[Q] Error on RIL - SIGNAL_STRENGTH error - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi Guys, I'm sory for posting this in here, but to no permissions to go the other way.
I've been struggling for same days with a problem on my custom board EM210 Android 4.03 ICS regarding Carrier network.
From the logcat -b radio I got
D/RILJ ( 2325): [0129]> SIGNAL_STRENGTH
D/RIL ( 2149): onRequest: SIGNAL_STRENGTH
E/RIL ( 2149): EM210 onRequest1 129=19
E/RIL ( 2149): EM210 onRequest15 12=19
D/AT ( 2149): AT> AT+CSQ
D/AT ( 2149): AT< +CSQ: 8,99
D/AT ( 2149): AT< OK
E/RILC ( 2149): invalid response length
D/RILJ ( 2325): [0129]< SIGNAL_STRENGTH error: com.android.internal.telephony
.CommandException: INVALID_RESPONSE
D/RILB ( 2325): getLteOnCdmaMode=0 curVal=-1 product_type='' lteOnCdmaProduct
Type=''
D/RILB ( 2325): getLteOnCdmaMode=0 curVal=-1 product_type='' lteOnCdmaProduct
Type=''
And this prevents carrier signal to be shown in the icon on the status bar.
Does anybody has a way to solve this ? Or at least an idea on how it can be solved?
Thanks

[Q] How to debug a dropped call?

Hi,
I have been using a non-carrier-branded phone (HTC Desire -> stock ROM) without problems during more than one year. Voice and data OK. Carrier is Orange Spain.
Now, I've changed to a different carrier (Vodafone Spain) using and old SIM card I've been using during years in several old Nokia phones without problems (using only voice). As I don't have data yet in that old line, I've deactivated all data connections (3G and WIFI) in my HTC Desire.
With the Vodafone SIM card ALL calls drop after 10-20 seconds.
I ordered a duplicate of the SIM card and the problem still happens. Then I tried with my wife's Vodafone SIM card and the problem it's the same.
The problem happens at different places (home, office, gym...).
I've made a HARD reset without success.
--------------
So, I'm running out of ideas. It seems that the problem root becomes from a combination of the phone and the carrier, worst possible scenario.
I'd like to debug the problem (mainly to know who is dropping the call, the carrier or the phone) but I don't know where I can change (if possible) the call trace level to DEBUG and where are the associated logs.
Maybe with the stock ROM is impossible. In that case, can anyone recommend me any ROM I can use to debug this problem?
Thanks

Another idea:
Do you think that upgrading to v2.3 manually could solve the problem?
Ok, I've found that using adb and logcat is possible to debug calls.

It seems that carrier is disconnecting the call, but why?
I updated radio to 5.14.05.17 and 5.17.05.23 without success. I've also tried to use CM7 7.0.3 and CM 7.1... but it's no working...
Any idea?

Help - Lost data after flashing

Hi -
I'm hoping that someone can help me... after flashing a rom I no longer have data. Voice works perfectly fine, however it is not able showing any 3g connection any more. Wifi/Bluetooth also works perfectly.
I've tried reflashing modems and firmwares with ODIN but it has not fixed the issue.
Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't have a backup of the EFS partition before the problem.
Cheers
-dh
call ur career customer care & ask them to send u settings
Sent from my Galaxy S II via XDA app so sorry if i did any typographical or other mistakes!!
I did that but it had no affect. They also showed me that replacing my sim in one of their phones gave data. So I'm left thinking it is my phone that is causing the problem?
One factory reset
Two check CSC and APN settings are correct .
Three check DATA is not switched OFF .
As you have flashed and then had problems logic says its its unlikely to be the phone .
Clean phone revert to correct stock rom and test .
jje
Do you still have your ime?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Tried using ODIN to go back to stock rom, checked CSC and APN settings but no luck. Still says disconnected in status.
I have a valid IMEI number (or at least I think it is valid) - and phone calls work absolutely fine.
When putting my SIM in other phones the data works perfectly.
Any other ideas?
If you press and hold the power button until the menu pops up can you select to turn data on?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Tried that yep, with no luck. It turns the 'mobile network state' into connecting followed by disconnected. Strange eh?
Isn't there a *# combo to look at the RIL status? logcat doesn't help (form what i can tell).
Oddly enough... (I'm traveling right now from US->UK) - but under Status I get unknown for phone # and a lil 'R' above the signal strength?
I think the "r" is for roaming.
I know my carrier has different data settings for different phones and one time I had to ring them to set their system up so I could get data working.
Worth a try...
Also worth a try is splashing your phone with holy water and saying "the power of Christ compels you"

[Q] Some application is stopping my phone from booting

Somehow last night my phone (Galaxy S4 running AOSP 4.4.2) crashed and now it wont reboot. It just sticks on the screen with the four colours animation for ever. I tried deleting the Cache, and Davilik Cache but it has not fixed the problem .. after this is went through the Upgrading Android process for all the apps but then stuck on "Starting Apps" .. so pretty clearly some application is starting and has a problem and so my phone wont boot .. but is there anyway of finding out which application it is?? Im aware I can wipe data and start again but would like to solve the problem without this if its possible. I also tried re-flashing my ROM but it didnt help.
Thanks for any help in advance.
If it helps anybody help me, I plugged my phone into usb while it is stuck in the bootloop and ran
