Hello i bought a Flytouch 5, I'm wondering what people know about this tablet.
And also i like to learn here if it's possible to change the Android version to one that are around here.
I'm not really happy with the pre installation that came from the manufacturer. It works but i know it can be better.
I would be really happy with any info what is out there about this tablet.

Hi, I have the same one since a week ago. Unfortunatelly I updated it with another Android OS and now I don't have WIFI. May I ask you if you are still on the original firmware to send me the file wpa_supplicant.config? Or if you have the original ROM it will the best way if you can send me the link to download it. Thanks.

Thank you for your answer! Is your device rooted? Because only if it's rooted you can go to the folder where the file is. Or maybe you have the ROM? That will be the best way if you have the ROM to send it to me. Or to ask your reseller to send it to you? By the way where did you buy it from? That might help me to obtain the original firmware.
Thanks

How is the folder named? Let me look in to that first, i don't think the site allows direct company names that sell this product.
I'm surprised about the low info here on this tablet.
Maybe new info i found will help, it's also known as superpad.
And I'm sure it's no fake. Google it. I will not advertise here.
Still need some good info and answers.
Send from my Flytouch 5. (Mercury)
I bought one of these chunks of crap, it ran for 24 hrs now it won't boot it had newer yospad firmware but I can't remember the exact build cause it won't boot now. What I need to know is how to do a hardware reset, not the little reset button it just restarts it or another yospad rom.
Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

Who the hell gives names to this devices .. ? Flytouch 5 ? zomg!
this is the ONLY company that has the Infotmic SoC available for implementing into tablets:
http://www.shuoying.com/global/index.asp
http://www.shuoying.com/global/Product.asp?/3.html (tablet page)
I Know that, cause I personally visited the head of Infotmic SoC design (Shenzhen) and ShuoYing CEO, also in Shenzhen (Infotmic HQ is from Shanghai)
If there is any other tablet with "Flytouch" design, then they are tempered from the original tablet made by Shuoying, or they are so wild that it is really a mystery of it's origin.
My guess is that those are regular FT2 (since all have the same CPU) tweaked by some wild chinese people, Kernel and OS, and RAM/ROM
not to all - dont buy tablets from companies that dont show up in 1-2 hours search. You'll end up with tablet that someone assembled by hand and a screwdriver, and most probably extremely bad OS.
flashing rom on yospad
Use only Z4 to root the yospad. Can someone leave link for fw flash for yospad

I think your completely right there.
I use it for a remote control know.
Thanks for the input btw.
Digital Zoro - im sorry for your failed tablet device.
On the other hand - I find the FT2 design to be the best tablet design ever. it obviously lacks the fine finish, and better materials, but - 10 inch wide tablet, with every god damn port there is - pure win.
I saw the "actual" FT3 in Infotmic Shenzhen, and it looks awesome - capacitive screen, ARM Cortex A8 based infotmic SoC (about time dudes, you are sooo late) .. dont know why isnt out yet, cause all those named "FT3" dont have same specs as the one I saw.

