Again, I am not forcing anyone to do this specially you, the devs. Just trying to request a feature I think will help this rom more clean. But I cant do it myself that's why I ask you devs.
Fade Screen off animation is really awesome. That'll be very nice on Nexus devices. CRT screen off is good but fading is better. Thanks!

Pretty sure the request is already on the bug tracker where all feature requests should be. The team doesn't keep up with these forums...

sorry, looks like it might be Xposed's GravityBox setting for screen off. I too dislike the CRT effect. I actually prefer non-fade-out, simply turn off immediately. Looks coolest to me. Only way for that is turning off some of the system UI animations

I used Xposed Modules before. But it seems not working good and I dont like to turn off UI animations. That's why I am asking for this feature like what I saw in the other roms. Isnt it good?

Alright guys here it is. LightXT its pretty self explanatory. This does require you to be rooted. This is V.1 so there might be bugs but I haven't found any so you should be fine. This has only been tested on US XT720 running Khalpowers miui themed V3 but technically it should work on all models of this phone with the auto focus led.
Disclaimer: I am not held responsible for any harm this app may cause your phone or your LED light.
If you like this App please dont forget to hit the thanks button.
*****THIS APP DOES NOT TURN YOUR XENON FLASH ON IT TURNS ON YOUR AUTO FOCUS LIGHT***** sorry for the confusion
First!!!
Works great but i found a bug.
If you turn on the light and then rotate the screen you have to click 2 times to turn it off again...
But still awesome thanks!!!!
thanks. is the light supposed to be red? that's all Im getting
Yes its our auto focus light. Our actual flash is xenon which requires a charge to flash that's why no other flashlight app works so we created this one specific to our phone.
its amazing, thx! =))
this is amazing! thank you... thank you... thank you...
Thanks alot man! My buddy has been dying for this app and it works great. Any plans for a widget??
Just thought of something.
Could this somehow be integrated into say Khal's rom and set for use on media key?
That would be sick, probably just wishful thinking though.

I'm trying to convince him into making us a widget it shouldn't be a problem. And there will be a version with the rotate bug fixed uploaded soon. Can't give an exact time but ill update the first post when its in my hands.
Just Great...this can help me...Thanks
until a build in widget is added, the next best thing as a work around is to use

yup thats the only one that turns on our flash is a xenox so we can not just turn it on and off. thats why when you download a led flashlight app from the market ie. droidlight it does nothing. the apps are looking in the wrong place for the led to turn on and thats why we made this app ts made only for our phone and all other variants of this phone.
i feel like i wrote that before.
Is it just me, or does the S2 not have the cool screen off animation that looks like an old TV switching off? I thought it came as part of gingerbread?
Now there is a proper reason not to buy the phone, it's rubbish without this feature.

On-topic: Can be re-added in custom rom or maybe even with a nice option through an app.

Only for Nexus S and One with pure Google experience.
BTW I hated it and disabled it on my HTC Desire custom ROM.

Someone will make a flashable update.zip, don't worry. We need CWM first though
Ive had the phone for 5 days and have only just noticed, so no big deal really. Would be nice to have though as I think it's pretty cool looking.

i have the screen off animation on my nexus one, and it really is worth it to have that little feature. HTC took it off their upcoming phones as well, who knows why they are removing it.
it will be added back with custom ROMs for sure.
If you want the old CRT TV-off animation try the program "Screen Off and Lock", has the same thing. I use it on my SGSI now, and from memory there was a recent update for gingerbread compatibility. You can check youTube for examples of it in action, unfortunately I cannot supply a link since I'm at work.
Is there any way to put the screen on/off anims in the salsa/bbq roms?
I know I've asked this a couple times before, and I hate to be a bother but I figured I'd ask one more time.
Any reply is appreciated, thanks.
Wait and see I think we may have someone who is working on a new salsa rom for us with on and off animations

Here, I've been using this for quite a while. It's called screen off and lock.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.katecca.screenofflock&feature=search_result
If you tinker with the settings, it has the crt screen off animation. The youtube demonstration vid shows the crt animation. I have it on random animations and my search key is used turn my screen off. Though, I'm not sure if it's the same as the stock version but it's quite useful imho.
Thank for the replies guys. I'll try screen off and lock in the meantime till the euro port is released.

