Hi!. Today is a bad day for me My wifi sucks. Yesterday evening I could use it to video call with my friends. This morning when I turned on the wifi, it turned off after a few seconds, it could not scan the wifi at home.
I thought it's a rom issues so I flash stock KG1 but it's still turning off. I flash CF root KG1 kernel and get an error when trying to turn the wifi on and the phone hangs.
Now im on Leomar V2.4 with Luzl v12 built 25 and the wifi is still turning off, no network found
I've read alot about this issues, tried every ways, kernel but nothing changes;(
SBD, please help me
try flashing other radios

Make sure your WiFi is not using any channels above 11. If so, the stock firmware is able to briefly scan and find the wireless but not connect.
I had/have the same issue and the only way to fix was to change my wireless to use a lower channel and not auto switch channels.
Turns out this was (I believe) a limit in 2.3.3. Though I've tested on 2.3.4 (Nexus S) and this has the same issue.
I posted a similar problem else where and one person responded saying that (the leaked ) stock 2.3.4 firmware in wireless -> advanced settings has an option to set Regulatory <something> that allows all channels to be used.
Hope this helps,
I got a same issue. And, I had changed a lot of ROMs but still in this condition. Did you found the solution? Thank you very much
I get the same issue...
When i go to wifi settings and turn it on, it starts scanning and seconds later it turns off. Sometimes it won't even turn on and i have to make a hard reset.
Tried different ROMs and android versions but that was to no avail...
Any ideas?
my s2 also have problem on wifi and hotspot.. when i try to switch on the hotspot.. there is an error underneath.
can somebody help?
i oso flashed 2.3.3 and 2.3.4 firmware but jus no help..
Found any solution ?

I've recently upgraded my Samsung Galaxy S II to Android 4.0.3 (COA - Romania) using Samsung Kies.
I sometimes have an issue:
- when I click the WiFi icon on status bar to activate wireless connection it partially gets green and stays locked for about 1-2 minutes. This happens every 6 or 7 attempts to connect using wireless. What can I do? I've already made a "Factory reset".
Another issue is:
- when I start wireless connection or the data connection from my network operator the phone locks and shuts down.
I know spotted these two issues cumulate: when Wi-Fi gets unresponsive and my phone's screen goes off, I can't start my phone.
After I restart it my battery is 14 percents lower.
Is there any solution?
same issues
I have the same issuses as described above by pykko, and beside that i have to charge my battery once in every 10-12 hours because it gets empty real fast. I don't play or watch movies on it. And i don't keep the mobile data or wireless on, only when i use them.
I have to mention that i didn't experienced these issues before updating to 4.0.3 (COA-Romania).
Any help would be apreciated. Thanks.
Many people have this wifi toggle issue including me but I read many posts saying that DXLP9 has fixed this issue.
you probably should upgrade or find a custom rom with DXLP9 base or u might wanna try VK's rom its XWLP9 but according to the posts they say its fixed .

Thats when ur phone sleeps and never wakes up, I also experinced this problem its refered to as SoD(Sleep of Death), it has been more common in XWLP9(kernel to sepcific)
My recommedation is for you to upgrade to a new rom DWLP9 or the other new ones which came after XWLP9
OR
or you can try a custom rom, I found VK's rom( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1559009 ) its based on XWLP9 but not the kernel and its the same as the stock but themed to ICS, so I find it nice athough I didnt try it yet .
Hi guys,
Me and my girlfriend have both a Samsung Galaxy S2 running the official ICS 4.0.3.
Since the upgrade to ICS, Google Talk won't connect on WiFi anymore.
When I use the 3G network, Google Talk works fine. As soon as I connect to any WiFi network, GTalk goes offline and I am unable to send/receive instant messages.
As I said, me and my girlfriend have the same issue! And it appeared only after upgrading to ICS.
GTalk version is: 4.0.3-239410 (330)
I already performed a factory reset of both phones and also of my home router.
Any other internet application (Google Play, Internet, Facebook, etc...) work fine on WiFi.
I have also searched the internet but there are only a few others affected and there is no solution provided to their problem.
Solved
Hello again!
As I said, me and my girlfriend had the same problem. 2 days ago, the battery of my girlfriend's phone went empty and the phone turned off completely. We never tried to turn off the phones completely until now.
After she turned on the device again, Gtalk started to work also on WiFi.
Then she told me that Gtalk is woring again and I restarted my phone.....of course it didn't work for me. Then my idea was to also turn off my phone completely. After turning it on again, BOOM !! Gtalk started working also for me!!!!
I have no logical explanation for this, but I am really happy that I can use Gtalk from home now, when connected via WiFi.
So, reboots didn't help, but complete shut down did help.
I have the same problem on S3. My GTalk also started to work after turning off my phone. But then I went out for a while and phone was connected to 3G. When I came back there was the same problem again, phone connected to Wifi and GTalk offline. In this case turning off helps again but I think it isn't best solution for this issue.

