My G3 is at 45% and it says it's gonna take over 7hrs for it to fully charge.
Before anyone ask, yes..i am using the OEM charger and cable that cane with the phone.
I'm on my second G3 and really don't feel like exchanging this one for another one...

Are you using your phone while it's charging? Is it at a high brightness?
When my G3 is charging and I'm using it (redditing, XDA, Clash of Clans, etc.), my charge time is pretty insane as well.

THIS plus if your outlet is weak or not getting enough power it will take forever. I had a surge protector and mine was plugged into the last slot and was taking forever to charge until I checked it with a meter and found the last slot was weak and under powered. Tossed the whole thing out and have had no issues at all.

Yeah i was using it checking email and forums, but still didnt think it would take this long to charge. And in reality it didn't. I mean it took a little long but nowhere near 7hrs to charge. Maybe like 1 1/2 - 2 1/2 hrs to charge...and thats with me using it. So i guess that would be normal in all actuality. The time estimate that the phone displays is just off its mark.

Hmm...this also interesting because i do have the charger plugged into a power strip. When i charge it today, i will plug it directly into a wall socket and see if that makes a difference as well.

Just wondering what the spread is on people that were patient enough to wait for that green LED light before powering on your device as HTC's support site recommends.
I didnt. lol
I was playing with the thing until it almost died, then plugged it in and kept playing.
Couldnt help myself.
I just got mine and it's been charging for about 40 minutes. I'm DYING to turn it on!!
I wasn't. I don't have any issues with the led not turning green either. I ran it to shutdown day one and all seems well as far as battery. In fact, I'm impressed with the battery life which has gotten better over the past few days.

If i had that kind of restraint I wouldn't have stayed up late to order the phone
My guess is that "No, I powered it on immediately." is going to take it.
It's been on since day one, save a few restarts.

This is exactly what I did, lol.
I didn't. I got 2 days on a single charge with heavy usage. I'm happy.
nope, got it and started using it for phone calls for about an hour till i got home then plugged it in and got all my apps downloaded and everything else set the way i wanted it.
Yep, came home Friday and got it off my doorstep to plug in. Got home 4 hours later to a full battery and enjoyed.
What is recommended for the battery? Should you start it when you first get it and drain the initial charge then charge it? Or fully charge it before using it?

Thank you, I just remember back in the day the instructions always said to fully charge before use
Did you have to calibrate the battery like you did on the Evo?
I just got through the day.. I mean usually I get about 9 hours but yesterday I got this.

That doesn't count. It showed that you charged half way through. Post a pic without charging in the middle of the day.
What's wrong with the other thread regarding battery life?

It is true that I charged mid way through the day but that was only to transfer files from my SD to my computer, after that it was back off for the rest of the day. Still pretty nice, I looked at my battery usage and I freaked.
Yeah, I don't know what people's problems are either...I am in a perpetually low-to-very-low signal area 95% of my time and I still can hit 24 hours with moderate use almost every day if I have to.
...luckily I don't have to. I have 2 micro usb chargers on my night stand (one for nook color, one for phone), another at my computer down stairs, another in my truck and another 2 on my desk at work (one USB on wall charger)...but if I need to I can.
Given harsh circumstances I bet I could hit 2 days...I did on my OG evo easily(granted underclocked with a UV kernel and power-save governer) by toggling 3G off when not in use (that's a big one) and obviously all other radios (no 4g ever, bluetooth off, wifi off unless I have a network handy), dim the screen.
I think people just have 'ucked up expectations...this battery is effing huge.
The battery life is pretty great on this phone I won't lie. I can play music all night and go the next day without a charge.

At 5% or lower, the screen is forced to go dim and I loose the ability to set brightness. Both in settings and by pulling down notif. bar. Is there any way to turn off this force-to-go-dim?