My Flytouch 5
The design is not really bad and i like that it has the rj-45 port.
The screen I find bad. No multitouch and slow reaction when touched.
Its thick and heavy to hold.
Flytouch 5 should have GPS build in, but it doesn't.
The Flytouch 2 3 4 5 are all the same design. On one moment it lost the second mini sd slot.
Is this only with the fake ones?
No, they are all faulty. the forementioned Shuoying company makes crapy tablets
I took for bussines 30 units the first time around, and I still have 6 broken units. others had flaws, mostly of how they are assembled - everything is sticking out, and such. USB/SD slots die more often than you could imagine.
buttons are the biggest problem - they are not glued in & soldered - they are JUST soldered. so the only thing that holds them into place is Tin (Sn) and we all know how that is firm and solid
oh, there is also a screen problem - there are 3 types of ZIF wire-to-board connector types for the screen, so if you ever need a screen replacement - dont even think about it.
the best assembled chinese tablet is from a company Utopia, in my expirience. you can find them by the name "imx515" A8 or A10 tablet. it turns out that solutions for assemble is better than most of the branded companies.
Greetings everyone!
Last night I saw on HSN a new Android 21.5 inch Tablet/Monitor with a wireless keyboard mouse running Android 4.0.
First of all I wanted to know if anyone else has seen or purchased one. I searched for the device and I found a couple of YouTube videos showing the devices at tech shows and another one showing a ViewSonic version that was the same as the Acer device. Looks very cool (what I could see of it).
Second, I wanted to know if anyone has one and could give some first hand info about it. Like if it is rooted, can it be upgraded to Jelly Bean, etc.
Any info would be great! Especially if anyone has one and already hacked it!
I was thinking about getting one. Oh and I do know that it can be used as an HDMI monitor with touch screen capabilities (Windows 8 is what one video stated).
Thanks! And if I do get one before anyone replies, I will give the low down! :fingers-crossed:
Picked one an Acer in trade, quick check online shows availability at the box store for ~$400. Haven't had much time to play, but my initial impressions are positive.
Colors are bright and viewable at any angle.
Speakers are passable and a headphone jack provides options.
2 USB ports, need 1 for KB & mouse
MicroSD slot, unknown capability but works with my 8gb sandisk
Sometimes feels slightly underpowered, especially if using lwp- not a major complaint.
Chrome & Netflix work fine, so it meets 90% of my needs. Cannot currently install Facebook native app
It does do HDMI in, but not sure about output of touch for windows 8. I'm not saying no, but haven't looked in to it and doubtful.
There seems to be very little info on these things. I did take a quick few stabs at rooting with little success.
Can report:
Was able to install stock Google drivers for adb and bootloader
Could connect to adb and push files unable to run psneuter. Can't remember error but seemed to indicate locked bootloader
Only one physical button, so no "pwr+volume up" type stuff
Able to reboot to bootloader via adb
No display in bootloader whatsoever
Fastboot OEM unlock does not seem to work
Can reboot via fasboot reboot