I have just bought S3 few days back . Its with Jelly bean 4.1.2. I am facing the same issue. Notification works fine in mobile network but not in home WIFI. The problem starts only if I change twice in between wifi to mobile ( wifi -mobile -wifi ). I am using notification for Facebook messenger and Gtalk. I tried to do factory reset or hard reset or tried in friend's WIFI but nothing works to that problem. Only i thing I see, it works if I reboot the phone then the notifications start to work again in WIFI also.

same problem here
Same problem here. WiFi firewall maybe??? Have you tried with different wifi networks.
(SII CM10.1)
Hello,
I became a proud owner of S3. As it usually happens to me there is the problem. Namely, from time to time problem happens to me when I'm using any web browser or anything that requires an Internet connection. Say for example Opera. I'm browsing pages and suddenly ... BOOM ... 3-5 second pause in the connection over WiFi (energy saving is off and in WiFi settings - I did it via code, in the service menu). Sometimes Internet connection breaks when I'm browsing menu or writing an SMS. For example: I browse the menu and suddenly I see - WiFi stamp disappears and after a while there is info about that phone is connected again. This is the first problem.
The phone is lying, WiFi operates in the background. When I Pick up the phone and when I'm clicking home (or power) button I get the lock screen and. .. freeze. Phone is disconnected from WiFi and only time the phone reconnects to WiFi I can unlock the screen.
On what ROM were the problems? On the Stock LF2, ROOTed LF2, Omega 7.1 - 9.0 and AOKP Milestone6.
And also it does not work automatic refresh of weather (at 1 h interval) on stock widget (the Samsung weather widget).
Sorry for my bad English.
Why couldn't you have just set your wifi to never turn off in settings, wifi, advanced.....it's practically the same thing....I wouldn't be messing around with the service menu. I would wipe data/factory reset and start again bud but this time, stay away from the service menu as it's for technicians and phone repairs etc I've not once touched the service menu....

I found the same problem ever since I upgraded to LH3 (the latest official release at this moment). The lock screen is frozen if: I had the WiFi Switched On, screen off either manually or timeout, then disconnected (say if I walk away from the wifi service area). When I press Power or Home button to wake the device, the lock screen is frozen.
Seems no freeze if wifi remains connected. Seems no freeze if wifi power saving mode is off (disabled via *#0011# (but setting won't stay if unit is power off).
Did both Cache wipe (didn't do factory reset) but makes no difference. Tried "never turn off" also makes no difference (probably because it will turn off anyway when connection is dropped)
The upgrade seems worser than before...
Any hints please...
This seems to be common but not always the same fix, my wifi constantly drops out and reconnects immediately (ruining any downloads/streaming) , i have tried the service mode, factory reset, different kernels, sleep time, static IP's, JB vs ICS Roms / Stock roms, you name it i have tried it and it STILL is doing it. Weird thing is..dont think it dropped out and reconnected when i was stock and unrooted, but as i said, tried stock rom and to no avail
Any ideas?
Bump

I have this issue on my galaxy note N7000, and only recently for like a month now and on various different ROMs all JB. Any updates on what the cause could be?
Go full unrooted stock and send the phone in for warranty repair. It's the smartest thing to do if a problem persists after lots of ROM switching and factory resetting.

That's would be the smartest thing to do, indeed. But... Warranty expired centuries ago.
Any clue what is causing this not uncommon problem?

Try visiting a(not crowded) place with public Wi-Fi, and see if the issue persists.
If it starts to work fine, get a new router, preferably with 802.11n support. If you buy a N compatible router, check all of your Wi-Fi capable devices for N support, and if one of them doesn't, make them N compatible(if it's a computer, get a new N compatible Wi-Fi card or USB reciever, if it's something else, well, you can't do anything else other than buying a newer version of it with N support, or not using that device's Wi-Fi feature at all) because your router will operate at an older mode even if one of your devices doesn't support N.
Hi,
First of all don't shoot me for asking this, searching for 2 weeks now.
I'm trying to find out wich rom suits me the best. I tried CM10, CM9, Resurrection Remix, SlimICS, Slimbean and a few stock based ones.
All the roms i tried that are AOSP or AOKP give me the same problem. After a while wifi times out. The apps using this connection aren't even aware, they think they are still connected (gtalk for example). To be clear it is not the same problem as the wifi not working thing in Jellybean (bootloader).
Every where i searched (in-and outside XDA) i get thesame solutions: flash iCS first, use a static ip address, use wifi fixer, delete everything in data\misc\dhcp, use*#0011# (wich these roms dont even have)
on a stock based rom i don't have this problem at all. wifi stays connected for hours so its not a hardwareproblem.
Is there anyone who knows the reason for this problem? I tried with 2 completely different routers/networks but the problem remains.
I use the international variant GT-I9300
thanks in advance!
I've got a similar issue to this. Any help would be great.
Treare, how's your battery life since this issue started?
hi,
Well, i play so much with this phone that i have to charge twice a day. But this is since day 1 so hard to answer your question. When the phone is a little older i would be able to answer (when the playing becomes less)
did some more tests:
Hypergalaxy ICS: phone sleeping, wifi stays connected, no problems
Hypergalaxy JB: phone sleeping, wifi stays connected, no problems
Wanam ICS: phone sleeping, wifi stays connected, no problems
Wanam JB: phone sleeping, wifi stays connected, no problems
SlimICS: phone sleeping, wifi dropped, wifi icon says connected, all apps seem connected but aren't anymore
Slimbean: phone sleeping, wifi dropped, wifi icon says connected, all apps seem connected but aren't anymore
Liquidsmooth: phone sleeping, wifi dropped overnight, wifi icon says connected, all apps seem connected but aren't anymore
CM10: phone sleeping, wifi dropped overnight, wifi icon says connected, all apps seem connected but aren't anymore
Resurrection Remix: phone sleeping, wifi dropped, wifi icon says connected, all apps seem connected but aren't anymore
Temasek unofficial CM: phone sleeping, wifi dropped, wifi icon says connected, all apps seem connected but aren't anymore
Is there really nobody who has a possible fix please?
Hi,
How stupid can it be?
After hours and hours and DAYS of testing and flashing the only thing i did was changing TKIP/AES into TKIP on one of my routers. Never had any time outs anymore the last 2 days.
I never changed anything in my routers because every single device i have works without problems (3 laptops, 1 desktop, 3 symbian phones, 1 SGS2, 1 SGS3 with stock rom, a printer and a television).
So my conclusion is AOSP/AOKP/CM don't like AES (or TKIP/AES). Correct me if i'm wrong.
