This issue has been haunting me for a while now. I never really knew that it was the mediaserver but i found out like a week ago. Basically the mediaserver ram usage extends to maximum possible (it was 120mb once) and making multitasking or even general usage of the phone unusable. Even if i open dialer and then close it right away, the home screen has to reload. The ram is simply full because of this. It doesn't matter if i listen to music, watch videos or even TOUCH the phone, it always happens after a while. When i restart the phone, the mediaserver memory goes back to normal (around 8mb). I've read somewhere that corrupt media can cause this and i can assure you that my sdcard doesn't have any. Plus the mediaserver uses some processor too. That results in stutters on the lg interface. Here is a screenshot (please note that it's 60mb on there but over time it climbs up to 100+ mb filling the whole ram)

Oh and this is a stock KK 20a
One this that helps is the Mediaserver Killer. Well.. not quite. After i kill the media server, i cannot hear anything in the earpiece while on call. This is resolved ONLY if i restart the phone (which i've been doing quite a lot lately)
(Don't tell me to factory reset my phone. I've been doing this quite a lot lately and i'm tired of backing up my apps and data)
I'd really like to find out what could be causing it. I'll provide more resources if you need them.
Edit: I found a file called external.db on my internal memory, what is it? (It's over 6mb big)
@RaawrItsTomi External.db is the database of files scanned by the mediascanner. there was also an internal.db for the internal storage I believe :silly:.
I am not sure why your mediaserver is 50-60 MB you could maybe also have some crappy apps on your phone, also if the media scanner drains alot of your battery then that could also say that you have an corrupt file and then the scanner keeps repeating till it get good scanned.
I know there was a bug with the mediaserver on 4.1.2 but it got fixed.
But 20A seems to be kitkat as far as I know LG with their Software versions. I can't tell you or this also happen to other users with the L9 since I don't own the device and didn't had Stock LG anymore since stock 4.0.4
I hope for you that other people also respond to your thread since I can't really help you with your problem, I just went passing by for a friend.

Ahh okay have fun on your cm11 hope you won't have your old problems anymore :good:
I am not sure about greenify, never used it. I always have a Slim phone only the apps I need.
Isn't there another custom stock rom modified which you could try?

I haven't seen this mentioned anywhere, but has anyone else had issues with flash videos not playing? Instead of them playing in the browser, a new gray window pops up with the touchplayer logo in the middle. Then it spins for maybe 20 seconds, and says that there was an error playing the video.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any ideas on how to solve it?
Its the biggest issue I have with the touchpad, I love it besides this.
I've attached screen shots of what I'm seeing (if it works from my Evo 3D, couldn't seem to attach images from the touchpad browser)
Thanks!

Any sites in particular?
My guess though is poor implementation on the sites you can't get it to work with, but it could also be from ad blocking.
here is one.
http://jalopnik.com/5837515/watch-this-ninja-flip-over-a-speeding-acura-nsx
I watch a lot of videos here, and at least 90% of the time it doesn't work. Every once in a while a video does work normally. I tried taking off ad blocker, but it didn't seem to help.
can you guys play that video on your TP?
site works fine for me. Sorry
wow, this is frustrating. Even YouTube videos thru the YouTube "app" do this. I really gotta figure this out.
One possible scenario could be the kernel you're using. I had the same problem when I was using the F-15 kernel. Once I switched over to the F-4 Phantom kernel, flash worked just fine. Might wanna try that if you've experimented with kernels, overclocked, etc.
Works for me too and I block ads with my own list directly in /etc/hosts. Should also work for you, it's just a youtube video. Try watching it on youtube.com if you cant make it work there (press on the youtube button at the bottom).
Did you download the last adobe flash player drivers? 10.3 i think.
it solve this issue with my Nexus.

As far as I know, there is no manual way to update the flash plugin on webOS, it just comes with the official updates sent out by HP. However, did you try updating your touchpad to the latest webOS version under settings?
This happens to me as well, it's quite annoying. :/ I am running a custom kernel though...I'll have to look into it more.
Please let me know if you find a fix. I was using Uberkernal at 1.5, but I tried going back to stock kernal and nothing changed. I have the recommended patches as well to speed up the tp, but I doubt those are causing issues, otherwise everyone would be reporting this issue.
Maybe tonite i will look into a hard reset (full wipe). I don't know how to do that as of now, but i assume it can be done easily.
Any other thoughts on this issue?