Fun Gadget with promising Features and a few downfalls.
I got one of these Acer DA220HQL Smart Displays a couple of days ago. I figured I will share my experience so far.
Hardware:
The Screen is well viewable from different angles and it stands solid no matter at what tilt you set it to. You do have to use two hands to tilt it up or downward. The one Button it has is solid. USB Ports are on the right side. HDMI/Micro SD/Power/Ethernet in the back. No VGA or DVI Ports. Mini USB for Touchscreen Support under Windows and Audio Jack are located on the left side. Along the bottom are the Speakers which are loud enough but not spectacular. The swirly silver Cover over the Speakers is in my opinion not exactly beautiful and would have been nicer in black. But that is just an unimportant detail which might not even bother you. There are two holes behind the cover above the Power Button not sure for what that is.
Android:
The Display is running with the newest Update Android 4.0.4 Kernel-Version: 3.0.21-00003-OMAP-Android+ [email protected]#1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Mar 21 15:41:01 CST 2013
Pros: Runs smooth with great Touch Support under Android. Acer delivers a Quick Access Soft button add-on to Access Volume / Settings / Favorites etc. fully customizable. Logged in with my Accounts and was able to install all Tablet Versions of my Apps. I choose Apex Launcher Pro as my Default Launcher and restored successfully my Backup from my Paranoid Galaxy Note all Apex Settings. Android continues to run in the Background. Meaning you can start a download and Switch over to Windows 8 until it is done. With the Display connected via USB to Windows you get Access to the Storage Spaces of the Display to copy things to and from the Display.
Cons: Speakers do not continue to play when switching to Windows/HDMI. Switching between Android and Windows could be faster.
Windows 8:
When connecting the Display via HDMI and USB for Touch Support you get a two Finger Touch Display for Windows. You can Switch between Android and Windows 8 by staying on the On/Off Button for a while until the Onscreen Display (OSD) appears. Under Android you get an Icon to Switch faster.
Pros: Solid Stand for Touch Operation, 1920x1200 Resolution, One and Two Finger Touch support works good in Windows 8 for Primary Display.
Cons: Only two finger Touch Support which means in some apps limited Multitouch Support (Bing Maps 3D etc.), For Gaming I recommend a Gamepad like the idroid:con - Bluetooth Android controller since the two finger Touchdisplay does not react if more than two fingers touch the display. Works in combination with a Multidisplay System (I am currently using 6 Displays inkl. the SmartDisplay) but the Acer DA220HQL can only be used as the Primary Display with Touch Support. Without Touch support or in Mirror mode it will work fine.
Would I recommend this display?
Yes and No. Yes because it is a cool gadget from Acer and is a cheap way to have a Touchscreen for your Computer with added bonus. No because Acers gadget are not always fully up to par (instead of two finger it should have 10 finger support). In the long run that will become a Problem. I owned over the years a couple of those oddities like an Acer C300 Tablet / Acer Iconia DualTouch Screen / and now this Acer Smart Display. They all had their share of problems and I assume over time this will not be different.
Would I buy another?
Yes, for my Grandma since it is perfect for a Skype Station with the Built in Camera. I would love to use Paranoid Android on this Display to adjust DPI Settings and switch to Phone mode but for my Grandma it would work out nicely as it is.
PS: It seems the Viewsonic 220VSD 21.5" Smart Display and the Acer DA220HQL 21.5" Smart Display is the same Hardware just a little different Software.
Nice Setup you got there swiss :good:
Finally Got One
Well we finally got ours from HSN. Wasn't too happy with the delays, but that is HSN (long story short they sent a unit that was defective from some one else's return).
It booted up pretty quick. As soon as I got on to our WiFi, the setup was fast and easy. I got a BIG kick out of using the on screen keyboard (pun intended)
So far it performs very well. I would love to have Jelly Bean. I really got used to the Jelly Bean experience. But that is ok. Netflix was pre-installed and has a nice sharp picture.
Missing root. Anyone have any ideas? I haven't installed HP ePrint yet (the Play Store states that this device is NOT compatible with). I will side load it to see if it works. I will put it through it's paces. I think Google Cloud print works already.
I have alot of things to check out. I just un-boxed this and wanted to give a shout about how it is going.
Oh one plus about this system is (and I am not sure if it is Acer's software or the hardware) the wireless keyboard works GREAT! Unlike other tablets when you attach either a USB wireless or Bluetooth keyboard, this works without having to install a Null Keyboard app. When I unplug the keyboard, the on screen one pops up when it needs to. When you plug the USB back in the on screen keyboard goes away without any user intervention. The only downside is that spelling correction does not work when you long press a mis-spelled word.
So anyway I will be trying things out and report here anything new or different.
And thank you for the info from you other users. My wife and I are going to use this to replace our aging and almost not even useful G4 iMac.
Again if anyone has any updates or wants to share their experiences, I thank you in advance!
I got this unit as well. As a monitor it works well too bad the speakers don't work for windows.
Not too happy with the android part though.
I don't know if the 4.0.4 version is causing this, but there's plenty of apps I can't install from the play store, including Chrome (I downloaded an apk, but that version crashes a lot).
I got in contact with Acer (nl) today and he told me there are no plans for 4.1/4.2 at this time.
Told him to escalate my request and I will be contacted by the product manager next week.
I'll keep you posted!

Yeah found that too but unfortunately the Information Acer provides is not exactly correct. For Example they state a Maximum Resolution of 1920x1080. Luckely mine has 1920x1200 which is a important fact.
It is the cheapest Touchscreen I have found so far. In Switzerland they sell for 389 Swiss Francs which is currently 415 US Dollars. The cheapest Full HD Touchscreen I found starts at 499.-
Got the update and Google Play 4.1.6

