Hey everyone! I have been playing with a kdlinks a200 lately for fun.. unfortunately the filesystem has been corrupted and my backup didn't save correctly. I am having some major trouble finding firmware files for this to use. anyone have any ideas? i saw the mele x1000 uses the same chip as this, and i have tried following that proceedure to try and rebuild the filesystem with no avail. how about forcing FWDN to install firmware? the error i get in fwdn is some hardware issue. Thanks!
Clarification needed

I also own an A200 and two Kdlinks HD700s, so I am very familiar with this product.
I have a dedicated network media server with 16 TB of storage configured as a Raid 10, with FreeNas for my operating system. Even though FreeNas can be run from a flash or thumb drive, I have it installed on an SSD drive. I have a backup on a flash drive.
Before I can answer your questions I need to know:
1. When you say file system, are you referring to the A200 firmware (which is not a file system)?
2. Is your media stored on a hard drive, external or internal, that is connected to your A200?
3. Are your files stored on a network media server in a Raid configuration? If so, what is the operating system and what raid configuration are you using and how many drives are in the raid?
4. What method do you use to copy files to your media storage. For example, I use Windows File manager.
If your A200 is working fine, then the firmware is not your problem.
If it is a network server configured as a raid then the problem is either a drive or drives within the raid or the drive the operating system is installed on.
Hopefully the problem is the A200. It hasn't been out that long so it should still be under warranty. I know Eric at Kdlinks, if you contact him ([email protected]) he will get back to you withing 24 hrs.
i get a message tha says unfortunately KIUI has stoped

Hi all,
I recently got a 16 gb wi-fi Galaxy Tab 10.1, still unrooted. Made a spreadsheet in quickoffice (.xlsx) and attempted to transfer to my computer via flash drive. Pulled the drive out after transfer w/o ejecting it and corrupted the file (listed as 0 kb). The file is no longer listed on the tab.
Is there a chance a data recovery option could retrieve the original spreadsheet?
If so, how? I'm on a Mac and have had success using Data Recovery II, but it never recognizes the tab as a drive that can be scanned / recovered
I'm definitely a noob when it comes to working with tablets, apologies if this seems obvious or has already been answered.
Dear all,
Strange potential issue with my ASUS Prime...
When I connect it to my PC with MTP, I'm not seeing all the files. E.g. I have a folder which contains about 15 media files and on my Windows 7 machine I only see 3 of them..
Is there another way to access the internal storage over USB ? I would like to use a Linux system to copy large amount of files..
Thanks
I already found that I can see the "missing" files by first executing a rescan.
There is an app for this SDrescan in Android Market
So still asking if we can do anything to get the old USB storage back ?

This USB storage thing IS a problem on Linux sytems with the Prime, right now. I tried everything to get it to work one day ... before finally realizing that I was wasting my time.
To copy files, you could use ADB, but that is really slow for large amounts of copying, and you do have to install the Google SDK on your machine (which isn't a bad thing, but takes time.)
3 other solutions (1 & 2 are a 2-step copy process ... and only #1 is a USB method):
1) Instead of MTP, you can use the photo option (PTP, I believe) ... it's the choice right next to MTP in your settings. Unfortunately, with this method, you can only copy to your photo folder, so from there you would need to move your files to your final destination folder. PTP did allow me to see and move any type of files.
2) Copy your files to a microSD and plug them into your Prime's microSD and copy from there. (I know this is an obvious solution, but for completeness, I included it!)
3) AirDroid -- I've used this, and it works well ... probably quite slow for large amounts of copying.
Not the greatest solutions, but they will get you by...
One thing that i discovered that let me see all my files and be able to copy them to my TFP without issues is adding the UDEV rules. wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Udev gives you a good walkthrough on how to do that, just do the all models part and change the vendor id and everything should work for you. I verified this with LinuxMint and LMDE
Hello
I have accidently overwritten some photos on my Google Nexus 7 and would love to get them back. I`ve tried various recovery programs on Windows but none of them can read my tablet in MTP mode and I can`t connect it in mass storage mode. I have read that one way is to make a VHD image via RAW of the hard drive onto the pc, where the recovery programs can access it. The trouble is I I think have to root the tablet which i don`t really want to do
1) Is there a way of creating this file without rooting?
2) Does anyone know of a recovery program that uses MTP?
3) If I really HAVE to root, whats the least destructive way of doing this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Im afraid they are officially lost, if you didnt make a backup before hand then thats it.

