[Q] mediapad x1 | Tablet not completely flat - Huawei MediaPad, T-Mobile SpringBoard

When i put the tablet on flat surface, i can see that this tablet is little curved diagonally. Can others confirm this. If this is common or exclusive to my handset.

No aluminium bending can't bend the glass display, it will break if you try to bend it.
Mine, i never kept in back pocket and don't think it would have bended due to keeping in pocket.

how durable is desire x

Are there any incidents of desires x falling and breaking off. I used xperia mini in past without case till it got stolen and I dropped it many times. Do I need a case on this phone.???
Anybody using it without case.??

Desire X cannot handle too much of drops I had dropped my desire x a bit too badly and now the plastic bezel (which feels strong though) gets bent or damaged over all build is ok but u really need a case as and a screen protector as we don't have gorilla glass too to protect the display
My Dx didn't come with a screen protector and the screens gotten a bit scratched (you could buy a load of them for little price) and i havent really felt the need for a case.
so yeah get a screen protector !!
Fancy cases, screen protectors, youre making your phone soft, it cant handle basic using like this, MAN HIM UP! MAKE HIM TOUGH! PUNCH HIM!
no really, I droped my DX from about meter several times on not so much hard surface and it lives nicely, once I droped it in forrest (geocaching), luckily it felt on back, so there is just a scratch in back made by some rock, which is concerning me as much as lack of lemon ice cream in china. Works perfectly, I have never used any case, protector or anything and I am using same pocket for keys and phone... thats a tough one.

Firstly, I think he meant 1.6m. Secondly I don't think anything would break at 160m. Rubber for example...
This is part of the reason I am looking for a rubber body casing.

My DesireX fell from around 1,20m, the metal around the edges is bent a bit, also it fell on sharp rocks one so the metal around the camera has a little hole

This phone is durable as long you want to keep it...
Over 1-2 years it will be a piece of s..it and on that time you'll see on market 8core cpu with adreno/tegra X with 3D/4D which will make DX a piece of history...
I saw somewhere disscutions that DX doesn't have Gorilla Glass and so on... Come on, will you keep it forever?

[Q] Does Fractured Screen Suitable For Daily Use?

Hello, unfortunately I dropped my s3 at the campus and first there was just dust sized scratch but then it fractured as the picture below. Now my question is, can contunie to use my s3 daily untill it completely broke or does this crack harm my touchscreen or something internal hardware day by day?

My phone also has a cracked screen and it still works perfectly fine. In order to pretect myself from cutting my fingers while swiping over the screen and to keep the 'tension' of the screen I applied some kind of thick reflective foil like this one. It keeps the 'tension', prevents you from cutting your fingers AND you can't easily see the crack anymore.

There should not be a big difference but since I have only tested I can only tell you about the reflective foil. It's kinda like a mirror when your screen is turned off and as you turn the screen on you can see through it. When there is direct sunlight this might become a problem but for me it worked perfectly by now. If you still decide to buy a clear foil be sure to buy a thick one and apply it in a way to get the screen under 'tension'.
Good luck!

Z Ultra first drop

Fallen from my table this morning, straight on the marble, approx 1 meter.
Everything works ok, no screen cracks.
Just a very minor scuff on a top right corner. Just polished a little bit with some tootpaste, now is barely visible.
Will go the hobby store tomorrow to buy some black finish paint, and should back like new
if the screen is ok then of course everything will work fine
if it landed on anyhwere other than the screen(for this phone, also the glass back side), the most youll get is a scratch,,, same for any phone

Au contraire mon frère. Have you seen Android Authority's Z1 drop test on YouTube? The Z1 uses the same DragonTrail glass as the Ultra, and even after three drops or so (on concrete), the glass didn't crack at all, but the screen stopped working.

My z1 have dropped a lot of times and in all direction, screen protector and case mate cover, it's like out of the box! I think is very durable, my SGS2 had a broken plastic with cover applied and used like a baby. Now i've bought z ultra , look well made but is very thin! Someone had problem with dropping even cover applied?
I too, like to live dangerously. Lol. Yea, even the thinnest TPU case makes this thing a little unwieldy. I use a skinomi skin on the front and back. I had the pieces around the edges but they only attracted hair and lint from my pocket and got stuck in the dock so i removed them. The Accidental damage plan from Sony is the only protection i've really got, so until i destroy this one and have it replaced i will likely not be using a case. I also notice i'm much more clumsy with a case than without.
I've bounced mine off concrete 3 times now, the last fall broke the corner on the ridged flip case.

WHY would we need to drop test a mobile phone? This is becoming a social norm to see such 'tests'. I have to ponder who needs to be informed that if they drop such an item the chances are its going to break. If we think about these 'drop tests' they are absolutely absurd!

Agreed. Drop tests are stupid since no drop is the same. It can probably survive a 5 meter drop just fine, but that's just pure luck and nothing else. Drop it again and it'll break.

lol yeah, mine bounced. I'm actually surprised at how sturdy this phone is. I was sure that my screen had cracked but the damage was just a small dent that's barely visible in the right corner.