I got the update pretty soon after getting it set up. I rebooted because I thought there was a crash problem with Google Play, but it turned out that the Play Store updated to 4.1.6 from 4.0.25. Good and bad I guess. I cannot verify it, but it seems that the OS Update may have caused the Play Store to show "Incompatible with your device" on a lot of apps. Not that this is relevant to this post, but we also got a new HP 5520 AIO printer so that we could use it with this (and our other Android) devices. I was sad to see that when I searched for HP ePrint app, I found it only for it to say it is incompatible. I thought "What the hell! HSN was showing that it was easily compatible!" Fortunately on my phone, I have an auto backup on install app (File Expert) and have a copy on my phone which I dump onto my network drive. So I used ES File Explorer to look at my network drive and installed it from there with no hitch at all! I have done this with other apps and they all work fine except some start up in Portrait mode with the screen being sideways on the DA220! We also have a Rikomagic MK802IIIS on our 40" HDTV and I do not have this problem at all!
Now if they put a swivel on the back to allow you to switch it to portrait mode, that would be COOL! (I'll try posting a pic! :fingers-crossed
I think it must have to do with the prop file. But I am just slightly able to understand some of the system level stuff.
I hope some XDA Genius can find a way to root this baby and maybe even a Jelly Bean Rom! LOL  :fingers-crossed:
Some apps work great even with the 2 point touch screen. Fruit Ninja is a blast on a BIG screen! LOL Some do not work like Stupid Zombies 2.
I have mixed feelings about some of the things. I really am hoping for a Root solution. I miss my AdAway app!
Hope this helps! I will keep updating here with new info when I find it!
so did anyone get this unit with a wireless keyboard and mouse IN the package?
if so, could you take a picture of the keyboard and mouse and post it here?
thanks!

Also I have a Snakebyte idroid:con Bluetooth Android Controller. > http://www.snakebyte-europe.com/en/container-produkte/products/android/idroidcon/ (so far no Modus I tried works with NFS)
Flipboard is a nice Software for the Display. Worth checking out. To check on the Kids or check on the House I recomend IPCam Viewer. For TV, Slingplayer with a Slingbox.
i got an email from acer (nl) yesterday, the guy i chatted with on friday escalated my question about a 4.1/4.2 update to the product manager.
same answer: there is nothing planned
replied to him this device really needs an update because too many apps cant be installed, i downloaded Chrome through apk but it keeps crashing on me.
also, the usb function (to hook it up to the pc) isnt working correctly, as soon as you switch to the monitor side of it, the tablet part becomes unreachable through usb
told him i was very disappointed by their answer and asked him to, if possible, escalate even higher into the organization
will let you know what their next answer is

Chrome seems to be preinstalled on mine and works fine. But you are right a Update would be great and we probably should all ask them for a Update. The switching is unfortunate but since I have multiple Monitors I can Keep it on Android and still use the rest of the Monitors on Windows 8 to connect to Android.
That said I did find that the Monitor is best used as a Android Standalone device in the Kitchen or something like that. You might decide to connect your Windows 8 Notebook from time to time but thats about it. As a Standalone device it is great because of the size. I went ahead and installed one for my Grandma. She is 86 years old and never used a Computer before. She is now able to call the Familie with Skype and even get lost in Flipbook. She basically just clicks all over the place and reads what she finds. But the important part is she knows how to get back to Skype. The Home Button is big enough and the Skype Icon on the Desktop also.
odd that you have Chrome pre-installed, could you please check what version you have installed?
or even better, post the .apk here?
i dont have room to use it standalone and love that it is also a monitor
its almost perfect, just the android version is holding it back
got the keyboard/mouse today, works perfectly, would be nice if i could change the functionality of the mouse buttons tho, cant find anuthing?
I got one too in taiwan few days ago.
I found that it's so annoying and terrible way to adjust the sound volume while watching movies, such as ones from YouTube. Also, no way to root it so far seems to be a big problem for me. I really wanna install a firewall APP to make it safer. So, can anyone please kindly post a way to root this thing? thanks in advance.

Yes I got the Acer wireless keyboard and mouse in the box with mine. I got ours from HSN. My wife wants to ship it back to them because it is limited on Google Play. I am trying to figure out how to root it and hopefully fix that. Anyone tried downloading apps that the play store indicates is not compatible and run them anyway? I have some work great! Others work but are displayed in portrait mode. That would be ok if there was an easy way to tilt the display on its side!
Still looking to see if anyone has rooted this thing. We may just send it back. But I am hoping for new info soon! :fingers-crossed:

So far None of us seem to be able to do so. Hopefully either Acer gets an Update together or we can find someone with enough knowledge to root it. UAE4Droid / Amiga Games run great and are fun for inbetween.
so i sent in a list of apps that arent working on this devicce. they mailed me back that they would test these apps.
today i got another email....
translation:
"unfortunately, it seems that indeed a numbers of apps do not work with this device. the answer however remains the same: there is no update planned"
and now the worst part:
"this is because the purpose of this device is not to support every application thats made available for it"
HUH????
i sent a message back, telling them i was greatly disappointed and that they should make the source for the da220hql available.
not that i see that happen...
@LoveMyAndroid2010: could you please post a photo of that keyboard/mouse?