Thanks but could you explain why you think that? Recovery programs scan your hard disk for sectors marked for deletion, looking for anything that looks like a jpeg file structure. I am hopeful one of these programs could salvage something, and would like to let at least one have a go. Unfortunately I can`t get that far as I can`t get the pc to scan connect to the tablet. I think its because the tablet does not have a USB Mass Storage mode, but can`t be sure. Hoping someone else is a little more optomistic!!!!
Android Data Recovery tool
Have you ever met the problem about losing your files on your phone suddenly? I have once lost my contacts and messages on my Samsung Galaxy S3, and I get all them back with the help of an Android Data Recovery tool.
Hello!
I just updated my ubuntu to the latest version, 13.04, and I wanted to transfer some files to my Galaxy s2 (i9100). I have had problem earlier which included slow transfer speed and I got 4 dialog screens wanting me to connect both the internal and external Sd-card instead of 2.
When I tried to transfer my files to my external Sd card I got an error message,
Code:
Error creating directory: Input/output error
. I thought that it was weird but since I was in a hurry I didn't have time for it. I opened my audio map on the computer but I didn't see any files there. I thought it was just my computer being slow so I disconnected my phone.
When I later tried to listen to music I couldn't find any with Apollo so I opened a file manager and I couldn't see my files there either. I restarted my phone but the music is still not showing. I also found out that also all my pictures are gone from the external Sd-card.
The custom ROM I have is ReVolt 4.3 if that would be to any help.
That's it for using Ubuntu.Use Windows or MAC like a normal man.

I'm sorry, that's garbage. That's not a solution.
OP I'm sorry I don't know much about Linux, I haven't used it extensively. In what limited use I have of it, I haven't come across that error I'm sorry.

Have all your files gone? If so it must have got wiped during a faulty mounting procedure, I am guessing you tried to mount the device as a USB storage device, faulty cables or improper connection have been known in my experience to do that that's why I say MTP is always safer because android still has control over the memory, unlike UMS it doesn't un mount the memory when connecting to a host device.
And personally I prefer Linux over any other OS, especially ubuntu linux.
But again there could be some bugs with the latest ubuntu.
Edit: also not to alarm you input/output error usually in linux means a hardware issue related to the external memory connected. But as I said before it could be something else like improper connection or a driver error.

Well, my photos have been replaced by some files with around 1 bytes in size and their name is similar to eachother.
I used the same cable and usb-port as before. I didn't know that you could use MTP on ubuntu. It seems like you have to install it yourself which I haven't done yet.
The weird thing is that I successfully conncted my external harddrive and it showed up on the computer and I managed to transfer some files to the computer. I didn't get any error message what so ever with the harddrive.
I have had this computer several years now and maybe it's time for an upgrade...

Replaced by small files you say? I think the files might have got corrupted, try running a disk error checking tool on your memory cards something like chkdsk(in Windows) for both your device memory, and didn't you say that you upgraded to Ubuntu 13.04? 13.04 supports MTP by default only in the previous versions were MTP a pain in the ass, we had to install the MTP library and had to install gMTP and it WAS a pain in the ass, but I haven't yet started using Raring to check how much efficient the new feature is, it will surely be polished from 13.10 onwards anyhow.
These kind of pain in the ass limitations force's me to dual boot windows with my Linux distribution(I occasionally change it).

I tried to run the chkdsk from windows 7 but after a while it just stopped. I will try again when I have more time on my hands. Maybe over night and see if it can find anything. Now my Audio map is gone and all the files in DCIM is called Q and have 0 bytes in size.
I did however find 2 albums that I had deleted myself in the .trash1000 map.

Ok I have now searched my memory with these instructions. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCtbHV2RKWs. It searched the whole memory but it didn't find any errors. I'd guess I'd be best off if I formatted the card again and start over.
I also checked with "chkdsk /f :f" from the command and I got the same results.

If it went through fine all must be well, formatting is a good idea though as it will probably remove any problematic data block problems.

My deepest apologies if this is the wrong forum but I am trying to find out if anyone has been able to modify these pdms as its little more than a cell phone made by a company called Nuu and its their A1+ phone.
It appears to be stripped of all apps and not sure if its possible to root it to add the other android apps back but it would be nice if I could add them back and do things like re enable the audio plug.
I just got one of these and started to investigate such an idea, which is how I found this thread.
So far I have gotten it to be accessible in Windows 10 Pro by installing the Drivers from:
https://www.helpjet.net/Fs-34429584-64578678-97773923-devices.html
It shows up under Devices and drivers as Android. Which is the Internal Storage on it.
To view the files on it , you have to copy them to another drive on your computer.
Within Device Manager Android Phone shows and within it it shows Android Composite ADB Interface so it appears the serial port to access the phone is accessible.
I installed a 32GB MicroSD and in Device Manager it shows up under Portable Devices as does Android .
In Device Manager Drives, neither the Android or 32Gb MicroSD Show up as drives.
, but Android is viewable in Explorer as a 5.24 GB Drive.
So it appears it is susceptible to hacking, just have to figure out how to do it....
It will be cool if someone can extract applications and make them work in any Android smartphone to avoid using 2 phones.
