I can't say it'll be easy without a computer but if you use Mobile-Odin and flash this. It'll install SuperSU and ClockWorkMod but I'd recommend holding off until you have a computer (its just easier on a computer)
Also, you won't magically achieve 3g speeds on your phone if you root it.. You may want to research into that a bit more before you take this plunge unnecessarily.
Ok ill wait. I had a s2 that I rooted. Do u know how I can get 3g speeds. I have researched this and havnt found ne thing

Your phone supports 3g right out of the box.. Maybe your carrier has restricted your service to 2g or you don't have coverage in your area.
No, you can`t root your phone from the phone afaik and Mobile Odin needs root before you can use it

Yes, you can, read my reply
Of course the device needs to be rooted for Mobile Odin to work. Quote from the dev:
"Your device must be rooted to be able to use Mobile ODIN"
Otherwise it would mean that ANY app can simply overwrite or rewrite your firmware which in itself would be a major security risk.

That's exactly the way I did it.
-Rooted with exynos abuse 1.40 (phone was on 4.1.1)
-installed mobile odin for flashing recovery and kernel
After that I could do everything out of CWM.
So my S3 never saw a pc

Does any one have a link to exynos? And I'm running stock 4.0.4 right now. Also I know unit really supposed to ask and is your own preference but I'm just curious what are the more popular stable roms out there. I like themes a lot lol. But I want one that has decent battery stats and can boost my Internet speed. I know that's possible bc a guy at a phone store had his rooted and on cincinnati bell and he had a lot my options than me.

Go to settings > about phone > software info, and tell us what build number you have. If (xxx)11o, then you've just received the 11c update in all likelihood. If your build ends with 11c, then it's something new. As mentioned above, my money is on the 11c update.

Is that no as in "not yet" or "never" ???
My guess is gonna be a never. I don't see how an app that doesn't use root access can bypass the Verizon check. If I remember what I read correctly that change resided in the framework-res.apk
If rooted/unlocked then yes there is a mod which enables the native tethering

Yes you can. Pre 4.3 you could use several apps to access the native Hotspot feature with out having to actually have the service. With the 4.3 update all these apps are now broken and there's a message saying you're not subscribed to the Hotspot service.
Awesome thanks for providing the link. Can this be flashed on a stock rom with locked bootloader? I allowed my phone to do the OTA update not thinking about the bootloader lock :? grrrrr. I did get the phone rooted just not unlocked. If odin or stock recovery wont work any idea as to how I could get it on the ohone. Maybe ADB?
I had thought the courts and the FCC had ruled that Verizon couldn't charge it's customers an extra fee for using hotspot anymore. Can anyone confirm/deny?

It was the FCC, and it only applies to people that have a data cap. VZ is still allowed to charge unlimited data folks.

You need a custom recovery to flash that file, and you need an unlocked bootloader(or bootstrap method) to load one onto the phone.

You can try towelroot depending on what version software you have.
And you should be able to downgrade without having issues. Haven't tested that with the newest firmware though.

Do some research before trying this. But you go to towelroot.com on your phone and download the apk. After downloading the apk go to settings on your phone and allow installing apps from unknown sources. Then install the apk and run the app.

towelroot may not work on firmware nf6 or ng3 basically any firmware after ne6 cannot be rooted with towelroot. however you can downgrade to ne6 , root with towel;root . and then upgrade and retain root with mobile odin pro. here is my thread regarding this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2790292

If you have handset protection from TMOBILE I wouldn't worry about tripping KNOX. The only warranty knox trip affects is the warranty that comes with the phone from Samsung. Nothing voids the premium handset warranty including throwing your phone at the wall on purpose . Tmobile would rather replace a knox tripped phone rather than replacing one that is ran over by a car. If you don't have premium handset insurance then I understand why you wouldn't want to trip it

There are literally dozens, if not hundreds of threads about this.
If you have any S5 model other than the 900H, simply use Odin to revert to a pre-June 3rd build of 4.4.2 stock firmware and then use Towel root.
As simple as that.

Exactly. This device has been rooted for ages. The first rule of obtaining/retaining root: NEVER OTA
Devs are not inclined to find exploits for every single update that comes out (especially when the updates are usually to patch the exploits previously used). It's usually just the first or maybe a handful of releases (if you're lucky) that get root.