This tablet has a 'T' icon on the lower left corner of the screen. I have no knowledge of Android but would it be possible to install a 'clean' version of Android to remove the Tesco link? If so, would it still recognise the GPS which is the primary reason for wanting this tablet ?
TIA Paul
Just bought one myself. Had a few HTC phones, tinkered with my first windows ROM (old version) with xda guides so have come looking for a guide to rooting. But not much when searching for hudl so my guess is to start there.
Sent from my Hudl HT7S3 using xda app-developers app
Modaco has a bit of activity in relation to these (including rooting guides) - have a look over there

THanks Rob, I did find a link somewhere and managed to re-flash the tablet eventually, I think I got a bit confused over the instructions, but someone sorted me out.
Thank you for the info.

Hi,
In case anyone is looking for clear instructions on how to overcome the problem after a factory reset of the Tesco Hudl 1 & 2 you will find them here (works for Hudl 2 as well). Use a date between 27 June 2019 and 26 June 2020 :

This was announced about a month ago (Feb 2015) and it looks like it should be a really decent tablet with keyboard dock; apparently it'll have an Atom CPU, only the Windows version gets a core-M CPU ;-(
I've not seen any official date when it'll be available, other than "Spring", and an unofficial price of US$350 with keyboard. The "reviews" say it will be available with 1280x800 display and 1080p as an option, though I suspect it'll only be the windows version which will have a 1080p option. Maybe too there will be a version with 4G/LTE.
In some ways it sounds very much like the Asus Transformer TF303CL, which is sadly not available in the UK, it costs about US$380
If anyone has any concrete information to share, please post it, as I am ready to throw some money at a nice tablet + dock system
thanks!
Still no concrete news as to the launch date.
I am also worried that the Venue 10 pro with Windows will be a much better spec and the Android version slightly crippled ;-(

I think that the "LTE" in the GPS and proximity specs seem to be an error, as the spec specifically says no mobile broadband.
The spec doesn't say what the battery is, chances are same as the Windows tablet, a 2-cell 32WHr Battery
sadly, still no sign of it being on sale

A new cheap China tablet: "Voyo Q101 4G" a.k.a. "Teclast 98" 2GB/32GB octa w/ LTE
So far I have not found any related discussions or suggestions for this rather new and very cheap tablet.
Mine is still in the mail, but I am curious how to 'open' it up, i.e. getting root functionality and maybe some other needed modifications to make it really useful?
The spec sheets for both the Teclast 98 and the Voyo Q101 4G are identical, apparently they use identical hardware (MT6753, Mali-T720, 2/32GB) and also the same stock Android 6.0 image?
On paper the specifications and functions look very appealing, and its street price of less than $100 (88Euro) will probably stir up the low end market quite a bit.
There may be even more clones with different names, does anybody know about these? It may help to compile generic information, applicable to all of these identical devices.
Has anybody started tinkering with this new 'phablet'? There seem to be issues with its phone functionality, with the recognition of 64GB memory cards, no root success messages so far, etc.
Which rooting method will work and prevent 'bricking' such a device? What else could be flashed or installed on it?
Thanks for any ideas and thoughts!
A comparing data sheet of these tablets (either model, Voyo or Teclast) I found here:
https://www.kimovil.com/de/compare-tablets/teclast-98-2gb-32gb,voyo-q101
Hello
I bought a Voyo Q101 and should have been delivered by this week.
I bought it because they speak it well, it has a very low price and the 64 bit MTK6752 processor has good features and can play with it.
I will still try to study the competing model Teclast 98 because it probably has the same identical hardware and maybe even the scatter + ROMs are the same.
I hope it is not difficult but I would like to have the following things available:
- ROM original (backup)
- ROOT
- TWRP working for this device.
I wrote to Voyo asking if he could upload the tablet's firmware to http://en.myvoyo.com/ so you could have at least the scatter.txt to create a custom TWRP and at least be able to create a backup yourself SP FlashTools.
It is not easy to do these things but try it does not cost anything.
Then it will not be difficult to do the Root, always through TWRP.
I hope someone will join this thread so that they can work together.
So we are two already!
I also contacted Voyo in this matter, and am considering to approach Teclast as well. As far as I know these two devices ARE absolutely identical. Both could benefit from community driven tools, improvements and fixes.
The interesting is, why the divice is not in Voyo site?
Anyway, does anyone know if it can accept an SD card as internal memory? I read about a problem in which it does not use 32GB as storage storage apps, only a small part. Does anyone know anything about this?