I am using uberkernel right now and it worked okay. I would just try doing a full reset of your tablet, because youtube should probably be the first flash based site that always works. The only other thing I can think of that might be causing the problem is if you are signed into the html5 test on youtube.
Just wanted to post an update. I was able to get flash working again. Flashing the stock kernal back didnt help, nor did a hard reset. But when I looked at the browser preferences, i cleared cookies and cache, and turned off "enable flash" and "Autoload Flash". Not sure exactly what combo made it work, but everything is working as it should now.
Thanks to those who looked into this for me, I appreciate it!
similar issue
I have a similar issue, flash doesn't work on some sites especially the cbc.ca video site (none of the videos work ). Youtube works fine though.
Things I've tried so far:
1) Full Erase and reinitialization of WebOS
2) Installation and later removal of some "performance tweaks" including Preware, Uberkernel etc.
3) Clearing of Cache and Cookies
4) Reinstallation of WebOS through WebOSDoctor
Everything works fine with my laptop on the same network, just not on the Touchpad.
Hi,
this probably was discussed already but can't seem to find anything using search.
My battery drops about 30% overnight with Wifi and Mobile data disabled, I'm coming from a HTC Desire which lost 2 or 3% under same conditions.
I noticed yesterday night that wifi-sharing took a lot of battery although I never used this and wifi was off.
I then rooted and installed titanium backup and I froze wifi-sharing and the samsung "hub" apps as this was mentionned on another forum as being a solution.
This morning however, no wifi sharing which is good, but I lost again 30%, this time just the "android system" took the most.
I'm out of ideas, this can't be normal right?
I am still running 2.3.3, there are no upgrades for my country currently
BB version I9100XXKE4
Kernel 2.6.35.7 [email protected] #2
Build gingerbread.xwke7
I think I might be ready to start flashing ROM's now
Anybody any tips? I like my device as is so want to keep it as stock as possible but with better battery life and if possible editable power controls in the notification bar (I want to add "mobile data" also to it)
Cheers

Since you are already rooted and want to stay as stock as possible then go to this thread here and follow the guide that Intratech gives and choose whichever firmware you want. they are all official releases and all stock as you like it.
Backup your rom though in recovery. Make sure you backup your apps with Titanium Backup and read the guides in that thread i gave you and you should be fine. Also install an application called BetterBatteryStats. That should help you find out what keeps your phone awake and what application causes it. That way you can either remove that application or just freeze it. Search for the app using google and you should have it in the first few results
Thank you for the info, I've installed betterbatterystats so before installing a new rom/firmware hopefully I'll figure out what's eating the battery
ps by saying "close to stock" I actually might have expressed myself incorrectly, I meant I didn't want major GUI changes like e.g. the MIUI roms... I've used go launcher on all my phones/roms anyway
If there are roms out there who can improve speed/functionality/customisation even more off course I'm very open to them
cheers
B
Normally i would say hyperdroid but that thread has been closed try checkrom or even in the android development there is loads of roms there to try out my friend.
Foxhound seems another good bet to though.

Start with the Better Battery Stats thread and particularly partial wakelocks .
DO not flash roms that's not the problem its stuff using the phone during sleep .
Upgrade once you have made some progress with the battery . stock roms from the link posted .

that is alot..no wonder your battery gets ****ed so quickly make it so you get emails every four hours than having it on push....or delete that app and use samsung email client...basically like outlook it is...great app and does not drain battery
I have an imap account set to check every hour and an exchange account without polling (manual) so polling is not the issue
I use enhanced email because this bypasses the exchange security (pin code that pops up all the time)
I had this on my desire without issues so my guess is that it's the sync for the calendar... it was disabled on my desire but on my S2 for some reason it was enabled so switched it off and I hope this sorts the battery drain issue
cheers

I've tried everythin I can think of to rectify it from different Roms to running a nuke script, also deleting and installing it but I always get the same battery drain which is quite excessive. the culprit seems to be mobi.mgeek.tunnybrowser

The stats from above are actually quite tame compared to usual. It's quite often using 45 + of my cpu and usually has a higher battery usage than the display.
Can anyone offer a fix. I don't want to delete it as i find dolphin by far the best browser and I've tried most other ones.
Of the battery you have used 33% has been used by the browser .
Battery 50% in just over an hour suggests browser on for that time and other stuff draining the battery .
Better Battery Stats thread and app is where you start .

