D802 HardLocked - G2 General

Hi mates,
Bought an second-hand D802 without checking the lock status. It worked when I tested it, but after a couple of hours it gave out the "SIM card removed - The mobile network will be unavailable until you restart with a valid SIM card inserted". The phone automatically rebooted after 5 seconds and when it restarted it just said Invalid SIM.
It kept doing this many times a day. I needed to restart it 3-5 times to get it back with a signal.
Took it to a friend that has an Octopus Box, he struggled to Repair the security, even got the IMEI 0 but managed to restore it. Unfortunately with no success because the phone is in the same state. He software unlocked it again but with the same "Invalid SIM - Please insert a valid sim and restart".
I read throughout the forum that an EFS restore from another working factory unlocked D802 might get rid of the Hard Lock status, but no one confirmed a success for any G2 model.
Does anybody have the slightest idea of what can be done ?
Thanks!

Ok so I downgraded to 4.2.2 and now testing to see if the "SIM card removed - The mobile network will be unavailable until you restart with a valid SIM card inserted" error disappeared. It displayed the first time I started the phone but let's hope it won't reappear. If in 2-3 days it will be all ok I will put out a guide for everyone that has this error with the G2.

Having the same issue. My phone is the d801. I had a backup efs but restoring it hasn't helped at all. Flashed stock kitkat rom and it worked for a few hours without the problem but now it's back up again.

I too flashed to 4.2.2 and it worked for a few hours but then started acting up again. Luckily after scouring for hours discovered it could be my sim card. Went and replaced it and now back up and running
but for anyone else there is a better how on returning to 4.2.2 than the one here on xda. Google pastebin Restore Stock G2 Firmware and there's a step by step with photos.

May be you can do factory reset...if still not working return to where you bought. You can search this forum, how to do factory reset.
I had the same problem after installing the MIUI ROM. However, it still showed the keypad to enter my PIN code, which I did, and the error disappeared after that.
i had the same problem, so, after a couple tests, that´s the "solution"...
take your SD card off, and turn the mobile on, will work.
after that, you can put it in again, and be alert because the time you have to insert your sim pim(sim password)is short(till the mobile finish "search for media" in your sd)
at least for me, it worked
Hi, Please help since today I´m having the same problema. No SIM card is detected by the phone, IMEI says Unknown, baseband Unknown.
HElp PLEASE!!!
First step: Install a stock rom and see if it works, backup everything first.
Second step: If first step does not work, you have an EFS corruption. Plenty of threads on this and how to recover your IMEI. Search will be your friend.

Stock ICS update gave me invalid sim card

I have 2 Galaxy notes that have been stock since day 1 with no modifications other than sim unlock via code. I waited patiently till the official ICS release came out to do my first ever phone update using Kies. After the update, 1 is running perfectly and the other has a notification stating that the sim card is not valid, contact customer care. I swapped sim cards and got the same error. Both Sim cards on other phone working properly.Restarting phone didn't resolve the problem. After a few seconds to minutes from time of reboot (in which phone recognizes network and I can make phone calls normally), the same error occurs sometimes with the code in place of the Service Provider name (63081)? I tried factory reset using phone menu and it wiped it clean but still same error. I tried reinstalling the ICS firmware/rom update provided via KIES and I'm still getting the same error.
I researched this plenty and noticed that others have had similar problems with sony phones after ICS update with no resolution.
Any suggestions?
is rooting possible yet to try another rom?
Can I go back to GB though I don't have a backup?
It sounds like a bad modem flash.
Why not make a nandroid of the good phone and restore it on the bad phone.
Thanks for your reply. I resolved it. Even though I had tried a different sim from the same company for a nother number and it hadn't worked, I still decided to make a new sim for my number and that seemed to resolve the problem. Still odd as to why ICS update would do that.