I was wondering if there is a way now that we have root to enable the Gingerbread on / off animation that HTC removed, without having to flash a new ROM?
This is different than the power up / restart / down animation that is listed elsewhere in this forum.
Thanks!
I just searched around, and maybe it's lack of proper wording but all I turned up was "it's in Gingerbread" Nothing relating to how to activate/deactivate/change it. What I would surmise from all of this is that HTC chose not to implement it in their build, so an AOSP build would/should have it vs the HTC build.. Sucks but it seems like all we have right now.
Of course the last link I try, I find this: http://droidmodderx.com/old-school-crt-animation-for-gingerbread-tv-off/
Don't go flashing it, but we should be able to pick it apart and determine what we need to add in.
I was able to add it in but HTC messed something in the code up and the animation plays extremely slow. I'm still looking around to see if i can figure out how to speed it up and once i do it'll be in my rom.
Awesome. This is my first Android and I've seen it in videos. Seems pretty cool!
u can try spare parts+ to speed up the animation.

Are you talking about the animation that comes up when you turn your phone off/on? The animation on the CM roms? If thats the one your talking about I would love it too.

No, this is when you put the screen to sleep(tap the power button, or wait for the screen timeout).
It's called the CRT animation, is mimics the screen "twitch" old CRT computer monitors.

Negative, according to Newt and Chingy, the animation does work but there's something within the OS that slows it down dramatically, so it's pretty much useless.
We'll have this soon enough, the dev's are awesome and they'll figure it out. I do like having those animations.

Coming from EVO 3D, I know it took them quite a while to get CRT working there, as well.
Okay, I've had it already with all this whining about Roms coming to our device when we don't have an unlocked boot loader yet. What the heck do some people here expect? These forums are for experienced developers, some of you should not even be posting asking these questions. If you want a ROM so badly learn to develop. Learn to unlock our boot loader, don't give our devs hell. This is not a Google device, this isn't a Nexus where you would have a ROM the next day. Chill, even the worst devices have Dev support, ours will come. So until we get an unlocked boot loader please stop complaining, you may as well rewatch the noob video, because you clearly don't understand what you've been told
That being said what is your favorite custom ROM out there that you would like to see land on our device? There are so many but what is second to none in your opinion?
This biggest problem is how they will implement the 3 virtual buttons in custom roms?
CyanogenMod, no contest.
I really like LG's stock rom, so if I could get a debloated version of it I'd be happy. I have faith it will come.

you don't need an unlocked bootloader to flash a rom. you just need an exploit. too many people are saying this and it's not true.

ROMS for KT version
Is anyone actively developing any ROMS for the KT version F320?
Cyanogen Mod. That is exactly what I'm hoping for.
I am curious to know how/if the "Knock on" feature will be implemented.
I'm already dreading having to use the rear power button every single time I want to wake the device. "Knock on" does not yet work with any Launcher that I have tried. The status bar still works as a shutdown, but I've hidden my status bar. I've been relegated to assigning my app drawer button as a shutdown while assigning a swipe action to the app drawer button to activate the app drawer. I don't mind this implementation, but how will custom roms be able to implement "Knock on"?
If I can't use "Knock on" to wake the device, I'll be a little upset. I'd rather not have to give my phone the reach around every time I want to use it.

For now you could just freeze or uninstall all those apps for the time being, at least if ram is your concern you could free up 600 mb of ram. But shutting down these services will have a positive impact on your phones resources without a doubt.

I'm running CleanROM 1.1 and there's a noticeable UI speed improvement over stock. I think I'll stay with this rom for a while... best Android experience I've ever had.

Clean rom is only available to AT&T right now, this is the best methodology for debloating the OS outside of having the debloated rom.

Knock on works with 3rd party launchers. You have to knock on the status bar. The screen still comes on using 3rd party launchers in my testing.

With many launchers you can also use the double tap gesture (I use Nova) and assign it to the app "screen off and lock" in the app store. Works seamlessly with no noticeable difference than stock launcher.

I am not a fan of vanilla Android, I like the LG UI and also their launcher. I will be happy with some more themes for the stock themer, tweaks to remove things here and there and edit the status bar, notification area etc. Really I love this phone so much stock that for me its just a few things I want to be able to change. As far as a rom ported over, I have been flashing for a few years here and it was just weeks ago while I had the HTC One that I flashed ViperOne rom from Team Venom. I never used a rom that gave so much control and options in such an easy and well packaged form, turning in my One for the G2 would have been so much easier had I not had to give up Viper.
