Hello I currently tried to install a twrp via the free app on my nephews GS4 he is dying for a custom rom. It worked but when reboot into recovery the phone goes right to download screen with boot error at top left. When I connected to my pc via usb the Verizon software did a auto repair on the phone . So this restored the phone to its original state. So my questions is is the phone now have a locked boot loader or something Loki I think its called. Is there a step by step procedure to reroot , cwm or twrp and rom it ? I been searching but I cant find a post that would cover all of this for VZW GS4. Any help would be much appreciated Thank you.

Sir First of All check ur phone bootloader which can be located in about device in settings. If u have a mdk bootloader u can use loki to install cwm/twrp and install full aosp roms. if this is not ur situation ur bootlaoder isnt mdk so u have to install safestrap to install some custom roms. This might help u..

use towel root to root it and then use odin to flash the recovery. go from there with what you wanna install as concerning custom roms and stuff.
It will root S4's with the firmware (NC5).

What recovery is he going to flash in odin on the nc5 bootloader?
That what I was thinking. Wouldn't he just have to install safestrap from the phone itself?

Hey guys I rooted and unlocked my Verizon Galaxy note. I installed some custom roms using the Touchwiz recovery and everything works except... I cannot make any phone calls or text. It says mobile signal or something like that. Did I do something wrong can any one assist me on this matter? I followed the steps on the form as well as several videos showing me how to do this. another question do i need to root first or unlock first? I've done this process over and over again but cannot get my cell phone to make calls or get data, There is like a hazard sign where the data shows.. please help me!

You should ask in the ROMs thread.
When you unlock, you also gain root.

So if I follow the unlock guide. via ODIN and casual I gain root? I'm a newbie to this lol former Iphone user all of this is new to me. I've tried several roms and still have the same issue. Also followed the guides as well. It's very fustrating because I get no where regarding this matter. Even watching the video's and following the steps have led me to be unsucessful..

1. Flash revision3 via odin following the guide in its thread. (This will give you root)
2.Follow the bootloader unlock process in adam's guide from its thread (this will unlock your bootloader and unless hes changed it flash twrp a custom rocovery.)
Now you need to reboot into recovery and make a back up. To do this you need to go into recovery (twrp or clockwork mod). You can get to recovery by powering off the phone and holding volume-up+home+power. Now go to backup and restore back up. If you have an external sd I would recommend selecting the option to backup to it.
After that select a rom you want. If you want stock rooted you dont have to flash anything. Look in your app drawer if you see an app called supersu or super user you're rooted. If you want another rom follow these steps to flash it.
1. Read rom thread for known bugs so you know what youre getting into.
2. Download rom. DO NOT UNZIP.
3. Check md5 sum.
4. Move to external or internal sd where you can find it.
5. Boot into recovery.
6. Select install.
7 navigate to rom file.
8. Swipe to install. If it has aroma follow instructions if not wait for it to do its thing

To do this wouldve meant you flashed a rom not meant for verizion and got another carriers radios. Also did you check in your settings to make sure you didnt switch data off airplane mode or switch off cdma/lte. Is your phone getting service now that you're back to stock?

Anyone know where I can find the AT&T Factory ROM i forgot to do a backup and need to put this ROM back on the device.
i can not find it.maybe few months later, you can get it here.
Is it weird that there's no RUU? It's been a while since I had an GTC phone so I don't remember how long it took to have one on a new phone.

I feel like it is weird, though the One is the only device I got close to release. My Vivid and Inspire were both purchased a few months after release, and iirc the ATT RUUs were available when I got it, but I guess that doesn't mean they were available at release.

I flashed the odex version and returned it to AT&T. Worked like a charm. Unfortunately no one has posted the stock AT&T recovery but I used the stock international version. You can find that here:
http://android-revolution-hd.blogspot.com/p/android-revolution-hd-mirror-site-var.html
Actually, this leads to a nagging question I have as a first time rooter. I want to use the stock ATT Rom, but root the phone so I can install apps than requre root access and am all about taking back total contole of my device.
SO If I want to keep the stock rom and just root it, I would need to back up the device?
So if someone could throw me a bone How would I gain root access to the device whilst keeping the stock ROM?
I plan on using Hasoon's Tool kit.

flash the stock rom through recovery and then flash superuser.zip in recovery. boom. rooted on stock
If you are completely stock then Once you unlock your bootloader flash twrp recovery. Then boot to recovery. Then reboot from recovery. Twrp is smart enough to recognize you don't have root and prompt you to install superuser and binaries. After that I found a busybox flashable zip via google, as the busybox installer from the market wouldn't work for me. This leaves you on a stock odexed Rom with root. Note that unlocking your bootloader will wipe data..so backup anything important first

If you flash stock recovery successfully and you try to boot to said recovery, you won't have any options to do anything. I never cared to look at it on this device but usually all you'll see is a triangle with an exclamation point. That's stock recovery. If you want to flash anything, you can't use stock

You can't install twrp or cwm on me7 because bootloader is still locked. Can almost call it a soft root if you want.
If you managed to brick your phone.
Please follow the instructions to restore your phone to stock.

NK1 id the newest. Your options are root using the one root method for NK! In the general section of this forum, then use SAFESTRAP recovery from that same thread, then flash a touchwiz ROM from the Dev section of this forum, or if you want Google Edition style, check out KitPop (My ROM).

I'm lost not sure how to get back to stock or even your rom all i can do is odin. If i could get past this process android.process.acore loop.

Hello....i rooted my sm-g360az samsung phone and when i restarted the phone, it didn't boot up to the home screen. It shows the samsung logo and then becomes blank....i later on came to know on the internet that i hadnt enabled 'oem unlock' on 'developer options' before rooting. I sent the phone to samsung for repair and they sent it back to me today saying that the phone is beyond repair because it was rooted, though i hadnt mentioned to them that i had rooted the phone. How do i get my phone to work again? I need it very badly for work purposes. Can somebody help me with this....
