S3 has already unlocked bootloader from default. You just need to root your device, flash a recovery and flash a ROM through recovery. Easy

Hi Guys,
I hope I've posted in the right place. I am basically noob in installing custom firmware and I wanted to try it anyway with no experience.
Bootloader unlocking successful.
I flashed recovery-nozomi.img using cmd commands without realizing that I didn't have the custom rom saved in my xperia s. So I am stock in recovery mode with no idea what to do next even just to go back in normal mode. Please help I am really a newbie in installing custom ROM. Any process with be gladly appreciated since I just want to go back to normal mode if I can't install any custom ROM.
Build no.75 that's all I remember about my phone since I just bought this yesterday.
I'm in the Philippines and this a generic version if that helps.
Any help will be gladly appreciated or will even give a donation.
Thanks in advance guys!
Regards!

Hey guys I just upgraded from gingerbread to official german 4.12 jellybean
I9100XWLSD_I9100XXLS8_I9100DBTLS7_HOME.tar.md5
via odin.
The installation went fine but now the phone got sim locked and it asks for a network code. I saw a couple of Galaxy S sim unlock apps on the playstore but none of them work (except for the one which has the [root] prefix in it which I haven't tried since the phone isn't rooted). So I was wondering how can I unlock it? Thx in advance guys

afaik you need root to unlock it.
It's rooting time.
Ok but what method should I use? There seem to be so many around I'm getting kinda confused. As far as I can tell the custom kernel method seems to be the easiest way to get it right? And how do I know which kernel should I use?

Well actually it's not my phone, it's from my little brother and I upgraded it remotely with teamviewer. I've rooted my own gt-i9305 with a prerooted rom with odin so is there something like that for the s2, and if there isn't what's the easiest way to get root on the s2 and what should I do after that?

If you don't root it, you won't unlock it and well, he's not gonna be able to use it as a phone.
Flash a custom kernel or flash cwm + su + busybox

That thread is from july 2012, jb rolled out on january officially.
As the title says, I am asking whether i can use cyanogenmod installer via play store to unlock bootloader. I have stock rom and I want to install 4.4 roms and i got sick of waiting for samsung to release an update. So i am asking if I used cyanogenmod installer to unlock the device and then unroot by myself. After then can i install other custom roms just by flashing them? Is this a safe course to follow or do you suggest it would be better to follow one of the guides that shows how to install custom roms on S3 from start(stock rom)?

You can only flash stock based ROMs with a locked bootloader.
If you wanted to flash custom ROMs or kernels, you needed to buy a SIM Free, carrier free phone.
There is no way to unlock your bootloader.
thanks for the reply, i dont mind a stock based rom but i cant even get root

As title really, can't really find a definitive answer.
It was a UK Tesco handset but unlocked to all, and still running the standard Moto stock firmware.
Any help would be appreciated.