Yes, I had same issue with Dolphin browser. Lost over 20% juice in less that half hour. Couldn't find any solution though. Just to check used Stock browser for same stuff and didn't have that much drain.
Also, it caused phone heating near camera..is it same for you?

Yes. Never really noticed it before but yeh my phone is roasting around about the camera lens.
JjEgan not really sure I understand what you mean. Are you saying something else is draining my battery? I used to have bbs and that usually identified mobi.geek.tunnybrowser as draing my battery.
I put a fully charged battery into my phone not even 2 hours ago and this is what my stats are now.
Be worth a check with BBS is what i am saying as its not a common problem reported .
Its certainly never drained my battery .
jje
Same here
if we install the Dolphin HD themes " mobi.mgeek.tunnybrowser" will be running as a background process eating up battery , otherwise you will see it as Dolphin Browser HD eating 3% of battery. I dont understand why Dolphin HD browser need to run on background even if we are not using it ?
My phone is doing exactly the same thing if I close dolphin down and use only the stock browser I have no trouble if I leave.dolphin running ie. Just hit home screen or answer a txt or call dolphin will run battery down fastest than a 2 amp charger can charge it as soon as I close dolphin usually with task manager everything is fine . For me this a new problem and it started after I installed SHOstock v1.3
get rid of dolphin..... the stock browser with lab settings on is awesome.... faster and easier to use... in my opinion
Unfortunately Dolphin is the only browser which supports xmarks and Lastpass...
I switch between PC's and phone and tablet.. would be lost without them..
Matt
No one found a solution to this problem yet?
I'm now running stock ICS 4.0.3 unrooted and still have this problem
Ensure you're not signed into any accounts, Facebook etc via Dolphin

Hi,
I had the same issue and it was solved, maybe my solution can help you.
I have Uninstaller pro installed on my galaxy sii and thanks to it, I disabled some system services (like application update, email, fotaclient, google services) because I thought they were useless.
Yesterday I unfreezed them all and now dolphin works perfectly, it never exceeds 13%, before it went up to 35%..

