I have two Droid DNA's with me and both of them needed screen replacement. I ordered the screen from eBay through a chinese seller. Got the parts and also fixed them. Everything was working fine for a couple of days, then one of the phone started to show distorted images, some lines along the screen in few areas. This area went on increasing. Then it went to a point it became unusable. I am attaching the pictures of the issue. Now my other DNA is also started to get the same issue. Anyone had similar issues? What are my options? When i take a screenshot of the distortion and view it on my laptop i can see nothing wrong in it where as the same screenshot viewed in the gallery, i get the same distortion in the same places. I thought this could be a software glitch and tried flashing a custom ROM on it but the issue persists, now even worse. I get it even in the recovery.
It is either faulty hardware (most likely from Chinese seller) or the data cable came loose. In any event, contact the seller of the issue to see if you can RMa

Contact the seller. Only other issue it would be is faulty screen.

I have sent him a message, this is actually a replacement screen. The first one sent also had some issues with it. I'll make sure I'll stick to US sellers. Lesson learnt the hard way I guess.

Screen turns off when placing phone to ear as expected however does not come back on when pulled away. Only after the 2nd party disconnects will the screen come back on after pressing power button and the only to the lock screen. This is a new issue. Anyone else having this problem or know of a solution?

I'm having the same issue. Anyone find a fix for this?
Just got off the phone with Verizon. They're sending a replacement. Something wrong with proximity sensor. Actually appears to be a speck behind glass over sensor.

I have also been having a bit of trouble with the same thing. On top of the screen not always coming on when I move the phone away from my ear during a phone call, sometimes when I pull up the keypad while on the phone and attempt to press a key, the screen will turn off. I think it's because the shadow of my hand makes it think it's back up to my ear. I see two little sensors next to the camera; one of them appears to have a little speck or dot on it. Maybe a piece of dirt in it? Can somebody who doesn't have this problem check and see if they see a very very tiny dot on the sensor closest to the in call speaker?
I've been having the same issue with my Note 2, I was wondering if this could be a software issue since I have messed with a few roms but decided to go back to stock. I've been looking everywhere for a solution, even went as far trying to find replacement files to see if that would fix it, but to no avail. I guess I'll have to replace the device.

I have found a fix for this, at least for me, as I mentioned in an earlier post I had flashed a few ROMs, decided to search the other carriers galaxy note 2 forums and found this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2070360&highlight=proximity+sensor
Luckily there is a Perseus kernel for verizon too here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2048013
Will do this later and report.
Edit: the perseus kernel by itself didn't do the trick but beanstown's stock root/deodex and jelly 'beans' roms did! I now have everything working like new with cleanrom installed

Hello,
If anyone can save me a couple hundred bucks that I dont have, I would appreciate it.
Im running an S-OFF Unlocked DNA with
This rom - http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=2141129
and this kernel - http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=2021714
I've been running it without issues for two weeks. Today it just wouldnt turn on. It doesnt accept a charge. Ive gotten the white HTC screen to come on for a second a couple times, and I've gotten it to boot up fully once. But after the screen timed out, it wouldn't come on again.
Any help would be appreciated. Dont have money to buy another phone.
I've tried searching. Most people that have boot issues can at least get to a bootloader or recovery screen. I cannot.
Have you tried letting it charge for a long while? I've heard it takes some times up to fifteen minutes for the charging led to even lit.

I personally have never opened up this phone so I wouldn't know. But this is a suggestion that worked for someone else and has also worked when my nexus 7 did a similar act. It wouldn't indicate it was charging and wouldn't turn on but disconnecting the battery and reconnecting it worked for me. I doubt it's something to do with software as you said your set up was working fine for 2 weeks. I'm pretty sure this should fix it for you.

