Just Rooted my GS4 Verizon. I noticed that some of advantages for rooting your phone are themes. I can already do themes without root. What do themes do with root access? What are some good ones if there are any that take advantage of a Rooted phone.

Big difference between launcher themes (icons) and a system theme which can change the framework, systemui, apps, etc. As far as what themes to use...well, you are rather limited while running Touchwiz. You can try the Xposed Framework + HK Theme Manager + CM10/11 themes though with how TW is, this usually is an incomplete process. Check out the Play Store for CM11 themes to get a better idea of the differences between a complete theme and a launcher/icon theme.

Ok so I am a complete noob and just started getting into using my phones complete capabilities. So that being said I have managed to root my thunderbolt and want to find/download/apply and xbox 360 theme. Is there anything special i need to do such as anything in bootloader before i can download and apply a new theme?
The theme has to be compatible with your launcher. If you're still running Sense, you need a "skin", not a theme.
i would say try adw launcher and the xbox theme from the market. *Note* you dont need to be rooted to do this*
Most, if not all, themes are launcher specific as stated before. Launchers like ADW you just download the theme, open the settings for your launcher and find the themes area. Apply your theme and reboot.
Welcome. Looking for a universal theme to upload changing icons and overall appearance. I tried omega Theme with S4 but does not work

I just use wanam and xposed module...With wanam you can build practically any theme you want and is extremely easy to use. I always include it in my rom builds...I have one out for the i9205 and a v2 posting tomorrow in the dev forum for the mega. or just download xposed module from xda and wanam from the play store. Has tons of features with themes just being one of the many. As a dev wanam has been by far the easiest solution as it allows the user to make their own theme vs settling for whatever the rom creator wanted. so between wanam exposed and the already mentioned nova or apex launchers there is a nearly unlimited amount of mods to create any theme you want. below is a pic of a theme I built literally in 5 mins on a test build of my upcoming rom update...5 mins and 2 soft reboots...

if your'e not planning on rooting and installing custom roms, then you can use a third party launcher from the play store. and you can download icon packs and themes for the launcher. But if you are rooted and not planning about custom roms, you can install xposed framework.what it does is change some stuff for you..the best module for stock sammy roms is wanam xposed bacause you can able to change the battery icons and notification background etc.
I have a phone running stock android 4.1.1 and I want it to look like any other (xperia, touchwiz, sense etc.) but I can't find what's needed I really want the status bar to look the same aswell as the launcher and stock apps, I can't use a rom.

Your best bet would be rooting, using the Xposed Framework and something like the HK Theme Manager or Xtheme Engine to make significant changes to the look of the system. These tools work well on most devices, but it can be hard to theme stock HTC roms as they have a very different theming structure vs most devices and generic theming tools can only go so far. Other than that, best you could do without a rom (or root) would be a different launcher that either hides the status bar or comes with it's own (have only seen an iPhone looking launcher with that function) or hide the status bar and figure out how to make something like Zooper Widget to help create your own little section at the top for the clock and battery status - though this stuff would only work on the home screen.
If you REALLY want to change stuff, the best option is a rom and there's really not much getting around it without compromises.
Well, hi! After some months in which i've done a lot of things to my stock rom (or testing other custom roms without enough satisfaction), i've decided to build my own, using the official samsung base. The thing is, i wanted it as something special and personal for me and my friend, we don't pretend to distribute it we just want it to be fast, reliable, debloat a bit, extend with xposed and mainly, to THEME it if possible.
We like stock because of all the samsung features but we miss the possibility to switch between themes as in CM and MIUI, so i wanted to know...
There is some modded systemui, framework-res, phone, settings, etc i can use to replace the stock ones? If so, would those new apk be able to show the interface themed elements CORRECT when i try to apply a theme using Xtheme Engine?
I've already tried Xtheme engine in our actual state and it just changes some icons in the app drawer and some icons in the notification bar..., the appearence of the expanded notification panel, Settings and background elements visible for example...in Root Explorer..., remain the same, but want the system apps to be able to accept xtheme engine, because that would be really handy instead of modding those apks each time we want a new look
And by the way, ehm, i also wanted to know...where is "lockscreen" located? it is part of systemui?
Well, thanks a lot in advance!:fingers-crossed:
I've switched over to cloudy g3. Was wondering if there's anyway to install cm 12.1 theme engine (or just the themes) on this which uses the stock launcher lg home?
I tried hktheme xposed module to no avail
Likely no, the cm theme engine, and upcoming layers, are deeply tied into the framework. Only way to get it would be on a cm or aosp rom. It isn't just an app that can be added unfortunately :/

Well, any other way to theme? Preferable on cloudy g3 stock launcher. Tried android theme engine xposed module.. But it mostly had options for just the status bar. I'm looking to theme the settings menu colors and other system ui thingies
If you want customization, AOSP is the way to go. The only thing you really give up is the stock camera, but you gain so much.
I've tried tons of roms. I really enjoy cm 12.1. I was just wanting to try out my initial settings and software and launcher that the phone came with. Guess I'll settle for stock theme for now.
Thanks a lot guys!
FYI, the default launcher on LG devices is called LG Home. You can do a search on Play Store "LG Home Theme" and you may find something to your liking that would work with a stock-based ROM.
Ah, i only tried the lgstore app, which experienced so many connection issues i couldn't get it to work. Thanks, I'll try the play store!
