; I guess it would make finding certain things a little easier though.
I just wish/hope some of the awesome devs in the DNA community would be able to get ahold of this and make some magic!

Will MHL Ever work of say cm10.1?

I am wanting to be able put my screen on a projector or tv it would be nice if we could do this with the newer roms thanks
Sent from my ADR6300 using xda app-developers app
It may happen someday, it's probably not a high priority issue with the devs working on the AOSP based roms though, stick to Sense if you need MHL... It looks like it's working on some Sense 4 based roms now...

I dont think we will ever see MHL work in a AOSP rom, not so much a CM10 thing as its a AOSP thing. I want to say that it has to do something HTC code and not a google code. I could be wrong, but for as long as AOSP has been on this phone, i dont beleive MHL has ever been support on it
---------- Post added at 04:31 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:27 PM ----------
Actually just jumped over to the dev part, and it appears the MHL is a sense only thing meaning that it does have to do with some sort of HTC that is most likey closed source. So it will probably never happen
thanks I am just trying to figure out if I want the droid razr or this phone and the razr has hdmi and that is part if the phone lol also it runs android 4.1 out of the box now and I am just thinking if it will be supported longer with the devs because of that.

the rez is an older phone so i would imagine that support for it will start to drop in the near feature as HTC moves away from it, there will be less and less support because we are currently getting bits and pieces from other HTC phones to get JB to work as the rez will prob never see it. So as the 8660 platform goes away, we will be seeing less and less stuff happening for this phone...its sad, but its what happens
so would the razr be more supported?
Sent from my ADR6300 using xda app-developers app
Well the org RAZR was released around the same time so its prolly going to be in the same situation at some point. It depends what your doing with it. You will have more options with an HTC phone then a moto because moto is notorious for locking the boot loader so devs tend not to work with them. Not that there isn't custom ROMs just not as much. Personally if it was me I would say the rez. I have one and love it and support isn't going to drop tomorrow for it. Its still a good phone with decent hardware. The problem we will run into is new OS support. Like we might not see klp on the rez. It might stop at jb but that yet to be seen. Both phones are very good I know ppl that have the RAZR and love it. The few features you don't get with cm based ROMs with the rez def should not stop you from considering it. The dev for this phone is still strong and still has a huge support following

its a sense only thing because its not just an HDMI port. HTC has the code for the MHL and they aren't sharing.
i think its a money thing. if we had source we could make every phone have MHL

different drivers and lib files. when it comes to proprietary systems, companies like to keep the source under lock and key. although HTC does have source for sense. but it's above my paygrade to work with it.

Sent from my Infected Rezound using Tapatalk 2
The rezound is not bad just pick the razr has hdmi and it has official jellybean so it should.be supported longer that'd be the main thing. Also it is a little cheaper by $30 also it seams in the reviews that the razr is a little faster also benchmarking in is faster by a little. Also it seams that it is a little beater on viewing angle s. But idk I have to get the money from selling things on eBay and that did not happen they never paid ug. Let me know what u think thanks

Ow another thing the rezound seams to be very thick and they have the same or similar battery I think the razr has a bigger one at that it is more stylish lol and the screen is wider too

The screen may be wider, but if you compare them side by side, I believe you will choose the rezound. 720p and much higher PPI. You can watch movies on this phone comfortably and they look great. But for battery, the razr wins, unless you get an extended, but it will make the rezound 2x thick. Still, the screen is something to behold...
Well I think the rezound Is good just some of the things the razr has out weighs the rezound. Thank you to all for you help!

Just traded my Galaxy S4 for the One.

At first, wasn't digging the briwser, because it's slower than the s4, but this thing is silky smooth with apps and etc.
Although I'm kinda pissed, because the guy I traded with had a pretty busted up ONE, and lied to me on the phone about the phones condition, while I had a mint condition s4.
Overall satisfied. Screen size could be better, but overall nice.
Why do you prefer the ONE over the s4.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
I had an htc one, then went to the s4, and bow I'm going back to the one on Tuesday and selling the s4 to a dear friend. I found the stock htc browser faster than touchwiz. Touchwiz lags on me big time. But I found out about next browser a few minutes ago By I really really like it. Works really well. Check it out. But I prefer the one because the interface is cleaner and faster than touchwiz. Also feels better in the hands

Are you talking about the stock HTC browser? Did I get a defective phone? Not being a smart ass. I really think I did. The stock browser literally takes 10-15 seconds to load certain websites.
Chrome is good, but I find that the HTC is horrible with scrolling and moving around the page.

I would imagine load times are very dependent on your internet connection. Especially if the web page contains a lot of pictures/flash/videos/anything besides text.

OK, NVM. Now the stock browser wants to be fast. I must've been doing something really wrong before, or maybe pages loaded from bookmarks are slow. Its very fast now.
