Hi to all...
i have the samsung galaxy s2 (GT-I9100) i9100XXMS3
it's upgraded (not by me) to android kitkat 4.4.4 CyanogenMod
CyanogenMod version 11-20140804-snapshot-M9-i9100
Kernel version 3.0.64-CM-g89e6992 build03
i have some problems (programs incompatibilities ect...)
and i want to know how i can downgrade my phone to any stable rom android 4.2.x
or any other custom or stock rom.
after all, i need to rooting the device to be more flexible
can anyone give me some help ??? rookie here...
thanks in advance
The device is already rooted, you just need to download any custom ROM you want, reboot to recovery, and flash your desired ROM from there.

first of all thanks for your answer.
If I understand properly
therefore, I'll have not any problem because of 4.4.4
that is correct ?
Yes, that is correct. The device is already rooted, with custom recovery, which means you can just reboot to recovery, wipe everything, and flash any desired ROM you want.
@@[email protected]........No disrespect intended, but this is "flashing 101" basics stuff........
The fact that you are asking it, tells me that you don't have the experience needed to do this comfortably.....
That's not a problem though.....we all start from the bottom, and learn as we go.....
But that being the case, i'd advise that you don't do anything to your phone until you've read, learnt and completely understood the processes behind the flashing procedure. It's best to understand what you are doing beforehand, rather than trying to figure out what went wrong afterwards.......

i am from galaxy mini forum so get a galaxy s2 but how to know if it is S2 or S2 GT-i9100 o and what the diffirence?? and can you gays pleas link me to a tut aboug instaling costome recovery, which ODIN to use and so on .... last thing which is the best stable rom to use .....thanks in advance
1) Check the sticker on the phone chassis under the battery.
2) Differences between SGS2 variants ? Wikipedia.
3) Just about everything you need to know to get you started is in the Stickies.
4) There's no such thing as the "best stable rom to use". There are a heap of custom roms for the SGS2, it's an individual preference thing. And because no two people use their phone the same way or have it setup the same, and because component-wise no two phones come out of the factory exactly the same, your experience with a particular rom will most likely vary from mine.
The best thing to do is to get your phone rooted, preferably with CWM installed. This will enable you to backup, restore & flash roms/kernels in a matter of minutes. You can than try a bunch of roms for yourself. If you find you don't like a rom you try, it's easy to go back to your previous setup easily by restoring a backup; recommended regularly/before you flash anything to your phone.
ok so by flashing cwm and then a costom rom the divise will root by it self and do i have to flash a stock ics rom to install a costom ics rom??????
Lackchoo,
Flash one of Chainfire's kernels. His instructions are very clear. That will give you root and CWM, and possibly also a yellow triangle at startup which you shouldn't worry about at all.
You don't need to flash a stock ICS ROM to flash a custom ROM. After rooted, in CWM, just install the downloaded ZIP ROM file of the custom ROM. You will keep root and triangle will go away.
Ditto what the above person said about ROM's. However, you can try Cyanogen (Do a 'stable' release, not a 'nightly'), its the most 'popular' ROM in terms of numbers. One can't and shouldn't say which one is best. But for a newbie, I think Cyanogen is a good place to start. Perhaps it will give you the least issues and the most 'oohs!' for your initial newbie effort
I don't have the links with me from the smart phone, but just search 'chainfire kernel root galaxy s2' and 'cyanogen galaxy s2' and you should find the relevant thread. Read it slowly and repeatedly! I know I had to

I have a rooted w/cwm recovery stock 4.04 on my galaxy s2 sph-d710 and I wanted to get the 4.1 cm10 rom on my phone, but I am not sure exactly how to go about it because what I find tells me to first install the GB based cm9 but im worried about going backwards from ics based to gb based roms, as well as potentially getting the factory reset bug. anyone know how I should go about this? thanks

I like people who ask questions before messing around with their device but This is not the right place for you because Your are using Sprint's variant of galaxy SII from your phone details.
You can check your forum here:
forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1281
-You don't need to flash Cm7 (gingerbread) but you might have to first install CM9 (ICS) as base in order to have seamless experience after flashing CM10.
***PLEASE READ THIS IMPORTANT INFORMATION***
- Please do not wipe/factory reset your phone Since you are running stock 4.0.4 ROM on a stock kernel.
-please search for a safe custom kernel in your own section, flash the custom kernel first, before trying to factory reset our wipe your phone.
-You can also open a thread there and ask for help before proceeding to CM10.
-FAILURE to adhere to my advise might lead you to bricking your device. It's better to be safe than sorry!