Well, I got the battery disconnected and reconnected. Even though the battery sits under the motherboard, the battery has a thin connector that its accessible without removing anything else. It doesnt appear that my problem has been fixed. I guess I wont ever know, my screwdriver slipped off the screw and connected with a pin on the board and sparked. Pretty sure I just shorted the whole thing.
Claim insurance or warranty. It sounds like a hardware problem if that didn't fix it.

I should mention it was jtagged. Not saying that was the root cause. But the inside of the phone is definitely different than a stock one. Mobiletechvideos.com put a different film on it than the one it came with. Any chance of warranty or insurance is out.
You can still try to claim it. Most of the time they aren't looking inside the phone. Though this really isn't your fault. It sounds like the hardware failed and that is why it wouldn't charge and boot. But we won't know now. I don't know how jtag works but it could have contributed to it.

Just to add my 2 cents,
I have sent back phones to verizon and asurion for issues and every phone except one was rooted and never had an issue. I even traded in my thunderboolt towards the dna when it came out (they offered me $72.00) and all i did was uninstall superuser/busybox & titanium backup right in front of the rep and my fiance then handed it right to the guy on the spot. He turned it on, made sure the touch screen worked & then said ok, you get full trade in price.
As for the other phones that I sent in, droid eris, incredible and 2 samsung, all with one issue or another, never once did they charge me or call or anything. Got the new phone next day, sent the old one in and thats it. I have never had an issue.
Now I know this may not have happened for every one but I think if you just send it in via mail and not have an instore rep look at it, you will never have an issue. I think if an in store rep sees an issue and realize its rooted, they may flag it in case it goes in for verizon replacement or asurion replacement but just a normal send in should not cause an issue.
Earlier today I attempted replacing the screen on my DNA. All went well aside from the fact that I somehow managed to break off the little part of the power button that makes it click. So, would anyone out there willing to pay a reasonable amount for it? It works 100% otherwise, I just have a slight case of OCD and cant deal with it.

I'm having really bad battery problems with my girlfriends phone.
We were running pa jelly bean and we bought a new battery to try fix the problem as its quite an old phone.
Still had the same problem so tried pa kit kat. That didn't fix it either.
Basically the phone will charge to 100% then go down normally to about 40 or 60% then it will totally die and when you put it back on charge it will he at zero again. So she's really not getting a use out of the phone at all. Am I going to need to flash stock again? Anyone had this problem before?
Thanks

Flashed stock jb uk. Took all day to download too as samfirmware seem to have changed their servers. And same problem.
It was at about 60% then it froze and I had to take the battery out and put it on charge to get it back on again. And it was 0%!
Could it be a bad charger port or something? Means I would need to take the phone apart to see which revision it is won't I?
Thanks

It hasn't been wetted. I heard of an issue with i9100's that its appears to be on charge constantly even when unplugged the charger icon stays in the corner. Given what you've already tried (new battery/etc) & given how quick/easy/cheap (~US$15) it is to replace the USB board/port, I'd be doing that if I were in your situation. KeithRoss39 has a guide in the General section which has all the info you need to get it done.

Cheers mistah. I've already replaced the LCD screen on it so should I had the thing in pieces already. Only pain is I have to check the rev number on the board before I order it I think so it matches. It's no bigger than the cutouts for the headphones on most cases so this should be fine to use on a phone with a case. It is in fact the same size as most headphone connectors so if a headphone fits so will this. Just an excuse to spend 24p really lol that's why I bought one, no reason to.. No reason not to. Although I do think being able to activate the flash with one click even with the phone in standby is pretty useful for me personally.

Any effect on battery life?
My G3 (D855) seems to be having issue detecting anything that I plug in the headphone jack other than the stock headphones that came with it. I tried plugging in the pressy button and a portable speaker on separate occasions but they were only detected momentarily. The button works fine on my old phone which is a galaxy note n7000 so I'm pretty sure it isn't spoilt.
Anyone has any clue about this issue? Otherwise I'll probably send my G3 for repair since it's still obviously still under warranty.
I am having issue with Pressy on g3 and my other phone so it's not the phone it's Pressy.
