Hi gusy, yesterday i received my vodafone Z2, 6503, DE. I succeeded in taking an backup of that TA partitions, unlocked my bootloader and had root afterwards on firmware .323.
In Detail:
->stock D6503_17.1.2.A.0.323_Vodafone DE
->root by Easy Root Kit
->TA Backup
->unlocked bootloader
->TA Recovery
->Installed Z2-lockeddualrecovery2.7.XXX-BETA.installer.zip from here :
So far so good. Stock rom with root (checked with root checker) and able to enter the recovery using quickboot
-> copied newest CM11 nightly + gapps
-> entered TWRP Recovery
-> Factory Reset (ink wipe)
-> flashed CM11
and now... not even a SONY Logo, only vibrating. Ideas? Thanks a lot!
Edit: I was able to restore the 323 FW with the flashtool and stock image. The question is... how to get CM11 now without bricking the device

You can use flashtool, but you needed before a ftf rom.
Find a guide how to flash a rom with flashtool

Recovering yout TA locks your bootloader again... and you can't use CM11 on locked bl keep your BL unlocked for CM, restore TA only if you need to go to stock or send phone to warranty.

Now i would like to install a custom recovery and after reading all the treads concerning recovery i'm lost : is there any recovery woking atm for a 4.2 rom on locked bootloader for a SGP312 ?

Maybe someone will correct me on this, but I thought recovery required a non-stock kernel, and insralling a non-stock kernel requires the boot loader to be unlocked. So, you can't have recovery on a locked bootloader with stock ROM.

Nope, if you want a custom recovery you'll need to unlock your bootloader. In case you wan't to keep your DRM keys nad relock bootloader afterwards, backup you TA partition, unlock your boot loader, flash 4.2.2 kernel with custom recovery ('https://mega.co.nz/#!vV8QHKaI!Zpxtii1zictYur7sVOVRVVk0lR8tdIDOSmaDQkL8QDk'), flash root from recovery and finally reflash your TA partition which also relocks your bootloader.
Hi!
Somebody in a different forum suggested that it might be possible to root the latest firmware (23.0.1.A.0.167) by downgrading the kernel (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56590546&postcount=1224).
Can anybody confirm this method to work?
I purchased my Z2 tablet yesterday and was foolish enough to believe that I can upgrade to the latest firmware and still root my device (with a locked bootloader).
Greetings

It doesn't work. You end up to bootloop. However you can flash prerooted firmware in custom recovery and have fully rooted device.

In order to do so I have to unlock my bootloader and with that I'm going to lose my drm keys, right?

No. If you easy root and install the dual recovery beforehand you flash from that.
But easy root doesn't seem to work with the latest firmware, they closed the vulnerability that easy root is using

Easy Root Tool works just fine with .314 firmware. So if you are now on latest .167 firmware, downgrade to .314, root it, install custom recovery and flash prerooted flashable.zip in custom recovery. Done.

Ah, I didn't know it's possible to downgrade the firmware
So I need the firmware flash tool and a ftf file of the 167 firmware, right?
And it can be done without root and a locked bootloader?
Sorry for all the newbie questions, I'm coming from HTC devices and it's a little different there

You need:
- latest Flashtool with drivers installed correctly for your device
- some working custom recovery
- Easy root tool
- ftf file you need is 314 firmware of you device where you have to downgrade to easily root it
- prerooted zip file included you device 167 firmware, SuperSu install files and latest dualrecovery install files.
You don´t need unlocked bootloader for this. Point of downgrading is to achieve root easily that you can have root with 167 firmware? Or do you mean that can you achieve root on 314 firmware without having it before? If so, yes you can with Easy root tool.

thanks for your efforts!
in the meantime I managed to downgrade the firmware to 314, successfully root and backup TA
I installed superSU from the play store and it is telling me that I need to update the binaries and I can choose between "normal" (which doesn't work) or through "twrp/cwm"
I didn't install any custom recovery yet, so I'm not sure how to move on from now
should I install dual recovery (from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785598), after flash the latest supersu from recovery and finally flash prerooted zip file?
do I need custom recovery to flash the prerooted 167 firmware?
or should I just run the OTA to get 167 firmware (will the device still be rooted after the update)?
please advice

Good to here you achievment. If you can´t update SuperSu binaries by "normal" way easiest might be to flash SuperSu latest update from custom recovery. I recommend dual recovery from your link and when installed use TWRP.
So install dualrecovery, flash latest SuperSu and then prerooted zip. If you end up without write permissions to system here might be solution for that.

