anyone already try slimport or MHL? it works? (i guess slimport can work because g2 work with slimport)
Maybe a little late, but better late then never.
The phone is/has been advertized as having a slimport, this is false information. It has NO slimport.
I bought the phone, wanting to connect it to the TV. Having bought a slimport adapter, it did not work and I emailed LG customer support (in the Netherlands).
They rectified the info on the dutch website. So that was a big letdown.
D: that bastards, ty very much for the information, i was going to buy it haha but maybe ill wait for the microsoft wireless... that thing they made to conect the phone by miracast or something, is like an hdmi but by wireless, idk how it will work

MHL cable is from mini USB to HDMI, so you can connect it to TV directly + it will charge your phone.
MHL adapter is from mini USB to HDMI port, so you have to connect an HDMI cable to the port and then to TV + it will charge your phone.

I mean, I want to connect D618 mini USB port with a USB 2.0 port of my TV.
Meanwhile D618 only acts as a USB, and can only view videos or photos in the phone, the TV does not display other content.
I am the attempt to enables modes "USB debugging" of D618 but not have effect.
As far as I know, D618 dual sim (Vietnam) does not support MHL.

Your TV probably only supports UMS (like most with USB port) but the phone doesn't.
You can put your video files on an USB flash drive and plug that to your TV.

It is a MHL cable and AFAIK, no one sells them yet..expect them to be out soon..other option is if you have a dlna compatible tv or box, u can use that wirelessly to stream videos/pictures but dlna AFAIK doesnt mirror the screen like mhl would.

No, its the MHL cable/adapter the earlier poster mentioned.
Both MHL and Micro-USB-to-HDMI will work but the MHL cable has the added benefit of it being able to charge the phone at the same time.
How will mini USB work when the SGSII has a micro USB port, and no mini USB port? The only possible port to connect HDMI to is the micro USB port, and the only possible technology to output HDMI from that port is MHL.
when should we see these cables?
Clove are saying in June, Expansys are saying end of May (but Expansys and release date reliability hardly go hand in hand). I'd go with the Clove date for now.
There is a chance they'll be available for purchase before then from the US, since the Infuse 4G comes with adapter in its retail box (Phonedog have an unboxing up one youTube).
Does this phone do HDMI mirroring like the Optimus G2X?
Nobody knows, since there are no MHL accessories available.

This cable works only on Nokia 5800.
There are no Android phones that support TV-out via 3.5mm jack. Some phones have HDMI port for this, but most don't.
Now, microUSB-HDMI adapter is known to work on some Androids, but LWW has not been tested. So we also do not know, if there is any app for it or not.
2nd way would be DLNA, but that only supports media files.

I already tried the Samsung "Micro USB <-> HDMI" cable and it dindt work. But that cable it's a bit weird, you have to connect the charger to the cable. Maybe a generic "Micro USB <-> HDMI" cable works

You don't connect the charger to the adapter.
I am not sure, if Xperia's support TV-out from microUSB. If not, then likely will not work.
For DLNA, you need the original file from stock ROM.

In Xperia Mini st15a, DLNA can be used through an app what initiate an server what give access for media content like videos and photos, and if you have an eletronic like a notebook or tv with dlna certified, then they have the client to connect to the server and execute these contents. Although, windows 7 comes with dlna client, windows media center, through wifi (dlna is a protocol what runs over wifi).
I asked in my country to Sony support about MHL, they say what the only device is the Xperia Arc S what have MHL ... but i can't confirm that, and the new Xperia U, P etc etc maybe have. However, for us owners of xperia 2011 devices, theres no mhl function, and i searched a lot... so i found xBounds, google it.
About cables through jack, the same, don't work... Sony have an oficial cable to x1 i guess, but not for live's or mini's.
Search also about mirrorOp app on Google Play Store.
PS3 have dlna also and Sony have an app on Play called VScreens.