Here is the link to the Voyo website and spec sheet of the Q101; interestingly they mention a slightly larger 5Ah battery, while it usually is advertised with 4900mAh.
http://en.myvoyo.com/chanpin/pingban/811.shtml
Isnt't the SD card issue (moving apps and/or data to the external memory) an Android 6.0 issue in general?
I am using Link2SD on my four rooted devices with older Android revisions (2.3, 4, 5), also an extra SDEext partition.
I definitely want and need a similar method for this phablet.
For the sake of compiling all available international information about the "Q101 4G"/"TecLast Tpad 98 4G" I dug up two threads in other (Ru, I) forums:
http://www.androidiani.com/forum/tu...ad-ufficiale-voyo-q101-4g-phablet-10-1-a.html
http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=826767&st=0
My Russian (as Google's) is rusty, it is not easy to read these threads..
According to one source TWRP and Kingroot may work to open it up.
TecLast has apparently released its image, but I cannot locate it?
It would be nice if anyone could confirm that indeed these two phablets from Voyo and Teclast ARE absolutely identical.
It would certainly simplify their maintenance and control.
WOW BOYS !!!!
We are in many users !!!
Unfortunately, for the moment, the ROMs are not available on Voyo's website and Teclast's website.
We hope they provide fast.
By comparing the firmware we may be able to know if they are exactly the same.
Let's try to take a step at a time.
A) find the devices ROM
B) Create a TWRP to install at least ROOT permissions .... even if I think I can install them through ADB commands.
C) Installing an AD Block (for me very important)
I would also like to know that OTA updates will be released because in this case we will not be able to change the recovery, at least until the ROM is stable.
PS: I think someone should open an official thread on XDA because it is right to do so.
However, we are trying to understand whether the two tablets are the same.
Yes, I do agree that a 'formal' topic should be created, for EACH of the two devices, because:
I did find out that they apparently are NOT identical as the link https://www.kimovil.com/de/compare-t...32gb,voyo-q101 indicated; their specs are simply wrong!
The russian site http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=832099 has a neat selection of infos about the Voyo Q101 4G, but is hard to read. We need a similar ENGLISH version to help each other out.
The "Voyo Q101 4G" is also sold as the "Voyo i8" (Asian market?); there was another "Q101" model sold by Voyo years ago, with entirely different hardware and a smaller 9.7in screen. Very confusing marketing...
As to the differences between Voyo Q101 4G and Teclast Tpad 98 I did find out:
dimensions really are:
Teclast TPad 98 - - - 238 x 170 x 9.89 mm
VOYO Q101 4G - - - 242 x 172 x 9,0 mm
Different GSM/LTE bands (unverified):
Voyo:
2G: GSM 850/900/1800/1900MHz,
3G: WCDMA 850/900/1900 / 2100MHz, Band 1 / 2/5/8
4G: LTE FDD-1800/2100 / 2600MHz, Band 1/2/3/4 / 5/7/8/17/20 , LTE-TDD - Band 38/39/40/41
TecLast:
2G: GSM 900/1800 MHz,
3G: WCDMA - 2100MHz, die TD-SCDMA - Band 34/39
4G: FDD-LTE 1800/2100 MHz, Band 1/3, TDD-LTE Band 38/39/40
Someone seems to have flashed the Voyo with the Teclast image and lost the camera flashlight function?
The Teclast Tpad 98 image looks like this:
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=817550096634772747
So we really should be careful about mixing the similar but apparently not identical devices up.
If someone speaks RUSSIAN it would be helpful to translate the useful info and instructions found at
http://4pda.ru/forum/index.php?showtopic=832099, also their pool of firmware and tools around the rooting/flashing etc. They seem to be far ahead with this thinh, while I am still waiting to receive my own unit.
Where will the 'official' support topics for the Voyo Q101 4G and the Teclast Tpad 98 be put on this XDA site?
I am not really a wiz, not too active, more a curious user with some urge to tinker a bit and squeeze the most out of this interesting and feature loaded phablet, a real steal at $99!
Thanks!
Be carefull. Teclast 98 and Teclast T98 are different models. The VOYO Q101 is the same with Teclast 98.

