It been few weeks now my phone get random reboots. Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a patern to identify the cause of the issue it seems completely random
The phone freezes for 3-5 then reboots
is there any app that can help my monitor and identify the issue?

are you in stock/custom rom?
maybe because you have a dirty flash when you instal a new rom, it based on my experience
Maybe a logcat will help
GT-I9300
OmniROM 4.4.4
Boeffla Kernel 2.4NG Beta4
GravityBox + XGELS
XDA Free App
Imm on stock 4.2.1 rooted a year ago... Random Rebooting started few weeks ago
For log cat It has to be plugged into the pc until next reboot right? Proble is it only occur 1 or 2 times a day sometimes not every day

Just did a data reset but issue still there , any ideas??

There isn't a stock 4.2. Flash the latest 4.3 firmware then factory reset, test for a few days before you install/restore anything. If still the same then you probably have bad nand blocks.

4.3 sucks! i am using it since a year..
how about 4.4.4 liquidsmooth?
I was having this same probelm after not resetting my phone for a long time. I have been on cm10/11 nightlies since they came out. finally got tired of the reboots and ended up wiping the phone, clearing caches, installed new gapps package for 4.4.x and new cm11 nightly no more random reboots.
Reflash the ROM!
Why dont u opt for 4.3 or 4.4.2?
they are great!

Hi. My SG2 boots at least twice a day automatically.. No matter if I'm using it or if the screen is off.

Auto boot or it reboots as one is auto set to reboot and the other is not .
No indication of firmware so lets just guess and say back up data and factory reset .

I just changed rom but it happened with previous rom I used as well. I'm using resurrection remix ICS v1.8 by westcrip 4.0.4 with a kernel cm9 for this rom... I may think this is about an option in rom settings used for ram minfree taskkiller but not sure... Anyway thx for supporting this!

Have you done a full wipe when you changed your rom?
I would suggest doing a fresh install and a full wipe and try to use your phone without installing any apps or changing any settings for a day or two. If it still reboots, it is most likely a hardware issue.
I will try that and will reply back how it goes.
Thank you!

AS one above said
1st wipe full then evaluate the room & it is problem

if factory reset won't fix it, then try flashing a stock firmware from sammobile.com, but you have to have an account there first to be able to download. after the download, you can flash the firmware via odin.
I hope this helps cheers!

Had the same issue on the wife's phone.
Wiped delvic cache, formatted system folder, reinstalled omega v27, worked like a charm.
No issues since.
However I did bump her phone up to v27.1 since then, still no issues though

I haven't tried a factory reset yet as I am sure that will fix it but I was looking for a solution without doing that.. I have frozen few system apps that could be a reason.. Anyways since I am on v27,I will update to v27.1 via full wipe.. But still I would like to know what caused that.. Thanks for your replies..

If you want a better solution, then try posting thos in the omega thread. That might help.

I think its not rom's problem so i didnt post there, its something i must have done.. Anyways I flashed v27.1 and everything is fine now..

Hello community. I have a problem with the pac man rom for my Samsung galaxy s2 (i9100).
Always when the screen turns off, a soft reboot happens. Updating to the newest nightly didn't help. So, is that a known issue or am I the only person, who recognized that?
It's pretty annoying, so I hope you can help me. I Googled a lot but couldn't find anything about that. So please don't flame me.....
Thank you

Is this only in nightlies?Have you tried the stable version? What kernel are you using?
26/6/2013 with dori 9.32 ok here.
No. Not only in nightlies. I first had a stable version, but somebody recommended me to try a nightly. As you see... Same problem. I didn't change the kernel when I came from cyanogenmod. I tried the dorimanx 9.13 with the stable version but it was even worse. Instead of a soft reboot, the screen stayed black and I couldn't do anything.
I can try dorimanx with the nightly but I don't think that that would solve the problem.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Ok, I tried nightly 29.06. with dori 9.33. Same problem. It's strange. Obviously nobody has the problem too.

1) go for a full wipe install.
2)stay on the stock kernel that comes with the rom for a while and see if u have any soft reboot issue.
Oh yes, I tried that in this moment, but with dorimanx and no soft reboot (woohoo). So the reason must hide anywhere in my user data. How can I find out where?
Thank you

its very diff to pin point exactly where the issue is ( may be some left over data of previous rom/kernel/mod/theme might be causing it
but the best solution during it is a Full wipe install
so for now u have a wrk'ng phone without any issue of soft reboots, so enjoy it
cheers!!!!
Ok I can explain it again.
I had cyanogenmod and thought it was cool to use these hybrid options. So I decided to flash pac man rom 23.0.0. I followed the installing instructions in the xda thread of the rom (including wipe data and cache and dalvik cache). After that I played a bit in the options and restored all my apps via titanium backup. But then I experience my first soft reboots. I didn't know why, couldn't find solutions in the Internet. So I tried another kernel: dorimanx. Now I still had soft reboots but without the bootanimation (only black screen).
Then the xda member bluefa1con said I should flash the newest nightly. I did but I still had the soft reboots. Today I wiped everything, flashed the pac man rom again and had no soft reboots (for at least one hour). Ok that's everything.
I don't want an empty phone without my data. I want to keep my apps. So is there a way to find out what's the reason for the soft boots except wiping and restoring app for app and waiting until I have soft reboots again? Maybe only root apps can cause this....
Thank you.

Hi guys
I tried some roms some days ago, thereunder paranoid android 3.99 and well, I liked it. The only problem i was facing that it was extremely laggy for example when i was scrolling the homescreen or the drawer.
When reading user opinions however i didn't saw anything about that and now I'm wondering if I'm doing something wrong?

Did you format on install or just factory reset? Do a full format and then flash the rom and test.

I always wipe everything what can be wiped in cwm when installing a new rom

By the way if someone is facing the same problem: it just took some time to boot everything. After 10 minutes the rom was working fluently if the problem still persists try to use "pure performances" here on xda.

I got the S3 with Revoulution HD S5 (smartdroid) ROM with boeffla kernel.
Lately ive been getting random freezes just in the middle of doing nothing with my phone, it just freezes and then goes to reboot, while its trying to reboot it bootloops. With that i mean its trying to reboot then screen goes black and then it tries to reboot again.. Then i have to pull the battery out and insert it again and it works (for some time.)
So my question is how can i fix this and what is the problem? Ive read some posts saying that it could be the firmware? Well i have read alot of other posts but never really find any good soulution so please HELP!

both. The phone is working from time to time... Its just the freezes/reboots that are creeping me out..
Flash the latest official stock rom with odin, factory reset then test before you install or restore anything.

Yeah, found it. Going completely stock now, without root also. Just going to try out the stock a while and see if it works. Then preferbly root and flash a custom rom again! Thanks.

i unrooted/went back to stock, then i rooted and flashed a new rom. Everything without a problem. I have only got 1 random reboot so far.. more suggestions??
If it still freezes and reboots on stock then you have bad memory blocks in your nand memory.

Change your Kernel. I am using Revolution S5 without any issue. Better install LiteGX kernel. Do not play with Kernel if your knowledge is less. LiteGX is just a plug & play Kernel.
I got the same issue.
I´m on it. I will try latest official. You should check if your emmc chip is possible broken. Just load the app emmc check and google about "SDS S3"
I´ll post a solution if i can get it solved.
Greetings Dumbass
