So I have been rooting and customizing phones for a while now, but this one has me totally stumped.
Running A Sprint Note 3, I used auto root to root the phone. Using CWM recovery and both install fine.
These are the steps I took:
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
wipe dalvik cache
format system
format data
format cache
reboot back into recovery and then install Sacs Rom from zip
It installs fine when it reboots it hangs on the Samsung splash screen
I have let it sit for hours and it does not move.
Any help and advice would be great.
First, we need to know which sacs rom 4.4 you are referring to there is more than one. Next we need to know what version of KitKat you are running. The first thing I would do is get fresh download of the sacs rom. To eliminate the possibility of a bad download the first time. Next pick another rom try and flash that one. Eliminate the possibility of a bad recovery install.
I run stock, rooted, KK 4.4.2 NC5 with Philz custom recovery, version 6.12.9
If you want a stock copy of NC5 here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2712205 if you need a copy of the recovery here is the link https://goo.im/devs/philz_touch/CWM_Advanced_Edition/hltespr/ to root I used SuperSu v 2.02 is the latest version here is the link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053 and from your post you already have Odin but I use version 1.85 here is the link http://www.downloadodin.info/download-odin-1-85
Remember, once you are at KK 4.4.2 NC5 the custom rom that you are going to install has to have a kernel that is compatible with NC5 and it's bootloader.

Please forgive the noobish question..this is my 1st android product and I am still learning...
I am currently using Task650's rom version 5 along with the current pershoot kernal....If I want to move to Version 6
1. do i only wipe the delvrik cache, then flash version 6?
2. do I need to reflash the kernal after flashing version 6
3. what is the easiest way to backup all my apps if i have to wipe everything and then put them back?
i am using a rooted 10.6 wifi only...just really trying to get the hang of if there is an order to flashing roms and kernals like if i install a new rom or even update if i have to reflash kernal and reset setcpu?..thanks in advance.
download titanium back up ( free one from market), back up the apps you want
get into CWM, wipe/factory reset, clear cache. clear dalvik, flash, and done.
if you are on pershoot kernel, then you have to reflash the pershoot kernel after you flash V6 because V6 flashes a new kernel.
I usually flash rom first before i flash kernel, since ROM overwrite kernels.
you can just wipe dalvich and cache and you'll be good bro
Awesome, ty Task
Hi,
Currently using latest firmware KI3 with root.
I'm able to use CWM, backup, install zips, everything.
However, if i install a ROM trough a ZIP, i get a boot loop.
Only way to get back the phone, it's to install via ODIN with latest KI3.
Even tried with Litening Rom, and got the boot loop.
Any ideas ?
I was very keen to return to CM7.
Tx in advance.
Did you exactly what's mentioned here?
Install via ClockworkMod (do not use ROMManager for initial install):
Make sure you're running a rooted device.
Root your device and install ClockworkMod Recovery (http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1118693)
Do a Nandroid backup!
WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition) - do it for real.
Install the ROM from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery.
Do not reboot! We mean it - do nothing except choose zip and continue next step (if you come back to us with permission issues in install, we will know you did not read the directions and will call you an idiot). If it just plain hangs, reboot directly back into ClockworkMod recovery and continue at the next step.
Install the ROM from internal sdcard using ClockworkMod Recovery, again (due to a bug in the install).
Reboot
Install the Google Addon through ROMManager which is easiest, but you can
download the gapps.zip and install via ClockworkMod recovery instead.

Did you try flashing a old stock ROM like KH3, root it then try from this base?
I went from Villain ROM 2.3.5 to CyanogenMOD without any problems.
It's essential that you flash CyanogenMOD !TWICE! in a row when you're coming from a stock ROM.
Thanks.
Gonna check, as soon as i'm @ 127.0.0.1
Same behaviour, back to boot loop.
Tanx anyway!
I had a similar problem so here goes my help.
Cf root kernel uses a modified version of CWM that isn't compatible with CM7 or something like that. So what I did was flash this kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1118693. Get the kernel with CWM 5.x.y.z With that I got a compatible version of CWM and from there I flashed CM7. It is important that you do a full wipe, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, format \system, everything so you don't get any trouble. THen you flash the CM7 zip file, when tha t is done, flash the zip again for a second time (don't reboot just do it after the first flash). After that reboot. That worked for me at least.
A tip: If you can't reboot your phone and you have no ROM zip file to flash via CWM you can mount usb storage from CWM for putting the ROM in sd card and flash with CWM. That way you don't have to use ODIN to recover.
Tanx Tomas.
Tried with CWM 5.x.y.z and upon "WIPE" always got an error for mounting partitions.
Could't mount CACHE, SDCARD .....
Tx anyway.
Back to ODIN, back to stock 2.3.5
PS : I have to get a JIG to reset ...
So... I have TeamWin bootloader (I think).
I'm trying to update to Bean's 4.3 update from late December. Can I get a quick... how do I do this? I see there are 3 different downloads (2 seem to be the same about 1GB and one is for the modem and wifi).
Basically, how to do I get it?! Thanks in advance and sorry if I'm doing this wrong...