Dear all,
I know there are multiple threads running for the same, but still i was not able to understand most of the way. Am having SII which is running on Android 4.0.4, I want to root my phone so that i can install Jelly Bean Rom available in the forum.
last i have rooted Galaxy Spica 5700, but it required flashing device with Odin and instillation of a new kernel. But it seems like many new things have came up. Can someone please post me Point by point procedure of rooting my device with ClockworkMod recovery.
Plenty of threads that answer this question in detail. No need for people to duplicate topics or answers.

If you know how to flash kernels via odin its simple. Just download siyah kernel for i9100 , install the drivers required fr odin , flash the kernel in download mode. It will give you rot access and CWM recovery. Then yo can boot into recovery, wipe data/cache and install any rom you want. But do not wipe anything n stock recovery since you are on 4.0.4 (which has the brick bug)
you can also root by stock recovery just by flashing a single .zip file. But if you know the way to do it by odin i suggest the odin mehtod.
and to flash JB....MobileOdin Pro.......so you'll forget about rooting with the EverRoot option........................beware of the wipes with 4.0.4 tho, that crap is nasty.

Flashing the original firmware via Odin does not factory reset the phone (unless specifically stated in the thread containing the files). It just overwrites the bootloader (depending on the firmware and phone), recovery, system, modem, etc.

Hi
How to re install my S2 with Jelly bean . Planning to install Kitkat in my S2 can you help with any good Download and install links. Its good to install ??? please suggest Thank you .. I will check your website
I'm confused on your goal. You want to install Jelly Bean or Kit Kat? There was no official Kit Kat for your phone, so it will have to be something custom like CyanogenMod, SlimKat, etc.
The latest official firmware for your phone would be here: http://samsung-updates.com/device/?id=GT-I9100 - Just make sure to get the one for your region.
Hello everyone,
I've read whatever I could find about the subject, but the fear of bricking my device led me to open up a new thread;
I just want to make sure I didn't miss anything (I cant post on the development thread).
So, I have a galaxy S3 I9300XXUGNA8 4.3, and I want to wipe it clean, root it, and install "resurrection remix" rom.
From what i thought I understand, I can do that by
1. factory reset
2. root it by following: cant post urls. google "Root I9300XXUGNA8 Android 4.3 Jelly Bean Firmware Running on Galaxy S3 GT-I9300- Simple Tutorial"
3. install the rom using the instructions here (cant post urls): (youtube) watch?v=ROoHyHVIzl8
my questions are:
1. In the installation instructions in the main development thread it says: - Make sure you are either on any KitKat ROM (CM11, etc) or on 4.2.2 TW based ROM and NOT on 4.1.2 TW based ROM.
as stated, my JB is 4.3, and it says nothing about it; am I safe to continue, or am I not suppose to install this rom?
2. the video instructions (number 3 above) is meant for note 2; can i apply them to my device and just choose, "galaxy s3 i9300", or should i follow a different set of rules altogether?
3. should I "factory reset" before I start rooting, or can I do that as part of the rom installation (I want to start clean, and have a back up for everything else)?
Thank you for your kind help, energy and time. it is very much appreciated!!

thanks, i have, but...
thanks, i have,
but my question comes from the fact that I see some people had 4.3 and still installed Resurrection Remix successfully.
given that i9300 4.3 is one of the most popular versions of the galaxy s3 out there, i guessed that it should work, but since i couldn't find any official confirmation for it, I would still like a sure-fire answer (meaning, for all I know, the guys who made it work with 4.3 are far more knowledgeable than I am, and probably took further steps than just follow the instructions for 4.2)..
again, I just need confirmation for 4.3, and that is why i was so specific. I searched for hours to the best of my ability.
thanks again

Basically Resurrection Remix is a 4.4 Kitkat rom when you swap between versions ie 4.1 to 4.3 or 4.3 to 4.4 a full wipe is recommended this means format system, data, cache etc not just a factory reset this is what causes alot of trouble for people when flashing.
I recommend PhilZ recovery it as a option to "install a new rom" in settings and wipes the necessary files needed to install a new rom.

Thank you very much!
the reason I asked is because I heard 4.3 ota update has knox, which means trouble...
You're basically saying that if I'm not having problems rooting the 4.3, I shouldn't worry about installing RR 4.4, right?
again, thanks very much for helping! I really appreciate it!

I9300 does not have knox and will never have knox Just make sure you do a full wipe system data etc and also do backups if needed and you will be fine..Also look at the link in my signature before you flash anything backup your efs or you may have big problems later if you don't! This is very important!!:good:
