gravity box issues - Sony Xperia Z Ultra

One week with ZU and loving it. The stock Rom is fine for me but I want to use gravity box for my favorite tweaks. Mostly it works fine but does anyone know how to fix the following?
1. Quick settings seems immune to any tweaks at all. I really want the smart pull down.
2. Battery mods don't survive a reboot... the stock battery icon returns, but just the outline.
Many thanks.

Looks good, I will try it. Should I remove Gravity Box? I suspect so.

Actually, it doesn't do what I wanted - no smart pulldown or status bar tweaks. Never mind.

Some of it works well, the power off menu and lock screen stuff for example. I thought the whole point of gravity box is to bring features from CM etc into stock roms.

yeah I noticed but its limited.. no no the purpose is to bring features to roms where you can not find the provided features in the Gravitybox module to turn on or off in the settings app in the rom without typing the strings in a terminal or setup manual scripts to set on boot. Who would wanna do that everytime..
Its an app module that provides a simple user friendly UI to change strings on or off and even modify the values. For example, change the height of the navigation bar. Or remap the short push and long push action of the soft keys in the navigation bar in a few simple steps.

Oh I see, so features that were added by Rom devs simply don't have the underlying code to be addressed. Makes perfect sense, though it's a shame the stock battery outline keeps reappearing, it goes away when I toggle in GB but returns on reboot.
I can see me investigating custom roms sooner than I thought.

100% full screen tablet mode ?

does anyone know of a way to run the note in tablet mode in ICS 4.0.4 so all my apps display in 100% full screen?
Not sure if there's a way to do it in system. I know for sure you can do it with most home screen replacements-launchers.

oh, like which?
I use APex launcher and it has an option to hide the status bar. Nova has it too.
Iam currently using sslauncher.

Apex settings.
Cosmo D from outer space!
I came to rock the human race!
You have to freeze it. The only free option I have ever seen is an app called "AntTek App Manager". Now when you freeze the statusbar it will keep popping up a FC but to fix this freeze the status bar and after it disappears defrost it and it should still stay hidden til you reboot.
Another vote fo using Apex launcher -- it has the option to autohide the status bar in phone mode (dpi of 214,or higher) .
Now, Tablet Mode (dpi of 213, or lower) is a different story. For that, you'll have to get with the ROM developer to implement a hide button. (Hybrid ROM has this).
I guess what I really want is to run the note in tablet mode so it is 100% full screen (I dont need that black bar at the top of the screen that displays the clock, battery life, cell reception/bars, etc)

Which ROM?
OnlyOne ICS ROM Beta 4*HYFR*for AT&T*Galaxy Note*...
Hopefully there is a mod like this that could preserve the quickpanel
You should go with CM9, AOKP, or The Hybrid if you're looking for a functional tablet mode. OnlyOne isn't gonna cut it...
Will any of those preserve the quickpanel and are those ICS?

Yes, they're all ICS, and I *think* the 15toggle mod works on Hybrid...maybe. I'm not sure whether or not there is a version of it for the others.
Warning: you will lose S-pen functionality with CM9 and AOKP, but not Hybrid.
I suggest you go read as much of the Hybrid's thread as possible. It's slightly more complex than what you may be used to.
Good luck!

Does SSlauncher work in tablet mode? I've toyed with it a little before on my evo, but haven't tried it on the note yet.
Yes Sir, it sure does.
aokp has a setting for this i used it all the time on our rom,
paranoid has it aswell as im using it on that one aswell.
just search settings when you use roms you find all sorts of things not mentioned

And which rom are you using it with?
Running Hyfr B4 only one with 15 toggle mod. a couple screen shots- I'm in a poor signal area, they may not post.
here is tablet ui set in paranoid with navbar hidden *works in phone ui aswell, and any dpi launcher setting.*

Tablet UI

Just for kicks (and because the half phone/half tablet ui really bugs me, takes up too much space with bars on both the top and bottom of the screen), I went ahead and built a 'stock' JB 4.2 AOSP rom for the N10 with the tablet UI enabled (thanks to the N7 thread on XDA for the modification details!). (Check out the attached image!)
It seems to work well, and it's a very simple mod (though I've hardcoded it to test it out) Would be nice if some of the future custom roms could come with an option to choose the UI at some point!
Here's the link to modifying the source to enable the tablet UI for any of the dev's out there interested:

Awesome.
Awesome. I can't wait to get mine (ordered yesterday).
Can the navigation buttons be flipped?
Does editing the LCD density in /system/build.prop not work for 4.2?
Can't you go back to full tablet UI with the app drawer button at the top? The empty hot keys navigation area looks strange. Also, you mentioned custom roms making it an option...doesn't Paranoid Android already do that?

Didn't try. I'm not a fan of that since it breaks other apps, this doesn't chance the density, so at least everything that would run stock should still run.