There is a way
Use PRF creator to create a pre-rooted zip of your chosen update
Make sure to install recovery for LB and also to add it to your PRF zip
Flash it and enjoy your new update.
Something gone wrong.
I downloaded Sony PC Companion to get the update files.
Then I created FTF following this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/development/noobs-guide-create-stock-firmware-ftf-t2188129
I choosed to include all: Kernel, FOTAKernel, Modem and LTALabel
At Step 3 I selected
Device: Sony Xperia Z2 D6503
Version: 23.4.A.0.546
Branding: Unbranded
Then I created a PRF
http://forum.xda-developers.com/crossdevice-dev/sony/tool-prfcreator-easily-create-pre-t2859904
I used:
New created FTF
philz_touch_6.41.6-sirius-v01-FW_402-DooMLoRD.zip
UPDATE-SuperSU-v2.46.zip
Then I put flashable-prerooted.zip to external SD, rebooted to philz Touch and installed ZIP from SD. Recovery finished without error, so I rebooted my device.
But after reboot it still show Android 5.02 under Settings -> About device, root seems to work, but busybox doesn't work anymore and worst of all, I don't have recovery anymore.
Any idea, what happend?

Damn. I didn't look at this while converting to ftf, thought pc companion will always load the latest regardless of provider when choosing the repair option.
Ok that was my fault. But why did this break my busybox and recovery?
I got it fixed with Z2-lockeddualrecovery2.8.15-RELEASE.installer, which also flashed busybox.
Hi, I am a newbie here, I have a problem with flashing the rom (zip file) in the recovery that is my phone will crash (restart instead). And I have my phone locked bootloader here is what I have done to my phone
1) using flashtool to downgrade to a rootable rom ( 23.1.A.1.28 )
2) after flashing I use kingroot to root, after that install busybox and last install xzrecovery.
3) after I reboot my phone to twrp recovery and wipe data to perform a rom install (twrp version v2.8.6.0 )
But when I install the rom my phone restart and I stuck and the Sony logo boot screen.
How do I solve this problem.
Thanks

I m not sure about that **** of kingroot.
Downgrade firmware to. 314 kit kat and than root and install recovery and finall y try to flash rom.
For locked BL you must flash stock based custom roms.

Thanks, so I must unlock BL to get a custom rom ?? Is that right ??
So, I think I finally did it. I broke my phone.
I wanted to flash the new Existenz Rom 6.0 and the flashing worked fine. The phone started and it got stuck in the Xperia logo. I than downloaded the Bootloop Fix. To make sure nothing goes wrong I wanted to do another factory reset. Somehow, my phone uses two roms (Philz custom recovery or something like that (I flashed the rom with this) and a TWRP Recovery). My phone booted into the TWRP (which it usually doesn't do) Recovery and I thought "Well, I can do a factory reset here". So I did the advanced reset but after restarting I can't access anything! When I turn it on, there is still the Sony Logo but if I press up and down I can't access none of the custom recoverys. I'm truly desperate and I can't afford a new phone. Can someone help me how to fix this?
@DerDokktor
XZDR and similar recoveries for locked bootloader reside in /system partition , when you wiped your system you also wiped the recovery...
You'll need to flash an .ftf firmware with flashtool to recover your phone. If you want root and a locked bootloader flash a KK or LP ftf (as MM is not rootable yet), then root it with kingroot or something else you like, install XZDR from your computer and then you can go to the recovery again and flash existenz rom or any prerooted rom you want.
You could also flash a MM .ftf directly but then you won't be able to root it without unlocking your BL.
If you need help with flashtool follow this guide:
http://www.xperiablog.net/2015/03/1...peria-lollipop-using-xperifirm-and-flashtool/
Edit: the first steps of this guide are to create your own .ftf , if you already have an .ftf downloaded you can go straight to the "Now that the FTF firmware file has been created, you need to flash your Sony Xperia device." section of the guide.
