I've had my Galaxy S3 (stock JB on the Three network) for about a year, but it has recently developed an unusual issue with texts.
When I send texts, they tend to go through fine, but on several occasions, I have not received a text until I call/text the person sending it. As in the message was sent hours ago, but I only get it as soon as I text/call the sender.
I've only noticed this with one person (my girlfriend, who uses an iPhone), but I might just have only noticed with her because I text her most.
I've already turned on the feature that delete old message when the thread hits 100 messages.
Any ideas?

Hello.
My father has a SGS2 and has a problem with receiving messages.
It's so complicated, I don't know how to explain it )
When someone texts him, he receives that SMS multiple times. And if he receives another message, the telephone keeps receiving the first message.
Last night I took a test: I sent him 4 messages, little time one after another. He received 8 messages (all duplicates of the first), but in a very strange way: at a 10 minutes interval (0:07, 0:17, 0:27...).
Does anyone has any idea?
Have you tried his sim in another phone to rule out the phone as the problem?

Yes, I tried his sim in another phone and also my sim in his phone.
But... it looks like the problem was solved!
My father uninstalled this morning all the apps and games he didn't use, and magically he receives the messages ok
I think it was some bug, but I can't relate it to any app, unfortunately.
Hmmm without reinstalling them one by one it would be hard to fine the problem app.

Fustrating issue I know all too well. My skyrocket did it, My Note was fine up until a few hours ago. Called them to get Visual Voicemail activated on my note. The guy had to remove teh family text plan in order to do so, but wasnt able to reapply it. He transfered me to someone who could, but after he fixed it, i started recieving and sending duplicate text.
Nope, but over the last day all of a sudden I am unable to receive some MMSes from people. Sometimes they never show up, sometimes I get an MMS Adaptation error.
probably u have another sms widget open
it was happening on my phone coz i had another sms widget open but when i closed it then it stopped

When our phones did this we went in and got new sim cards. Issue went away

So since about last night I haven't been receiving text messages of any kind. I've been running snowjb since it came out and fixed my apns when I needed to. Now I'm not receiving and my phone is reporting mine send but my friend beside me still hasn't gotten my text. I can make calls and receive calls and use the internet, clearly. Any insight?
Edit: went to at&t and got it fixed. Apparently the system changed my plan.

I seem to be having the same problem. I can receive phone calls, recieve text messages and internet works but I can't send text messages or mms.

For some odd my Mega & my wife's Note 3 all changed the texting number about 5 hours ago. Neither of us could text. I changed the messaging number back & all has been well since.
I'm not sure if this is an issue with mobile network, but my Mega takes a long time to send text. It takes 2-10 sec to send an sms and 20 seconds to send an mms (lte is 15-20 mbps where I live). Sometimes it appears loading icon and takes forever when I send an sms, and the person I send to receive severals copies of that same message. (I've also tried Hangout to send messages. The same thing happened)
Other phones usually send sms instantly and mms in 2-5 seconds.
Youtube and web on 4g seems perfectly fine on my mega though.

Chase661 I would suggest checking your APN settings with your carrier.

Lately I seem to be having an issue with my EVO. It seems that whenever I restart my phone, it sends out ghost text messages to people. The first time this happened, I was having issues getting my pandora to play. So I did a hard rest on the phone and once it came back up, I started receiving a bunch of texts from friends. At first I thought maybe my phone got hijacked or something but came to find out that it was just sending the last txt message I had sent to that individual. Over the next few weeks, this same process would repeat. Once with someone that was in the car with me who could clearly know I didn't just send her a text.
This doesn't send it to everyone. I cannot determine the who/what/why and where, which leads me to why I am here.
I have tried contacting Sprint on a different issue today; for about the same time period I have not been getting notified of new voicemails. If I call into my voicemail, it will sayd I have X new messages, but no notification of such. Sprint said they would restart both my voice and text service. Had me turn off the phone while doing so. Once I brought it back up, low and behold, I started getting texts asking what I meant from folks. So it is still sending these texts. These texts do not show in my sent list.
I am using Go SMS Pro currently but have also tried Handcent in the past and still had the same issue.

Long ago when the OG EVO was just about to reach the EOL It did the same. I was using GO SMS too at the time. I switched to the default messaging app and it never happened.Have you tried using the default messaging app? All go sms does is piggy back off the messaging app. Once you receive a message it goes straight to the default messaging app then go SMS. Try using the default messaging app for a few days and update us if it still happens.
