[Q] Totally lost with GT-i9100T recovery issue - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey all
I'm having an issue with my friends GT-i9100T. He was having some problems with adware and read online how to enter recovery mode to do a factory reset. Since doing so, the phone will only boot to the Samsung splash screen and gets no further. Recovery is now unavailable (gets to the screen with the android with the blue spinning cage in his chest, but phone just reboots and locks up on Samsung splash again after about 5 minutes).
Download mode is available.
Kies doesn't recognize the device, though it does attempt to connect. just doesn't get past "connecting". I've tried this on 2 computers, three different cables, and two different batteries (I read these things can sometimes cause connection issues).
So I don't really know what to do from here. I considered flashing a stock ROM or CWM via odin as I can access download mode, but have absolutely no idea what version to use, as I can't access any of the phones info, and not really confident enough to jump to that in case I do more harm than good. I've used odin before to root my s4, but am far from experienced enough to start experimenting randomly.
Any tips, tricks, or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

[Q] Stock Rom Restore in GT I9100 to deal with boot stuck screen

Hi Everyone,
First of all I would like to apologize, if I am repeating any question. I tried many threads but I couldn't understand completely. Hence I am afraid I need to ask individually. Hope thats fine with the community.
So, I own a Samsung Galaxy SII since last 27 months. I bought it with Orange on a contract in France and the company unlocked it many months ago since I do not live in France anymore. I have never flashed the phone with any other ROM, or provided root access or anything else. I have always used Kies to update the software. If I remember correctly the phone currently has Jelly Bean on it (4.1.2 I think). It doesn't have any external SD card, just the internal memory.
Due to some unknown reason, since yesterday the phone is not able to boot up. Its stuck at "Samsung GALAXY S II GT-I9100" screen. I tried to used Volume up+Home+Power keys to go into recovery mode which is not possible. I also tried to go in Download mode using Volume down+Home+Power keys which is possible. Then I tried to connect with Kies to connect it but after 15-20 mins Kies gives error in recognizing the device. When I open ODIN 1.85 (I guess that is the version which should work with my phone), it does shows "Added" status for the device.
Now after reading many posts I have realized that restoring to stock rom would resolve the issue, but it still dint for many. What is appropriate way to deal with this problem. I found some stock rom on the page of mobile network comparison webpage , but I am not sure if I should use it or not. Also I am afraid if I should check the region/model etc for this. I guess I should only install ROM which lies in France-Orange category.
I do not care about any data since I back up my phone from time to time. But I do not wish to play around with the phone much, unless required. However I would appreciate if there is any way to restore the contacts and message stuff.
Thank you very much for your help and support. I highly appreciate the effort.

[Q] GT-I9300 (semi)Bricked?

Hello All!
My first post here, even though I have long been a lurker. I hope I'm posting in the right place. If not, apologies, and Mods - please redirect me, and I shall re-post in the correct place.
Phone: SAMSUNG GALAXY S3 GT-I9300 International version
Last known installed/running OS: Official SAMSUNG JB ROM (Unsure WHICH version) after having run on CM 4.4 for a couple of weeks.
PROBLEM:
a few months after going back to stock, Phone suddenly developed issues of random reboots. These would happen at any point in time, with no predictability whatsoever. One fine day, it rebooted, and wouldn't get past the Samsung splash screen. Pulling the battery and trying to restart phone resulted in the same stuck at Samsung logo issue.
Left the phone alone for a couple of months after this as I had a spare, but finally decided to try and revive the S3.
Phone does not charge when connected to charger. At least, it shows no visible signs of it. It DOES, however, try booting itself when plugged in, but gets stuck on the first screen of ODIN Download mode, instead of the Samsung logo splash screen as it used to earlier. Also note that this screen it gets stuck on is a pixellated screen, not the clear normally seen screen when entering ODIN mode.
The Vol UP, Home and power button combo brings me to this very same screen, there is no recovery menu to be seen, as would be normally. The Vol DOWN, Home and power button combo brings me to the regular clear ODIN mode as usual.
The headings at this screen read:
ODIN MODE
PRODUCT NAME: GT-I9300
CUSTOM BINARY DOWNLOAD: No
CURRENT BINARY: Samsung Official
SYSTEM STATUS: Custom
I have read through most posts regarding similar issues on XDA as well as other forums, and tried flashing stock firmwares (single AND multiple part ones) through ODIN, with no success. The error i always get is as in the attached screen captures.
I've tried ALL versions of ODIN, and many PIT files. All were failures.
So, is this a dead for all purposes phone, or do I still have hope since ODIN mode is still available?
I don't think USB debugging was checked before bricking, because ADB toolkits just keep waiting for phone to be detected.
All drivers are up to date and installed correctly. Kies is not installed.
Any help is welcome.
@Mohanms04: if you flash a 3part-PIT, what result views ODIN after finishing?
I have a Device here which seems to have the same or at least a similar problem, however, i got it for free from someone else to experiment with, so there is no urgent need to repeir it.
I tried flashing a pit and erasing nand, but when i start to do it, odin just gets stuck at "erasing", if i try to flash a full firmware it just hangs at "getting pit for mapping" so i assume the nand is gone for good... however, i have one more dead s3 arround that seems to have a burned cpu, probably i manage to solder over the nand or the cpu

ODIN stays at "Setup Connection" without any progress. I've left it overnight a few times, just to ensure I was giving it enough time.
When the cable is pulled, it reads "there is no pit partition"
@Mohanms04: I suppose, it's hardbricked

Aargh.. was afraid of that. Well, guess its JTAG to try next, and then paperweight if that dont fix it.
Thanks anyways!!