"Insert SIM card" issue suddenly

Hi guys
I have a big issue with my S3 GT I9300. This morning, everything was running well and suddenly i got the error message "No SIM card, insert a SIM card". I didn't try to flash any ROM, or put any root or something. I was on my desk, the phone was on the table and when i checked it a few minutes later : no network and SIM card error message...
Until now i was on I9300XXUFME3 ROM. I tried to clean the sim card, the sim card slot, push the sim card while the phone was turning on (maybe it wasn't touching correctly the pin), but still getting the same issue. My IMEI is OK, still the original one (no 00 or 0049, etc).
That's why i decided ot flash a orginal ROM and flashed my phone to I9300XXUGMJ9. Flash is OK but still getting the network issue (no sim card inserted)..
I couldn't try my phone with an other SIM as I was alone at the office but i guess the issue comes from the phone as my SIM card is not old at all (i have it for 6 months only) and I don't remove it often from the phone.. Until this morning, my phone (bought it from someone 6 months ago= was working perfectly and I didn't flash it since May 2013, so I don't really understand..
I also tried Ariza's patch (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1918601) but when I press "Apply fix", it starts downloading and stays at 0%.. Nothing seems to be downloading.
Any help would be very greatful guys, thank you.. :crying:
Don't go flash crazy, you'll do more damage with that patch.
Sounds like your sim card reader is faulty, not an expensive item to have repaired.

Hello,
I just went to an Orange store here in Paris and the issue was simply a deffective SIM card.. They replaced it by a new one and got the issue fixed
Thanks a lot guys for your kind help!
Hi guys, i have similar problem, i tried different sim cards, none worked, tried changing the whole card reader with a brand new one, but it didn't fix the problem.
everything started approximately a month ago, or even more, i tried rooting the phone after applying the update but i missed up and almost killed the hone, after allot of effort i managed to bring it back to life and re-installed the firmware update, but the phone started giving me the "Not registered on network" error, and the IMEI changed to that 0049 thing, then it started telling me to insertsim card.
the thing is, before all this happens I had no idea how to important it is to backup, so I have no EFS backup
so, any ideas what could be the cause? and how to fix it?

[Q] Problem with Lenovo A390 / No network + No Sim Detected

Hi,
I bought a Lenovo A390 in January, a few weeks ago the phone started to lose signal on both sim cards, continued that way for a few minutes and returned to normal. After a few hours he lost the signal on both sim cards and didn't returned to normal, even after several hours. When I restarted the phone, it showed no sim card and the sound started to fail a little. Somehow, the cell returned to normal after several reboots.
I tried the factory reset, flashing a new rom, I even open the phone to see if any cable was loose, but the problem continues. I don't know what else to do, searching the internet I saw that several people had similar problems, but the solutions didn't work for me.
I took some screenshots to show the device when it loses signal and after rebooting.
Lenovo A390
Android 4.0.4
Baseband Version A510_MP_PCB_V1.0
Build Number A390_S320_130402
Please! Someone help me! :crying:
Same Problem
I am also facing a similar problem and in addition to that if I reboot with SIMs removed still it shows the old SIMs which were there before the problem happened.
Sometimes this workaround works and if the SIMs are not detected when removed, Next reboot with the SIMs and you can get the network (not all the time). ..
no imei no baseband

I9100 No SIM card/no IMEI/Unknown Baseband

Hi!
So I have this problem with my Samsung Galaxy SII that it doesn't recognize the SIM card for the most of the time. When this problem started, the phone was completely stock (Not rooted/Not a single flashing made by me). Android version was the latest official 4.1.2.
Problem description:
I could be using the phone completely normally and then suddenly it reports that there is no SIM card. Now with pulling out and putting back the SIM card and rebooting couple of times, it might recognize the SIM card again and work for a while (few hours).
What I've tried to fix this:
1. Tried the SIM card on another phone, it worked perfectly.
2. Tried another SIM card on my S2, didn't work any better.
3. I thought that as the warranty is over, I might aswell just root my S2 and install the CyanogenMod 12.1 and check if this fixes the problem (Well it didn't).
4. I saw that my IMEI number shows nothing so I did this: [GUIDE] Recover your IMEI in 9 steps..
Well step 4 didn't bring back the IMEI number but now after rebooting a couple of times when I got my SIM card to be recognized again and then checked the IMEI, it was correct. Though the SIM card wasn't detected after a while again.5. Well now I flashed back the original Android 4.1.2 and checked the IMEI number (SIM not detected), it showed "null/null".
6. I went back to CyanogenMod 12.1 and saw that when it's showing blank IMEI, it's also showing "Baseband version: Unknown.
7. Flashed a new Modem+RIL, not helping either.
8. Tried many other things which I can't remember now but found by googling.
So it's sometimes working and also shows the correct IMEI and baseband and sometimes they are all gone?
My question here is that is there anything I can still try to get it working. And also if anyone knows where the problem could be? Is it some part that is faulty or is it the software that is messing with me? I'm quite handy at taking apart and changing the parts inside if that is the case. It's just that I'm not going to pay over 100€ for a new motherboard to get it fixed.
Thanks for any replies!
During the writing of this message, I took the pictures which I attached to this message.