Hello
I've been encountering L2_hsic and a few other related wakelocks for months (even years), ever since updating my I9100T to ICS (which I did the minute custom ICS roms hit web). As some encounter a full 100% steady wakelock solved by restarting or unplugging charger in home screen or any other accidental act that seems to get rid of it for a while, the wakelocks I encountered were hundreds, thousands and even tens of thousands of short wakelocks. They come and go all the time so no quick solution helped. It's always accompanied by 'radio-interface' wakelocks and 'RILJ' partial wakelocks. The numbers reach 100+ in less than 20 minutes, and a full battery discharge (which is not more than 15-20 hours of almost no use) can reach 10000+ wakelocks (according to BBS). Needless to say battery life is just terrible.
Things I've tried and didn't work:
1. Various ROMs, Sammy/AOKP/CM based, ICS/JB based, no change (except CM10.1 nightly, will be explained later).
2. Various kernels.
3. Various modems and RILs.
4. Various settings, freezes, wipes, restarts. Tried wiping everything, formatting emmc, installing fresh clean stock with odin.
5. Turning off wifi/data, gps, google maps/latitude updates, sync etc.
6. Taking apart the phone and disconnecting the speaker module on which the callular and wifi antennas are placed.
Nothing helped, didn't even budge the numbers of the wakelocks.
The only thing that did make a change is installing CM10.1 nightly. For some reason, CM10.1 has significantly less of these wakelocks. It reaches around 1000-2000 count in a full charge cycle (which with minimal to moderate use can hold 2 days and have some battery left).
So I assumed CM did something right that got rid of these wakelocks.
I searched around and found out the l2_hsic wakelocks are generated by a kernel file "/drivers/misc/modem_if/modem_link_device_hsic.c" which is also responsible for rpm_hsic and tx_hsic wakelocks.
From there I went to CM git and with help from their IRC channel I found the source code for their version of this file:
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/andr...rivers/misc/modem_if/modem_link_device_hsic.c
Now I'm thinking that some investigation into this file and comparison between this version, stock version and GB version (GB roms didn't have this wakelock at all, everyone complaining about it said it started with ICS and didn't go away with JB) of this exact file may give us clues about what is the cause and how to solve it.
My idea was to export CM's file into a kernel that can be installed with samsung-based ROM and hope it solves the issue.
The problem is I'm not a dev, nor do I have the time to study up on programming/android developing to do all that, and am afraid that if I try to compile it by myself my lack of knowledge will result in a damaged kernel and a bricked phone. I don't even know if it's possible to just copy a file from CM's kernel into another kernel and compile it like that, it was just an idea.
I'd be happy if a talented dev here (with which XDA was blessed) would take on this project and investigate more and further into where my limited knowledge stops me from going.
Please share your thoughts here, if you have this issue then share it here to help keep the thread alive until a solution is found. If you have anything further to add, I'll be happy to hear.
Thanks and have a nice day
Hi,
I also have the same problem on stock samsung ROM (XWLSD) with SpeedMod kernel installed.
A lot of l2_hsic wakelocks and strange battery life. I've tried to change kernels, disable GoogleMaps, etc. Nothing helped.
Strange, that problem occurs not from beginning usage this ROM, but some time after (maybe 2 weeks). No strange APK was installed...
Hope to solve this issue together.

I started having this issue on the CM11 nightly. Does anyone know a fix?
You'll have to forgive me as some, if not all of this has been answered, however I'm having issues and can't find the answer. I'm fairly new to anything Android newer than gingerbread, and I'm having some recurring issues, and one new one.
Firstly, the new issue. My SD card is being mounted on boot as sdcard1, whereas in the past, it was mounted as sdcard0 when inserted. I've gathered that there were changes made with how kit-kat handles SD card storage, so if this is what that is, I'd like to know how to fix it, please.
Secondly, I've had 3 phones now running 4.0 or newer (AT&T avail 2 -z992 if memory serves, and net10 zte whirl 2 -z667g, then this phone) and I'd had what I thought was an issue with the zte phones Wi-Fi turning itself on, but this one's doing it too, in exactly the same way. So I'm thinking it's Android related perhaps. Specifically what happens is that the Wi-Fi turns itself on shortly after I turn it off, and if I turn it off too many times, or if it stays disconnected long enough, it does stay off, but glitches in a state of trying to turn on, and the only way I can turn it back on is by rebooting. The attached screenshot

shows that I've got all options that could be problematic unchecked (so far as I know) but the behaviour persists. If anyone could offer me any insight, or assistance, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

For as long as I have owned this phone I have never come across the problem you are experiencing. Many would probably say "check all your apps and make sure they are not causing the problem." In a lot of cases apps can make weird things happen especially when the phone becomes rooted. Since it has happened with your previous phones, and you download the same or similar apps, an app could be the culprit. A couple questions...
1. Does this problem occur after a factory restore without root with no other apps installed other then stock?
2. Does this problem happen when rooted with no other apps installed other then stock?
Answer those two questions and then work from there.

First, yes, it does after factory reset, and no other apps installed, as this was the first thing I attempted after first encountering the issue.
Second, I knew of no way to unroot the first phone on which this occurred, and the second phone had no permanent root available.

I've done some research about the Wi-Fi issue, and I've seen quite a number of posts of other people having the exact same issues with several other phones, Samsung being the most common I've seen. In almost all of these instances people have suggested changing settings in "connection optimization" however I've found no such animal in the settings menus of any of my devices. I'm wondering if there's something I may be missing going under a different name within my settings menus. I attempted to diagnose by turning off the battery saver, and rebooting, with Wi-Fi off. Approximately 1 minute after boot, Wi-Fi turned itself on.
