I love paranoid android. With their 'hover' feature, it makes multitasking so much more easier and leaves all other ROMS in the dust.
Hope this helps!

Thats a tough question.
You probably won't get an answer. Take some time to read, some time to flash and test some candidates.
Start with KitKat derivatives, they should be the fastest.

so far before the L version release. andi hope this year

[Q] Rom with the SHORTEST boot time?

I'm looking for a rom that has the shortest boot time (startup time).
So that I'll be able to switch to Android as fast as possible.
The rom must be lightweight, I won't ever use it, I'll just switch to Android immediately.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks.
I use Miri v17 + nexusleo and from my experience its pretty fast to boot. And I'm getting a good 1600+ quadrant scores.
Sent from my HD2 using XDA App
I'm NOT asking for what are YOU using, or how your Android is running or booting fast.
And miri rom isn't lightweight and it doesn't offer any faster Win.Mobile boot.
Read my question again carefully.
take a chill pill fella. i could be wrong but i think that attitude of yours just nixed your chances of getting any help at all.

Eh I don't think that I said something wrong.
Consider yourself lucky if some one helps you out at all..........
Start thinking.............
I am using ENERGY ROMS and they have a very good startup time. Since i am not dual booting (Since waiting for a stable Android ), i cannot help you further. ( I have tried outother ROMS, but feels NRG ROMS are the ones that will suit your needs w.r.t startup time.).

actually you did. first you say ANY help is appeciated, then when peetuhr tried to help by telling you the experience he had with a certain rom, you snapped at him like a diva. i seriously doubt anyone will help you at all now, not with that attitude. you cant treat people like that on here.
I'm sorry then. I'm decided to try Miri v18.
Thanks for all your replies.

rom suggestion

ok not new to the rom scene just new to the nook. this nook is for my son im looking for some suggestion on stable rom i can use with it and pretty much forget about it. stable is my main goal then functionality multitouch etc. any suggestions would be greatly appreciated thank you
Stable is probably stock/rooted 1.4.0 with your favorite launcher on top.
Then if you want multitouch then cm10 and update firmware for 5-touch must be applied. There are steps to do this running off sd but its probably better to get a second used nt and test it without problems (kids and test roms don't mix) I have my own so I know. Here is the one rom that don't have sleep issue and I currently recommend on a second nt that your kid is not using for 5-touch enable rom. CM10 uses a lot of battery power compare to stock, especially oc roms currently.

I've been using CM10 Pure AOSP ROM, and it works flawlessly on my Nook Tablet 8GB.

I'll second this. This one is excellent, I'm surprised to have found a CM10 ROM that I actually consider to be a 'daily driver' already but this one is it for me.
As per all "which/most stable/best ROM" threads, thread closed. Asking for recommendations on stability is very subjective and you'll get lots of different answers about the same ROM's where one will be rock solid for some while it's completely unstable for others due to the features each individual uses.
Best suggestion is to read the changelogs in the ROM threads to see which options are there that meet your requirements and then flash and try. It'll be a short term pain for a long term gain for you to find the right ROM.
Thanks

myONEdx+ RC3.0 is JB 4.1.2 and has now bugs. fulmix.ROM seems to be a good choice as well. I've heard both are fast.
4.2.2 amd 4.3.x aren't stable for DD from what I've heard.

Awesome, gonna try that one. THANKS! Keep on rockin'!
Moved to Q&A as it is a question. CLosed as it is soliciting for ROM recommendations which is not allowed as a form of ROM comparison.

[Q] How to find a good custom ROM & kernel?