And it we go again... all noob have hope about the HDMI in service menu...
Yes, in service menu there is a button for hdmi test. All Android with service menu have a button for hdmi test. All Android with this button kinda have hdmi software support. But, in order to use HDMI properly, the device need a hardware what support HDMI, for example, MHL need an USB socket and a circuit, HDMI need a HDMI socket and a circuit.
In this case, is all about hardware not only software. Although, there are some ways to do screen mirroring, some hardwares and softwares. I bet in xBounds.
No one tried to plug an MHL adapter in mini's or live's, because no one reported if work or not, all we have is a uncertainty. No one tried to plug another kind of cable and reported if work or not. *No one since the latest search I made.
I haven't tried to use an MHL adapter yet because I don't found it in my country so easily and don't found a MHL adapter "more appropriate".
I just need search for a friend or visit some seller what I can meet to test it. I don't found yet.

Doubt not. You're obviously too busy to look it up . Suffice to say that entering "android tv out 3.5mm" or "galaxy s tv" on a well known phone spec checker (sometimes known as 'giyf') gives prominent links to the correct accessory and video demos.

The Sidekick 4g does as well. 4pin 3.5mm TRRS (Left,Right,Ground,Video) cables work on it. So does the Galaxy S II (i9100), and according to Samsung's website, with "Samsung Exhibit™ 4G Android Smartphone Samsung Captivate™ Android Smartphone Samsung Vibrant™ Android Smartphone Galaxy S™ 4G Android Smartphone Samsung Omnia® II Touchscreen Smartphone"
Composite video on 3.5mm jack, and most of those phones have MHL over usb or hdmi as well. Suck on that non-believer.
Samsumg have nice phones.
Sadly theres no MHL, or jack, or HDMI, or magic for xperia mini/pro, et cetera.
Is really unpleasant what the demostration video for LiveDock cause the impression of is possible do tv out for any phone Xperia, but this was discussed before, the true is what the phone in demostration has your own HDMI out. Even the docks with HDMI out, is for phones that already have the HDMI out builded in.
We have just a long wait for xBounds becomes a true for us, because is the only resource what seems work as we need and want.
Of course there's another solutions, but the issue is the delay, but this is not problem, for example, if you want just show content in non-real time.

So at the end of day? is it possible for a TV out for My XM>?
sorry i posted this under an irratating name and didnt find the button to edit the topic title
m trying to set up a desktop like experience with the xperia s, im just in the beginning and have upgraded the phone to the newest hardware.
what im trying to do is in no particular order
1) connect the x S to a preferably vga monitor
2) connect the x S to a powered USB HUB (with at least mouse and keyboard)
is it possible to have a USB HUB running with the devices and at the same time charge the phone?
3) install Ubuntu on the phone
obviously it should work 1 & 2 & 3 at the same time
maybe someone knows which problems i may encounter?
thanks in advance for answering
1) No, HDMI only
2) No, you can't charge a hub master from the hub
3) Installing Ubuntu is possible with chroot, but it will be slow.

No. The Xperia S doesn't have VGA outputs (obviously) and chrooted Ubuntu will not have hardware acceleration for the UI (well, for anything) because there are no Adreno X drivers, therefore it will fall back to vesa (software) which, combined with Unity, will be SLOW.

Basically, VGA is analog, HDMI is digital. You'll need a converter to do that, not a simple cable.

It is not easier because HDMI and DVI formats are not compatible. And no, there's no native Linux on Qcom devices. Even if we were to build a native system, it wouldn't have any graphics acceleration.
1. use a hdmi screen
2. best bet is to use the Sony Livedock and connect a wireless keyboard/mouse combo that works from one usb dongle. (i use this http://www.staples.co.uk/technology...yboards-and-mice/wireless-touch-keyboard-k400), works like a charm.
3. not sure, sorry. i know there is a way of running some sort of windows 95 emulator or something, but don't know about any linux dist.
my setup is hdmi out to my hdmi projector with logitech k400 conntected via livedock, so the phone can charge while i'm using it for things like internet browsing/long emails etc. also if you need to connect more devices, like a separate dongle for mouse.keyboard and maybe usb flash drive and usb controller at the same time, you can use a usb hub connected to the live dock. i use a non powered one and can connect my logitech k400, an xbox controller (wired) and a usb microsd reader at the same time).
hope that helps.

If it's a power issue you could put a powered usb hub between the otg cable and the disk.
Or you could buy a usb powerpack and plug the usb power cable into that, assumming the drive has a cable with 2 usb connectors.
