AOSP Rom - Galaxy S III Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone, I'm searching for a good Aosp rom for my s3.
I have tested P.A (from 4.41 to 4.5 beta 2) but I have SystemUI FCs or after unlocking...
I have tested CM11 M9 too and nightlies, but I have systemUI FCs too when unlocking... And other bugs.
I have tried Aokp, liquid smooth, dirty unicorn, resurrection remix, but I have a lot of bug too...
For me the more stable was CM and PA but there is not a lot of personalization (forced to used Gravity box )
So if you can tell me a good aosp rom please ? :/
And I'd like to know (for CM) who is better, nightly or snapshot ?
Thanks ^^
And sorry for my bad English

Snapshots are considered more stable, but according to my experience nightlies are stable too, you have simply to consider from how many times a rom is under development: 4 months generally are enough.
I prefer M builds to prevent my compulsive system upgrading
And yes, in CyanogenMod systemui is the worst thing especially in my device. It freeze my device for some minutes before goes to FC.
Since few days I aborted the Dalvik world and the greatful GravityBox.
I'm on ART with better performance and battery saving, but mainly with better stability.

Okay thank you all, actually I'm testing PacRom and it looks great for the moment only one SystemUI Fcs since yesterday
About ART, I have lose 1500 point in Antutu with CM and somde lags... I prefere keep Dalvik because I use a lot of module xposed ^^

I understand that you want to keep Xposed, but prefer Dalvik to have a greater AnTuTu benchmark score is ridiculous!
ART runtime, is "officially" better than Dalvik runtime, but is under development still and requires more free storage space.

Yeah but if ART had less score than Dalvik, its maybe because the s3 don't support ArT very well etc...
And I have lags on Art :/

It's strange, me and almost everyone are having the opposite experience.

You are on a little different Boeffla kernel, which use the Samsung proprietary drivers instead the open source smdk4x12.
According to Lord Boeffla, it should be worst than the known Boeffla kernel.
What's your experience with?
Thanks, we can be useful also for OP [emoji6]

Nope... The Samsung sources are actually better than the smdk4x12 which are synced to Samsung sources upto Update7(hence outdated, with crappy performance/battery life) whereas current Samsung sources are upto Update14, that's why he decided to make the NG Kernel in the first place...
But don't u think this is getting a bit too off topic for this thread?

Partially agree... partially disagree because OP can consider also Boeffla NG as own kernel.

surprised no one mentioned archidroid 2.x
using it for 2 weeks no fcs or reboots
good battery life

Cyanogenmod 7.1 Stability and performance?

I was thinking of switching from checkrom to cyanogenmod, because its an aosp rom. Hows the general stability of cyanogenmod in the galaxy sII? Is the camera app perfect? I wanna know about stability and battery life too.. thanks.

I used to use CM7 but the devs sort of left it to work on CM9, which by the way is going to be awesome.
When is cm9 going to come out?the stable version I mean?

I've been using the Unofficial builds (link) of CM7 for a couple of weeks and had no problems. It has never crashed for me (some users have reported that it sometimes can crash when using the market). The camera app works with no problems, but the stock Android camera app don't have as many features as the Samsung camera app (I don't really care since I use a camera app from the market). The battery life is really good in my opinion. It definitely gets me through a day of normal usage, though it depends on how much you're using your phone.
And all the apps from the market work just fine?
Sent from my GT-P7500 using XDA App
i use cm7 b4 , the performance is awesome and stable
Choose the latest nightlies, they're 7.2 RC's. They're more stable than the stable release which in the end became a 7.1 RC, not to mention more features, etc...
The latest Buildbot official build is #116 on the Cyanogen Mirror Network. Codeworkx posted #117 on his blog here: http://codeworkx.de/wordpress/2011/12/17/cyanogenmod-7-12172011-galaxys2/
There are various unofficial builds, etc... but I haven't used any of them in a long time. There were some useful changes after #117 that the unofficial builds would have. None of them (that I can recall) critical to core functions however.

CM10 vs AOKP?

Which one do you prefer and why? just curious
I prefer CM10 just because I'm used to it, but AOKP has way more customization options and overall performance seems better.

yea same here. I couldnt get over the status bar toggles in aokp but got used to aokp now lol. Tho i still wish the toggles icons could have a dimmer color like in cm10

Yup i agree it has more features and its more smoother than cm. Atleast faster than the last cm10 release i used (5 oct i think). Most noticably the notification pulldown comes more smoother.

i prefer aokp since it would be actually stabler then cm10
cm10 needs hacks and mods in source to run on armv6
and aokp has already sources for armv6 builds
native armv6 support by AOKP? ?
what does AOKP have/do what CM10 does not (-have)?
afaik its the same OS having the same problems for eg: cam/pics/HQvids....
but im no dev....

that makes sense. I guess then in aokp they would have less workarounds to make stuff work

It might sound kinda silly but for all of AOKP's smoothness I prefer CM10 mainly because I have the option to remap the buttons. I prefer to use the menu key as a recent apps button thing and my home button lost its sensitivity so yeah I do prefer CM10. Apart from that the toggles look so much better.

some of the tweaks from supercharger and p.m.r might clash
Do I cheat if I say PAC?
I prefer Cyanogenmod. It's a bigger community and has more support. Aokp is something that doesn't really add much for me. Most of the time I'm on the stock CM/aosp look anyway.

That's what I thought too. But even using only nims11 JB kernel and pimp my rom, battery life still not so good. Except from that, AOKP is great!
I prefer AOKP because of its smoothness and speed. The only thing that puts me off AOKP is the battery life, because I find it hard to get through one day without charging the battery.

I'm on PAC. If the battery sucks, check whether the cpu is deep sleeping or not.

Slimkat or omni? Development will start!

Hello guys,
Been quite a while, but now my Z1 needs a repair/replacement so I'm back to my old Neo and I wanna make a fast rom for it. I'll make 1 rom with a tweaked kernel
The question is, which rom do you guys prefer?
- Slimkat: well known rom, doesn't need any explanation I think
- Omni: same story
My preference goes to slimkat
Let me know!

Mainly browser lags ( Of course fix is available)
Cam quality is poor
Audio quality is poor
FM, HDMI do not work
WIFI, Bluetooth drops
Battery consumption is very high with wireless connectivity.
These are my main observations

Which 4.4 ROM for our Xperia's.

Hello, I would like to know your opinion about these 3 ROM's.
- CM11
- SlimKat
- Paranoid
By now I was using CM11, but it was old version with a lot of bugs. Interface in Paranoid and SlimKat is a lot better than CM11. Which one will be the best (no bugs, fast, look)?

Cyanogenmod made such a crappy work that they shouldn't have done anyway.
The result is a nightly that:
-White screen when offline charge
-No hotspot
-Unstable
-Graphical issues
-Random reboots
-Freezes when disabling auto rotation
-Laggy
-Horrible general graphics performance
Many other bugs,i don't remember.
Flash cyanoid/Optimus rom.
They're full of hotfixes/debugging and offer an acceptable level of performance.

Its obviuos:No good ICS rom,No 3.X kernel we can't flash CM9 and expect no lags.
The best rom 4.0 now is regits one,but it lags anyway.
Still you can get 4.0 experience with a mixed 2.3.6 rom that looks like ICS.
But it isn't
