google music on cm11 - AT&T HTC One (M8)

I use this app constantly. I love it. I'm using the last snapshot build of cm11. I have also tried recent nightlies. When playing music on this app, it will randomly quit. When I look at the app, it still shows that it is playing, but there is no sound. if i push the back or next button, the music will come back. Is this a bug in cm11 or in the music app? I just recently switched from an s4 and it never had this problem. Thanks!

edit: It also does it using apollo. It happens with or without headphones. A recent nightly refused to allow any media playback and faulted dsp manager. could that be the problem here?

me too
Did you fix it? If so, how?

Google Music Craps Out after 2-3 Songs??

Having an issues with google music where it'll play 2-3 songs then stop and it refuses to play any more. I can't skip a track and if I go back to select a new song it will hang on a blank google music screen with nothing selected. I have to kill the app via task manage in order to play 2-3 more songs before it happens again. very annoying as my phone NEVER did this before.
Also the issues persists whether or not I'm on WiFi or not, and I've also tried uninstalling google music, refreshing my music, deauthorizing my phone and reauthorizing it, as well as playing music in low and high quality. Nothing works.
I have also been experiencing this problem, haven't found a fix yet though. It actually does the same thing on the stock player as well as google music for me.
Seems to be the LA4 build as I have never had a problem until I flashed the LA4 builds.

Yea I'm on LA4 as well, thought this may be the case but had hoped it wasn't shame cuz I'm really enjoying this rom.
I may have to go back to SHOstock if I can't find a fix though

Jelly Bean Audio Issue

ok i dont know if there is a fix and i had tried to find, but everytime i reboot i have have to open my audio play, whether it be google music or mog or any music player and then i have to kill it then reopen and music works. does anyone know of a fix for this to avoid in having to open and kill it on every reboot? thank u,
I cant be the only one with this prob. Come on
I cannot honestly say I have heard of anyone on JB that has such an extensive issue with Audio...
I have run JB since I got the device and besides some early issues that have already been resolved... it was still never as bad as your experiencing!
I can only say to try and go back stock 100%, then once you have go through samsung kies and do the emergency firmware restore/wipe thingy, then try going back to a freshly downloaded copy of the JB rom of your choice...
Sorry your having so many issues
It is actually only when i play music from the device not streaming. I flashed the same rom on a stock ics note and they have the same issuez.

That was really hard to read.
Are you saying that you have no sound upon booting, until you open a music file?
If so, what music effect apps do you have installed? Check in the sound panel, inside the settings app.
Do you have Volume+, MusicFX, or Volume Boost? Anything like that?

when i open up google music, i click on a file and it just hangs, until i kill the app reopen then the file starts up normal, this happens everythine i reboot i have to do this after i do that its fine until i reboot again, also when i stream music it is just find its only when i play music on the device, this also does the same with MOG
Audio hang on i717 with Jelly bean
I have the same problem but not with every music app. Power amp works no problem but the apps I use for audio books Mort Audio Book Player or Smart Audio Books do not work unless i force close and then reopen. I have sometimes avoided the problem by opening a book in an alternate method so I suspect it may be something related to how the apps store the position in a track.
I also had problems with Map my run a run tracking app that can announce when you have run a certain distance. Map my run would capture audio focus and never release it. So my music would go silent until reboot. I am running CM10 stable but think I'll go back to CM9 becuase i use the audio book apps a lot and am too impastient and easily irritated to keep having to force close the apps. I have even had to battery pull on occasion but probably only because I was too impatient for the phone to come back online.

Volume increasing after song

I don't use my tb for music very often but i just noticed that when I have headphones in and start a song at my desired volume level, when the song changes (either on its own or when i change it) the volume will jump up to almost full blast. Scared the crap out of me the first time. As soon as I press the volume down it jumps back down to the previous level. It will do this continually. Can anything be done about it? Is there a fix?
FWIW, I'm running some recent twisted ics build.
Thanks!
Are all your MP3s in the same bitrate? different bitrates can be of different volumes.
Also, twisted has not updated anything in a long time, try one of Santod's ROMs, or the stock rooted by Santod. He is trying his best to keep like 4-5 ROMs updated.
Yes all my mp3s are the same bit rate. Especially from the same album. I might try a different rom real quickly to see if that solves it. Any other ideas?
Mine has been doing the same using the google music player on twisteds newest build. Although, this does not occur when using Pandora.

I'm glad to hear it's not just me. You are correct that it doesn't do it on Pandora or other radio streaming apps. It definitely does with stock music player and Google/Play music player that is being streamed. Have you tried any other roms?
No I haven't tried another rom since I noticed the frightening increase. I'm not sure but I don't think this was happening on his previous builds but I could be mistaken.

Same problem
Yeah i confirm, i've exactly the same issue. The volume jumps soudainly to maximum when the a new song starts. However, i use Google Play on a custom Rom based on CM 7 (Lewa Os)! :/
It seems to take place when dsp manager is included in a rom... Un-installing it and install back should work, that's all i know.
How do i reinstall dsp manager without just doing a restore from titanium backup since i can't find it in the play store? Does that count as doing a reinstall?
Did you ever solve this problem? I also have it

Nope...
BT headset audio extremely loud by default. Gets hinky as you try and lower it (raising it seems to work fine).
Only one device to test it with so far (LG TONE 730).
Works fine with HTC One and Nexus 10 on 4.3.

FLAC Files Distorted
FLAC files keep skipping and are coming out very distorted on 4.4, did a full restore to both builds of 4.4 and the issue still stands with play music and even winamp. Is there any solution to this?
Exchange email will not sync after initial setup. Same issue on my N4 running 4.4 KRT16S.

I am currently using Poweramp to play FLAC files, no skip or stuttering. Works OK when sleeping also.
Getting parse Error when trying to install apks outside of the market, no matter what apk. Unknown soures enabled of ourse.
Stock KRTS16, BL Unlocked, rooted.
Nevermind, looks resolved, no idea what I did to resolve it though...
The OTA Kitkat update appears to have broken video streaming playback (on my local network). For whatever reason, it's now very choppy and it is impossible to watch anything.
Anyone else having the same experience?
Might be just me, but when sending an email via the stock email app it will only give you the option of attaching either a picture or video? You can "share" a file via email and it will attach okay, but if you are say, replying to an email and need to attach a PDF there is no option to attach anything other than picture or video? Used to be just "attach file" did it not?
I was browsing using opera. After a crash, I did try using chrome. It crashed then and the device rebooted.
Did exeperience this once till now.
Is anyone else having issues with the screen timeout? I have mine set to 1 minute and my screen never turns off.

[Q] Music just stops for no reason

I've tried using Apollo and Play Music apps, and each of them just randomly stop playing music after a while. By that I mean apps compeltely stop working, you can change tracks, it just doesn't play anything at all, and the timer show 0:00 and doesn't go anywhere. It can only be fixed by restarting the phone.
I have CM11 M9 version installed on my device with CWM 6.0.5.0 (i think) on it. What could be the cause of this? It is very annoying.
This has been discussed ad nauseam recently......this is a KNOWN ISSUE with CM11 Roms.....
A little reading and you would have found this out without starting a new thread.....if there is a fix, then it's a work in progress, and has not been included in any rom......
If it's a deal breaker, the only thing you can do is revert to a JB based rom.....