According to Teclast's website there is only a 'Teclast 98 (octacore)' on the market these days:
http://www.teclast.com/en/tablet.html
It uses the MT6753.
But is still NOT identical to the Voyo Q101 4G as outlined above (dimensions, mobile bands, firmware).
I do find a variety of older offers for a 'T98', with varying CPU and Android versions (MT8752T,MT8735P. Android 4.4, 5.1,.). They of course are entirely different beasts than the actual '98'-
Voyo shows their 10.1in MT6753 model now as 'Q101' (without mentioning "4G" in the model name):
http://en.myvoyo.com/chanpin/pingban/811.shtml
And the same model again as "i8" when using the Chinese site:
http://www.myvoyo.com/chanpin/pingbandiannao/872.html
An earlier version of "Voyo Q101" was offered years ago, using 1GB/16GB and a MT6582, with Android 5.1 It disappeared from Voyo's website. Again an entirely different beast.
It is the actual MT6753/10.1in/Android 6.0 version that is the core of this discussion.
So I am still suggesting to create TWO official threads, like at 4pda.ru.
For each the "Voyo Q101 4G" AND possibly also the "Teclast Tpad 98" if there is an interested group of owners.
I am still expecting my Voyo; currently I am simply trying to prep myself, collecting tools and infos, so I can at least root it, my main desire.
Thanks!
I've had one of these for a few weeks now. Purchased from GB. Works and just fine although I haven't tried a sim card in it but has one major issue. If I let the battery run down the tablet will suddenly switch off and after that it won't accept any charge or turn back on. I think it's either the battery voltage sensing hardware or the firmware. For such a cheap device I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of sending it back so I voided the warranty by opening it up and used my lab power supply to recharge the battery which was initially reading 2.95 volts. When it had charged to 3.7V I put the tablet back together and it worked fine again. This has happened twice now (both times when another family member was using it).
Thanks for the heads up on the bad voltage sensor issue!
On all my mobile devices I am using a floating battery voltage widget (Resource Monitor Mini Pro), that tells the current voltage. It is way more precise than the estimated percentage display by Android. I found that these % readings vary with each restart/recharge, will hang at some values and then suddendly dive to zero.
I am now reacting to voltage readings only, and recharge my devices as soon as they drop below 3,55V, a full charge usually tops off around 4.15V.
Makes me wonder how long the Q101 will run on a full 'usable' charge in the modes:
- Display on
- +WLAN on
- +GPS on
?
Looks like there is very little interest at XDA regarding this Voyo tablet, a real pity.
I will now try to join the 4PDA forum at Russia, as they have a very active and knowledgable group of i8/Q101 4G owners.
Reading technical instructions in "Russian-English" was not my goal, but apparently I am forced to go down that route.
Should XDA ever decide to formally support the Voyo Q101 4G/i8 (aka Teclast Tpad 98), please let me know - thanks!
Anyything new? i also own a q101 and would look Forward exploring that a custom Rom works...
Mine arrived two days ago.
First impressions:
- heavy, probably due to the battery; it drains at 0.3%/hr idle over night, 12%/hr in full use; not too bad if one keeps the display dimmed.
- all advertised functions work, incl. phone, GPS, WLAN, BT, FM radio, cameras
- a magnetic sensor is reported, but not really 'there', shows fixed values
- the display is OK, speed as well, the two speakers are tinny
- there seems to be a screen protector installed already. I will leave it on for now, until I find a source for good MATTE protectors that fit this 10" display.
- my Sandisk 32GB UHC memory card was accepted, a new 64GB card is on its way
- it may report a new MAC address with each WLAN connect, not confirmed yet
The lack of sensors is the biggest disappointment so far, it will limit its functionality (astronomy, navigation etc) a lot.
I tried to sign up at the Russian pda site, but am failing the numeric captcha test so far, bummer. I started learning Russian numbering now, so I can pass the test!
They DO have neat tools, I even found a first image "2017-06-28--00-39-41_Q101_V01" there, but am not sure what to do with it? Reading the auto-translated instructions destroys a lot of the valuable information.
Are TWRP files always 'customized'? Can I use the one for the Teclast Tpad 98? Apparently the Teclast has NO camera flashlight, so its FW may not be suitable for the Voyo Q101 4G (aka i8)?
Maybe it is too early and new interested Q101 4G/i8 owners will pop up here soon?
So far I am collecting all infos, files, tools etc to prep myself.
My sole intention is to have a rooted tablet; I am not so much into customization as long as it is not necessary due to bugs in the original FW.
Anyone?!