The launcher doesn't appear to have the app drawer by default (at the top of the screen), but if I install something like NOVA launcher, you get what you're looking for.
Paranoid does apparently have options to choose the ui mode, but I haven't seen that ROM for the n10 yet. Got a link to it???

Yeah, simple changes to the order of buttons in the navigation_bar.xml file would change the order of those buttons.
As I mentioned, I'm just messing around with the AOSP code, and hope a 'real' rom will come out with the option to switch to tablet mode!

I don't think it's out for the N10 yet. Coming soon from what I read. I was just point out that the ability does exist in roms, it just needs to make it to the N10.

Try xposed framework and use the gravity box module should be able to tweak the navigation bar how you want.
Sent from my VS980 4G using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Why don't you want to use gmd?
There's an app called "GMD auto hide soft keys" that hides the bottom software buttons. You then either tap or swipe the bottom of the phone and the buttons appear. You don't use gestures to navigate... You tap on the software keys once they appear. Then when you are done the software buttons dissappear completely.
Or where you looking for fully transparent software buttons that are always showing?

Xposed Framework has a G2 Module on Play Store that lets you assign the percentage of Navbar you want visible. I'm running at 20% on mine and its super small but very usable.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but I believe G2 Xposed is only for stock and stock-based ROMs. The OP is running CM and would probably have a lot more luck with something made for AOSP-based ROMs. I would suggest Gravity Box, it has these functions plus a ton of other tweaks that you can use as you please.

You can download a build.prop editor and add:
qemu.hw.mainkeys=1

[MOD][XPOSED] Battery Percentage Text

This module for Android Lollipop/Marshmallow (5.x.x/6.x.x) adds the current battery percentage to the lock screen, notification shade header, and status bar. The app includes options for enabling or disabling the injected text, changing the position of the text relative to the battery icon, and changing the appearance of the text.
Note that this has not been tested on Nougat (7.x.x). As of Oreo (8.x.x), this module is no longer needed, as the battery percentage text is now properly shown alongside the battery icon when enabled in the System UI Tuner.

thanks for this module. it is possible to add an option so we can see the battery percentage text on the right side of the battery icon?
Not working on CM 12.1. I'd be happy to test out any test releases to get this working. This is something I miss from KitKat.
Thank you so much man @Extrinsic. It has puzzled me to no ends why there was no decent module for this very specific purpose. This is such neat & useful module. Cheers ??

Just get an app which tells you the percentage. There are so many. I think "battery doctor" does that, and you could really easily do something like that with tasker.

Nexus 5 stock 6.0.1 work OK
it seems that font size is smaller at status bar than at lock screen, don't it?
This absolutely genius module no longer works on most ROMs it used to. Probably due to framework changes in AOSP.
Can you kindly update it to work with current AOSP ROMs?
Plus, it never worked on any CM-based ROMs due to their customization.
Thank you so much.
New version (v1.1):
- Added support for unexpanded notification shade header
- Added options for customizing positions and font sizes
- Allowed injected text to receive alpha channel and color changes made to status bar elements
- Fixed compatibility issues with some AOSP and CyanogenMod-based ROMs

I've tested it so far on the 5.1.1 and 6.0.1 Google stock ROMs, CyanogenMod 13 (6.0.1), and Pure Nexus (6.0.1). Hopefully, it should work with most near-stock ROMs now.
This is an amazing module, I am loving it, thank you for doing it. It works great with the latest update in my Moto G 3rd Generation (2015) with stock Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It would be nice to have an option to hide the app from the launcher, as many modules have, and It would be nice to have more text sizes, or a configurable text size bar. Anyway, it is awesome, keep the good work!

changing the height of navigation bar on stock?

@Moriatier, you're back! After starting the world-famous V30 Frankenstein thread you just sort of disappeared!
I wrote up the instructions (later in the thread) but you were the one who really started the discussion.
You can use Substratum and even though it's made for Samsung devices, you can use the samsung system mods theme to change the nav bar height. I use it to set mine to zero so I can use gestures instead. But they have other height options in it. Probably best not to mess with any of the other parts in there though since it IS for Samsung devices. Although I got "more animation scales" in settings working too.

I believe you can use substratum without root in Oreo. It's been a while but I think I was using it before rooting. It uses a systemless method. Substratum has a fail safe in it where If it detects a problem like system ui keeps force closing so many times, it will disable the overlays and set it back to normal. So there isn't too much of a risk. I got myself in some situations where I couldn't do anything and just got a bunch of force closes but Substratum took care of it. Never had an issue with the Navbar overlay though. If you ever want the navbar back, you just go into Substratum and disable the overlay and reboot.
I'm rooted but the reason I didn't use OnePlus Gestures built in nav bar hide is because it had some minor annoyances. Like when I would unlock my device, the navbar would show for a split second then disappear. So I just felt, for me, it was better to use substratum and get rid of it all together. Although, with this method, you can actually toggle it off and on real quick.