Try this recovery firmware, if not the jtag is required.

'charging.jpg' draw failed

It's looking like my GS2 is giving up the fight
I've been running Neatrom 6.4 for ages and everything has been fine until the other day.
My phone randomly turned off and then kept bootlooping (stuck on samsung screen). I couldn't access recovery, only download mode.
I've tried flashing several kernels and roms on odin without any success. Now the phone tells me there is a firmware problem and when I plug it in it says 'charging.jpg' draw failed....not really sure how to fix this.
I saw the advice in this thread but it doesn't seem that relevant since I have an underlying issue beyond the jpg being missing.
Any ideas on what to do?

Note 8 crashing after flash

So I've reached out to this forum as I've tried a million and one things but can't seem to get my phone to boot.
Here's the situation:
I fell asleep watching a video on my phone and my phone died. I plugged it into the charger and it wouldn't boot, would just endlessly be stuck in a boot loop. Looked it up and saw this is a common issue. Went through the standard fixes:
Wiped the cache
Factory reset the phone.
Attempted to boot in safe mode. (Wouldn't work, still boot looped)
After all this failed I thought I would just flash it using Odin v3.14. T-Mobile is my carrier and I'm based in the US so I used this firmware: SM-N950U TMB, LINK(https://updato.com/download-samsung...sa/sm-n950u/B094B9DAF04A11EAB4A2FA163EE8F90B/)
It still didn't work after this. It booted up and the startup process began asking me to agree to the terms and conditions. Before even getting to agree, the phone crashed. I tried this again and it just kept failing and crashing. I did this all while plugged into a charger. What I did begin to notice is that the phone would get hot on the left side, where the battery sits. I'm not sure if this is related to the crash or just the fact that its been discharging and charging a lot while I troubleshoot it. I have tried different firmware as well just in case I had the wrong one, but nothing has been working. When I update the firmware I used the CSC file and not the HOME_CSC and I also use the USERDATA file since at this point I kind of accepted I'm not getting my pictures and files back and I'm just trying to get the phone to work once again, thus just trying to factory restore it. Also, when the phone does start booting it says optimizing apps on the bottom each time I boot it I feel this number is changing. I'm not sure what else to do or if anyone has any suggestions? Thank you in advance

Samsung Galaxy S9+ (G965F Dual Sim) Bricked/Bootloop

Hello XDA community,
I have a G965F that is permanently stuck on the first boot screen (Samsung Galaxy S9+ secured by Knox powered by Android) and it will not progress past this point. I have left it on for hours, and it just stays on that screen. Recovery mode does not work; if I try the button combination for it, it just stays on the same screen as mentioned before. However, I am able to get it into download mode. From here, I have tried flashing every firmware I possibly could, of course with the correct region and version, but nothing works, and the situation stays the same as mentioned before. Odin usually finishes up with no problems and reboots the phone, in which case the bootloop happens once again. On the rare occasion that Odin does fail, it will not boot even to the first splash screen but rather to the blue screen with the triangle, telling me to connect it to SmartSwitch and go from there. I have attempted this also, but SmartSwitch only gives some errors, and it fails.
The phone was on the stock firmware for a few years and even updated through Odin when OTA didn't work. It is a UK-unlocked Exynos device. About 2 years ago, I decided to switch to lineageOS using Neuroticals ROM, and that worked flawlessly, OTA updates and everything, 0 problems. I even went back to stock at some point and reinstalled Lineage shortly after because of how much it improved the device. About 9 months since I last did any type of flashing, the phone randomly froze while I was using it (I think the bottom half of the screen went black) and was totally unresponsive until I forced shut it down. This is where the aforementioned problem began.
I thought letting the battery run out would help, but it hasn't. One thing I have noticed is that it either charges very slowly or doesn't at all; it will only stay on for a maximum of a minute after it is unplugged. I left it for a few months, hoping to discharge it completely, but the problem persists.
Apologies for the lengthy post; I've used this site for about a decade for mods on various devices and it has solved all of my problems, but this is the first one that has really stumped me. For the past few months I've spent tens of hours searching various forums and webpages but can find very little about my specific problem. Thank you for any help in advance.
I will include pictures of the codes that download mode shows, and hopefully someone has some answers.
PS. For some reason current binary says "Custom (0x8)" after successfully flashing the stock firmware many times with Odin, but when Odin does fail it will show "Samsung Official". This I cant make heads or tails of.