Are you currently on a 4.1.2 base? Either stock or rooted. Are you rooted, if so what recovery are you using and are you on the most update recovery either Newest Philz, CWM (6.0.4.3) or TWRP (2.6.3.1)? If these are yes, then download a 4.3 roms from Beans, Sophisticated, Alliance, R3D Nep...so on. If not rooted and on 4.1.2 base, download casual script and root your phone and it will install a custom recovery for you, TWRP 2.5.0.0. Next, Download the Wifi/Modem Beans has posted. Make a back up of your current rom in the recovery of your choice (system, data, cache, radio(modem). Wipe user/data, cache, dalvik, 3x. Then install the rom, boot up to make sure you did it right. Reboot into recovery, open ODIN 3.07, check the PDA box, select the PDA box to open the new modem.tar, flash it, wait for it to complete, once completed wipe data/user, cache, dalvik, reboot into ROM and you should now have the 4.3ROM with MJ9 Radio. If you don't your WIFI should not work and you will have no service. Also, if you go to Settings < Phone < Status, you will see Unknown in lots of boxes.
Hi,
I am not unfamiliar with rooting a phone or loading a custom ROM, but im unsure about upgrading now that its no longer stock.
I have a GT-i9100 rooted and currently loaded with CWM 6.0.3.2 and Paranoid Android 3.60 (Android 4.2.2). I would like to upgrade to KK 4.4.2 Cyan Fox. What i want to know is how to go about this without killing my phone.
So far, from what have seen, i need to upgrade to a newer CWM that is 4.4.2 friendly, like This one by -Grift-. But the CWM 6.0.4.7 is a .zip, how do i load this? As far as I know only .tar files work when flashing with ODIN. You cant update from 6.0.3.2 to 6.0.4.7 from within CWM recovery mode using a .zip can you?
Once the CWM 6.0.4.7 is on, i should be able to load the ROM and GAPPS from the .zip files and boot into the new 4.4.2 OS right?
Will i need to wipe data and cache once the new 4.4.2. ROM is loaded, before i boot?
Would appreciate any input on this. Thanks
Although senior members might demand not to post such queries as they have become too repetitive, yet I'll be delighted to help an "inexperienced" user such as you, sir. As you already know about CWM 6.0.4.7 and its importance in flashing KitKat ROMs, the only way to update your CWM 6.0.3.2 or any version is by downloading the CWM 6.0.4.7.zip and placing it on your SD card. After that, boot into recovery and flash the .zip file. DON'T reboot your device just now, instead, navigate to "Advanced" and select reboot recovery (the option is usually there depending on what recovery you use and how it customized). As simple as that, the phone will reboot but only the recovery and you'll see the updated CWM 6.0.4.7. To flash the required 4.4.x KitKat ROM, previously place it on your SD card and choose to install .zip and browse to the location of the file depending where exactly you placed it. Wait till the installation has finished and then WIPE data/factory reset and wipe dalvik cache. Flash the Google apps you need after that, and there you go, KitKat on your i9100. Note that wiping the data partition is crucial, so flash responsibly and don't forget to make a nandroid backup

First make a rom backup of your 4.2.2 incase if something goes wrong and you want to restore back.
Then download the latest recovery version, twrp or cyanogenmod
Download cm11
Flash the newest recovery,
Reboot into recovery
Format data/factory reset
Wipe /system
Wipe /dalvik-cache
Flash cm11
Flash kitkat gapps
Reboot.
Enjoy cm11.
The reason why you need latest recovery is because cm11(kitkat) needs selinux enabled recoveries, else it will say something like aborted, set_metadata_recursive failed.
Goodluck with flashingcm11!

Is it corrupt maybe?
Did you downloaded cyanogenmod for the right device?(Probably you have but just in case)
Are you really using the latest recovery?
Better way, what error does it shows, why does it aborts.

Now you can full wipe, wipe cache data partitions format system and flash the laest cm11 + gapps with out any problems