I have mine for 1 or 2 weeks now, it came with scratches on screen. So a little bit disapointing but all in all it is OK.
First of all I rooted it with KingRoot, worked fine but with little bit of ads. So I used Lucky Patcher and Ads are gone.
On the Voyo Q101 it shows Android 6.0 but that is not true. It is Android SDK version 22 and that is Android 5.
So I really hope for a new custom rom with Android 6.
Scratches: have you tried removing the (soft) screen cover? IMHO there IS a protection film over the entire front surface.
Root: you only used the KingRoot tool, no other preparations like TWRP (is this needed?)?
I read elsewhere about the Android 5/6 issue, cannot really tell so far. Most 6.0 features would not apply, but the tool for app permissions and battery dozing.
Just found out that the original 2A charger died after using it once: it now delivers 4.7V and 200-400mA only, nice..
My luck, as usual.

The scratches were under the screen protection, so I thought there would be a second one.
Now I know that this was the screen itself, it is also just plastic. So I ordered a case, that no one can see the edges where I tried with a swiss knife the get down the "second" protective film.
Yes, Kingroot worked for me. No TWRP, I dont have it.
When I got the tablet I tried out the stock recovery but there are only chinese signs. I had luck not to damage anything there.
Screen on time could be a bit better, I get about 5 hours on 2 days. Only surfing and small apps, no gaming.
The display is known to be easily scratched, I am currently looking for 10.1" protection films that will fit and have a MATTE surface. For now I will stick (pun!) to the one they installed at the factory.
KINGROOT does indeed work and roots the device, good idea! But in an odd way, at least for me:
- all attempts to install the APK version failed, despite accepting warnings and allowing for 3rd party apps it would simply end the installation process with 'not installed'
- using the Windows method the tool ran for over 10min, with slowly crawling percentage points, ending with a 'failed' message
- when looking into the device I DID find both Kingroot and Purify installed! Root checking still reported a failure, but a run of the Kingroot app eventually reported success!
For now I will stick to the Kingroot approach, but would prefer the SuperSU method. I did find a SuperSU-Me tool that apparently will replace KR by SU. Not sure if I should take the risk?
The device DOES alter its MAC address at each WLAN connection. I HATE this, as it clutters my router's network item list and prevents me from using dedicated network device names.
This is not the first Android device that messes my router up.
I could fix the same issue on a smartphone (NEO N003) years ago. But never succeeded in fixing it on a smartphone watch (AN1).
Does anyone know how to force this MAC address to stay constant under Android '6' (aka API 22 which indeed is '5')?
I am adding a series of screen shots demonstrating the device's design (HW and SW), for those interested in working on it. Hopefully more owners and users will share their experience and findings, to keep this thread alive.
Thanks!

I bought this and facing following two problem.
