Hello, I have a Sony Xperia P and I want to to unblock it and root it to install the CyanogenMod. The problem is the guide is very complicated and I cannot understand what to do.
What is the best kernel to use?
What software do I need?
Can anyone make me a short and easy guide for me to follow?
Details:
Sony Xperia P LT22i
Android Version 4.1.2
Build number 6.2.A.0.400
Thx in advance.
And "the guide" would be?
The one from this forum? Where else would I post about a guide, if not the one from here/?

No need to rage bro, I've done it. I somehow changed the bootloader allowed from NO to YES, then rooted, unlocked bootloader and install latest CM11 thanks to a couple of nice users in the other thread.
You can close this now.

I got it to work now. took me a second try.
"edit. And now i have the phone rooted. I love this forum.

Is this root persistent? I.e. is it likely that it will survive the 2.3.4 upgrade coming soon?

Here's one, works for all roms, it's the one I used, but you need to have your bootloader unlocked so you can flash kernel and custom roms
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500226
first of all thanks for the answer so quick.
but in the XROM post the user alifdroid says it isn't necessary to be bootloader unlocked. just use his kernel i supose to do this it is necessary to have the bootloader unlock right?
Now that you mention it, there's one rom wich doesn't require bootloader unlocked, but forgot the name, not sure if it's that one, lemme check
Edit:
Found this one, but i guess it's not the same you say, so idk if that one can work w/o bootlader unlocked :
Someguyfromhell said:
Bootloader can be unlocked only 2 ways. Service shops will likely ask money. Relocking is actually easier than unlocking.
There is only one ROM that doesn't require unlocked bootloader, Xperia UXP NXT.

Hello,
I've searched for a direct root for Neo V (4.0.4) but it seems that it's not available for the moment.
Do you know if it will be available one day or if Sony has corrected the hack ?

You are asking if we know if someone will discover exploit one day? Are you aware that there is no answer to that question?
Sony corrected exploits from .62, but that didn't stop someone find new one(in 4.0.3)
I would just say this, don't expect someone will go and search for new exploit, since available root is pretty easy(2,3 minutes job), so no one will bother with search.
If someone will find it it will be accidentally

In fact, I was asking in the case someone was already working on it.
So if I understand well, the exploit that allows the root in 4.0.3 has been fixed in 4.0.4 ?
Because I imagine that is not necessary to find a new exploit for each update. That could take time to Sony to fix it and they probably prefer to put resources on other stuff.

Dear Android JB community,
I have Sony Xperia Go with JB update (4.1.2) BN - 6.2.A.0.400. I have been looking for an easy method to root my phone post update.
Method 1:
Came across one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
But it proved to be not working for go in particular: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460&page=277
Method 2: http://exzacklyright.blogspot.ch/2012/07/nexus-7-guide-for-adbunlocking-rooting.html
Will this also work for Sony phones?
Would great if any one could help me with any updates to the above method or any other simple methods for a successful root...
Thanks a lot in advance
With kind regards,
INO

I am interested too.
Waiting for updates.
If u bootloader is unlocked
U can easily root
Bt I guess there are no rooting methods available for locked bootloader
There is no "easy" method but locked xgo can be rooted. This has been discussed in other posts. I'd get you a link but I'm on mobile right now.
Stock and locked xGO beans.

I was implying you'd check the rest of this area for the steps.
Easy but needs bootloader unlocked, can oc, have cwm, haven't tried it personally:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2250695
Longer method but can keep locked bootloader, no oc, no cwm. I answered someone else before:

Hi
I am on 23.0.1.A.0.167 4.4.4

How can I root 4.4.4? I dont have any recovery. Is it not possible to root 4.4.4 without recovery?
Do I need to downgrade to 4.4.2?
Yes downgrade to 4.4.2 root it and install recovery and flash a custom rom what is based on 4.4.4 !

I appreciate the guidance, but I, like the OP, would like to know if there is another way of doing this w/o having to downgrade... no need to belittle the question, after all this is a forum, where by definitions questions are expected...
BTW, anybody has found a way to root 4.4.4 w/o downgrade? Thanks!

Despite all the negative feedback you've gotten by asking your question, YES there is a way. I found it and then created a new thread with the step-by-step.
Unfortunately, it does require unlocking bootloader and a few other tradeoffs such as losing X-reality and your warranty.