:( dropped phone worried I've hurt this beautiful beast.

So pis*** off dropped the phone as it doesn't fit in the jacket pocket I'm wearing at the time. Onto god damn concrete. Was about 1m from ground. Landed face down as flip case flipped open. Checked phone over and it looks like there is a mm crack/chip in glass/chip in factory screen protector. Anyone gone through this scary ordeal any advice of how I can check phone is actually cracked? Ahhh oh dear.

I dropped mine out of my pocket twice now, once in a loading-bay the while climbing in to my truck, so both around 1-1.5 m. Still goes fine - the first time was before I got a flip case.
As long as the chip is only in the screen protector you should be ok

Hey, sorry to ressurect this old thread but i wondered if the OP has/had any issues from his z ultra after discovering the small chip to the screen...I Have just saw one advertised for sale with a description of all working perfect, exept having a tiny chip on the screen which is "barely noticeable" if didnt know it was there and that it in no way hinders performance.
By looking at the pics it looks to be on the ASF layer only and i am wondering if the op had any issues with the chip causing any further damage/issues and would a tiny chip likely become a full on crack on screen?
Again sorry to bump an old topic and any resoponse would be grand
I had no problems but sold the phone couple weeks later. Got a oneplus one now. So should be alright just stick a tempered screen protector on it.
Thanks for the quick reply. Yeah i did consider chucking a screen protector on top and from the pics the tiny chip is barely there. My main concern is that it is located near the bottom of the screen, slightly above the bezel and that area is where most of my texting/typing tapping would be done and would hope my clumsy thumbs would not help the chip develop into a cracked screen.
Cheers again
This is much too big to carry in a pocket. I have either a tote or messenger bag that I carry the mobile phone ? in , as well as my Bluetooth headphones . Plus , I wrap the phone in a microfiber cloth ,to keep clean, wipe off prints, and protect my Mobile Phone ? . Usually never leavesy bag until my destination , or when I arrive back home ? . I'm not totally obessessed . I break it out when I am completely bored.

[Q] Any back glass DIY replacement and phone still waterproof?

Dropped z2 yday ;/ it was one of my frenchies who jumped on me, phone fall first on screen, than on back glass and finaly landed in dogs water bowl. took it out right away, screen ok, back glass broken and no visible sign of any water entered.
I want to replace the broken glass deck, but to make it so that phone will still be wateproof.. Anyone have any experiance with that? If so, where did you order back glass and did it come with adhesive coating ..?
Thanks for all answers!

I got mine off of eBay. You need the back glass and new adhesive.
Phone won't be as waterproof anymore, but I've dipped my phone in the sink fora few seconds without harm.

Does this come with adhesive and would you know how if we can retain nfc? I heard changing the back you lose NFC...
Thanks.
It comes with adhesive. But nfc antenna must be unglued from the old back glass. To do that you have to heat up the glass very well so it won't break or torn off.
Heat up the old glass i mean.
hey guys , did anyone succeeded to buy original back glass , and after that phone is again waterproof ? cos some people told me that doesnt matter what back cover i buy even with adhesive , the phone wont be waterproof , only sony can repair it for waterproof again. is that true ?
No man
There are adhesive on the back of glass dont mention about it
You could either buy the plate AND the adhesive thingy (comes separately). Or go my way (slightly risky).
The stock glass plate keeps breaking so I took the measurements and made an Aluminium plate. Then drilled camera holes into it and painted it. Then came the tricky part. I stuck the plate into place using regular epoxy (waterproof) adhesive. You have to be very careful while doing the last part because of obvious reasons tho.
The problem with the adhesive thingy that you get to buy (And also the one that Sony uses in the device) is that although its water proof, it isn't heat resistant. and as we all know how Sony phones heat, the adhesive comes off.

This is very creative and I sure as hell would like to try my hand at it. How thick was the aluminum?
I bet your phone becomes hot as an iron when gaming haha, which is good for your internals because of better heat dissipation. Any adverse effects on mobile reception? wifi? bluetooth? guess NFC is gone haha

What are NFC and Cell reception like since installing the aluminium back plate?
Any deterioration in signal strength / call quality / WiFi / Bluetooth?

Aluminium is a millimetre thick. It does get hot, yeah.
Mobile reception is same (Maybe a tad bit lower, idk), wifi bluetooth work fine. NFC still intact. I fixed it onto the plate in position.

I was planning to post a tutorial. Haven't been able to take out enough time though.

What if I want to use a 2-mm thick acrylic as my black plate? Is it possible? Because I am afraid that it will exceed the metal frame of the phone and it will ended up looking terrible:crying:
I agree, I think 1.0mm would be more suitable.
At 2mm, you might get an M4 Aqua kind of look hahaha

I believe that if the broken glass was the only issue, and you use a original replacement part, or decent adhesive tape to glue them back together, you'll have no problem. I've had the same issue few weeks ago, replaced the screen and the phone didn't experienced any problem when submerged.
Do anyone now where can I get an official or a good quality back glass for my xperia z2, I broke the original one but i don't want to replace with one without any quality.
buy a nice "glue" to fix that..