Forced dim for battery level below 5% is normal. If it automatically dims when it is over 5% battery then that's a bug. I never experienced the dim bug.
You really shouldn't let your battery get that low anyway, lithium batteries don't like being discharged that much.

Sometimes I can't help it but I'm using third party battery so I'm not too bothered. I got them for less than £5 for 3500 mah, been using them since I got my Mega (over 5 weeks now) and never had problems.
The advice I gave is valid but with batteries so cheap these days I'm not sure it matters any more.
Do you find your 3500mAh batteries actually last longer or about the same?

Can't tell as I've never used the battery that came in the box. I'm keeping all accessories pristine for selling it on. Anyway, I get over 24 hours for light use and 10 hours with heavy use on the third party battery.
Cheers, that sounds much the same as I'm getting.

I can see the caution of using lithum battery. But at the times when I am out of immediate reach of a charger and a replacement battery, and I need an extra minute to finish an email or text, it becomes counter productive.

Does anyone know if these numbers are correct? They look really low to me. After coming from the nexus 6 and it's quick charge capability. I've noticed this is taking waaaay longer. Where are these numbers supposed to be? Of course this is with the lg V10 quick charger that came with it.
I'm grateful for any assistance anyone has. Thank you

I'm pretty sure quick charge variates the closer you get to 100%.
Its odd...I feel the same way and I came from nexus 6 lol
Hell, I feel plugging it to my laptop is faster...might just be my charger.
Ditto -- seems very slow.
280 seems crazy low. 740 isn't too bad although it's much lower than the charger can output. Mine isn't much higher now, either...
940. For some reason the screenshot won't attach.

Mine charges insanely fast 14% to full in just over an hour last night. My proximity sensor on the other hand is driving me freaking batty. (off topic sorry).
I got my LG V10 yesterday and it ran very warm and would not charge quickly at all, even with the fast charger and screen very dimmed. It was actually losing charge even when connected to a decent charging source, and barely held its ground with the LG fast charger. I poked around and one thing consistently was reported that I had not checked - LG's email app and Exchange privileges as a big source of battery drain. I use the Gmail app, so I had not even put my email address into the LG Email app (and I don't use Exchange). On a lark, I put my Gmail address into the LG email app. It was like night and day. Once the LG app had downloaded the emails, everything cooled way down and charge rate went way up. My battery app showed that the temp of the battery fell from the low 40's down to 35 - 36 C, so I'm guessing the CPU activity had also fallen off dramatically. The battery app also showed charging current going from 100 to up over 900 to 1100. I was also able to consistently raise my screen brightness back up quite a bit.

It is possible to corrupt the motherboard?
Or it's just from the battery?
Means charge more before turning on
Press and hold the Volume Down button and the Power button with phone connected to charger. If it doesnt work try to connect it to PC, and try power it up with holding volume down button. When it turns on (booted in safe mode!) don't tuch anything just leave it for 5-10 minutes so battery charges to a couple of %.
It is probably bad battery. If you have charger supporting Quick charge 3 it shouldn't be a problem to start charging.
i had same problem i charged with turbo charger(motorola) and now its working
I just left my G5 charging for most of the day, using the POS turbo charger that came in the box, came back to a phone showing exactly the same as your photo.
Then I tried charging with my LG G3 (non-turbo) charger. Took about 3 and half hours but charged fine.
Last time I tried to charge my G5 using the turbo charger, it worked fine. And then randomly, it doesn't work at all. But the turbo charger allows works fine when charging my spare battery in its little LG charging case.
I hate this phone. G5 sucks. Worst phone I have ever owned.
This can happen on a variety of phones if the battery voltage gets low enough. The internal charging controller won't initiate charging because the voltageis below a certain
threshold. When it has happened to me I've connected the battery directly to a power source with voltage somewhere around 4 to 9 volts. It only need a brief boost, the higher
volt source needs shorter time obviously. For ~9v only probably need few seconds. I guess you could use 12v as well, but keep it short.
Then put back and try charging.