Since it doesn't really appear to be allowed to ask for good ROMs, how can I find a ROM that fits my needs?
I'm basically looking for a list of ROMS that are compatible with my device. By "compatible with my device" I mean that it should support display output through the HDMI and of course support for all the other hardware compunents. My device is a Xperia Neo V btw.
If I remember it correctly I need an ICS or GB ROM.
So is there a nice list that allows a complete noob like me to find out which ROM could be my best or at least a good choice?
Maybe a list with descriptions or feature lists so that I can tell which ROM I like the most.
And of course it would be nice if the list would only contain or mark compatible ROMs.
I'm also looking for a list of compatible kernels.
Thanks for your help.
Best regards,
Ferivon

While searching for roms/kernels, it's best to see in the development section of your forum. In your case, here it is :-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-neo/neo-v-development
Try to use a more recent rom as it is easy to get support for them if anything goes wrong.
Thanks, but the problem with this link and also with this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1316394
is that I have to read the thread of every ROM/kernel to estimate if they fit my needs. :/
And there are soo many, it makes it really difficult for a noob like me. I mean I don't even know the differences between ICS and GB. :/

Sadly yes, that's the only way to choose a rom. Spend sometime reading the threads, see screenshots (Try to keep an eye on the buglist too !)
For your second question about choosing ICS or GB. I won't go much deeper, You just have to keep in mind that a newer android version means better user experience, compatibility with more apps and so on. Hope this helps you
In general, KK>JB>ICS>GB
That's sad, well, thank you anyway.

i agree with you. I just need a rom that would be smooth for a lot of time. Most roms stuck after a month. I am looking for more that 5 months and I am still looking. I try the GB releases, they are quick but the applications crash all the time. Then I try ICS releases I find 3-4 really good releases but everyone of them had a different problem and after a month it was really slow. Now i am trying some KK releases. I try 3 releases. 2 of them was good at the begin. Only the one still works after 2 weeks. It got some bugs but it still works.
I will recommend you some releases to try.
Gingerbread: Gin2KitKat, Spacious GB
Ice Cream Sandwich: Spacions ICS, Superleggera, Ultimate HD
Kit Kit: ParanoidAndroid
This till now... You will find all of them here http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-neo/neo-v-development
Currently using Mike's CM11, before this I'm using Jelly Vanilla EX(that smooth Jellybean 4.2.2) and I settled on that rom for almost half years(nice for me)
And as usual, it's hard to recommend roms because everyone has different needs. If you wish to find a good-enough rom, try it by yourself and feel it
Sent from my MT11i using xda app-developers app
If you want to go for jellybean (4.1.2) then I have been using Super JellyBean on my device since long... Its stable and battery friendly.
Moreover you may try other roms to suit your needs
You may find the thread regarding this on device's development section
Hope this helps

[Q] JB custom rom for KK device?

Hi guys!
First I'd like to say I'm sorry for asking what may seem as a very trivial question, but after searching the web for a few hours without finding an answer, I turn to you.
Simply put, I'm curious to know if it is possible to flash a JB-based rom onto a device delivered with KK.
The reason I'm asking is of course out of general interest, but mostly because I would like to flash Pac rom 4.3 onto my Z2.
I've just installed the KK version (rc3, which seems to run great, btw), but I miss the divided settings (mostly hybrid engine) from 4.3.
I thank you beforehand for taking your time. If the answer requires more typing than you have energy, I would very much appreciate it if you could point me in the right direction. Also, if you would care to give me a tip of an app with similar function to hybrid mode (dpi and...aesthetic settings in general ) that would be great.
You can put anything on any device, all you have to do is modify it or build for that device
Of course the doing part is a huge task.
Try bugging a developer on porting what you want or try learning how your self

Oh is that all I have to do?
I was afraid that was the way I had to go. But porting is really the only way to do it, right?
I just found a Tablet UI for KitKat "ported" from JB on Xposed. I am going read up a bit on it, and try it out.
Seeing how it's not the proper way to do it, I will probably try and build a port.
Thank you for your advice! Much appreciated!

I'm sorry if I came of as ungrateful. That was not my intention at all. I was just being cheeky.
I truly appreciate your help, and I will look into it more. I started a thread about it in Z2 General Q&A (link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...rom-4-3-z2-t2953739/post57057282#post57057282). So far no one has answered, but I'll keep looking.
Thanks again
