is this the only method to do without voiding warranty? I just got the phone so I need to know too:silly:
Can someone please respond?!
@ David 522d....On verizon this is only [email protected] s-off i believe,it says it doesnt install su so you will need to install that on your own. I dont use flashify so cant say yes or no on that....Safer to use good ole fastboot/adb commands. @ xuanphucn by doing s-off/unlocking bootloader you void your warranty, hense why folks put everything back to stock before returning/rma etc.

but i heard that if you request unlock bootloader code through the htc developer website. it will void your warranty no matter what. They keep track with that. Correct me if i'm wrong
Incorrect...it says may void your warranty...but if restored bacl to s-on for whatever reason its fine

So why do people have to pay for sunshine to get it unlocked? I'm confused
Cannot speak for the Sunshine developers, but they put the work in so why shouldnt they reap some benefit from it...s-off and unlocking bootloader are two different things, htc will allow certain carriers phones to be unlocked by the htcdev site, and only allows certain parts of the device to be accessed(kernel, rom, recovery flashing)s-off allows all parts to be manipulated(different firmware, radios etc)

Sorry if this is posted before or buried in the mountain of threads, but from what i've read so far, does the root method actually give you S-OFF? I don't want to root it if i wont be able to flash roms. Also, when i plugged in my device the driver updated and its 2.0.7.3. Does that mean i dont need to download the drivers?
tampered just means rooted if you want to unlock your bootloader so you can flash custom roms.click on the link below and it has instructions.

Check out this thread:

There is no S-Off for this phone as of yet, but I don't think we'll need it. Root is different than S-Off.
S-Off is closer to an Unlocked bootloader, which the post I directed to you does. With this method you'll be able to flash roms using TWRP.

Currently there is no S-Off method available for this phone (as of right now). But we've come to find out that we don't need S-Off that much on this phone.
Even with S-On, you can flash roms, mods, tweaks, etc. Hell you can even flash Radios now (which use to be reserved for S-Off).
The current method is HTCDev Unlock. It does mark your bootloader as 'tampered'. But when am I going to actually use a manufacturer warranty or somebody like Sprint is actually going to check the Bootloader. But even that is different from root. You can root, which will give you root access. Then if you want you can unlock the bootloader which will allow you to flash a custom recovery which will allow you to flash Roms, etc.
Edit: I've been ninja'd.
Thank you very much guys
So in order to flash custom ROMs I have to unlock the bootloader (and void the warranty)?

yes, but you can make it seem as if you never unlocked by ruu'ing. sprint will never know... if it gets that bad, "somebody stole it."

Well sprint only gives 30 days warranty anyways so I am actually worried about HTC's warranty. I dont have the insurance through Sprint (which I heard is going to increase to 10 bucks a month).
Hi everyone, i 'm going to be concise. I own an HTC onex+ international version (it should be no brand) and i would like to unroot it and reset to factory for a warranty issue. I'm extremely noob so i would like, if it's possibile, the fastest, easyest and safest way to do so.
On internet i found several guides about it as http://onexroot.com/one-x-unroot/how-to-unroot-rooted-htc-one-x/ or http://theunlockr.com/2012/12/28/how-to-unroot-the-htc-one-x-2/ BUT i found also an xda tool http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1870652&nocache=1 that sounds appropriate to me; i read on other forum that i need some kind of extra instrument like boot.img
There are some things to take note of. The boot.img and HBoot image flashing requires users to get their own files as those are device specific and aren’t included

actually i have no idea where get it and how use it. I would be very gratefull if some of you could explain to me step by step how to do the unroot.
ps. i just rooted and put inside the cmw under the instruction of friend of mine but i don't really understand how i did it.
thank you in advance.
relock bootloader and install RUU and you are back on Stock
but would you be back on stock for a warranty issue, you didn't must do that.
warranty has nothing to do with your firmware or root or bootloader unlock.
they would be erase all at your phone and flash the RUU

thank you for your reply but the problem is that actually i don't know how to relock booloader and what RUU is; that's why i was lokking for a step by step guide. I may follow and understand a little the guide of before but i'm not safe that it works with htc onec+ too.

really? i belived that an "unlocked" phone was an enough reason to invalidate the warranty isn't it?

if you dont touch the bootloader it says: LOCKED
if you unlocked bootloader it says: UNLOCKED
if you relocked bootloader it says: RELOCKED
we can never go back to LOCKED (RELOCKED is technical the same like LOCKED, but it shows as RELOCKED) all people can see that the bootloader was touched by the user
so it cant the reason for that
to relock:
boot into bootloader
and execute this command in fastboot:
fastboot oem lock
now you can install your latest RUU (RUU is the Stock Firmware from HTC as *.exe to install from Windows [depends on your CID])
does anyone know if theres a "simple root" method for the m8??
Is unlocking bootloader, flash recovery, s-off all required just to root? I don't care about any of that stuff.. I just want a simple root
if thats possible

Unfortunately, unlocking the bootloader is required for the ATT variant to obtain root. Easy way to do that is this toolkit:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2699065
Unlock the bootloader, then you can flash a custom recovery and a superuser zip
S-Off is not required for rooting.

Yes...sorta. No RUU yet so this is the best you can do for now. Here are the instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701376
Great, thanks guys Ill give that toolkit a shot
If not, is there an equivalent simple root available for our phone? Need root to run a great program. Unfortunately, this has always been sooo simple on past phones.
Please help.

You cold always got to HTCDEV.com and unlock the bootloader and flash SuperSU or superuser. But that will erase everything on your phone. So make a backup.

There is/was someone in the general board who received and is selling s-off 610s. (No actualperson bought from his sale, so I don't know if he was lying or if it was an error)
ClearD is working on a Rom, so he's probably the only person currently with an idea of how to go about it. Like I said though, he's been working pretty hard on the Rom so he may be reticent to start a new project.

Phew. I appreciate the thought, but that is way beyond my level of experience. However, I do have information of someone working on an s-off for our device. It's probably going to be a while until it's finalized, but it will work on a wide range of devices, similar to Sunshine. It will also be a paid app, like Sunshine. But, I'd pay for s-off myself. It's important. Lol

Can you elaborate a little on that? I know s-off is important but if the bootloader is unlocked and we have a kernel doesn't that mean we can flash unsigned zips already?
Or is it more about using it on other carriers? I have no intention but if I gave this phone to someone, could they take it to say verizon and activate it?
I'm just confused. I guess I don't know the difference between s-off an unlocked bootloader for practical reasons.
Unlocked bootloader lets us flash system, boot, and recovery partitions. That's about it. We can't change the Cid or splash screen or radio image, as those are still security protected. Like the warning screen from the early root method? It's the splash screen. We can remove that once we get s-off. Basically s-off lets you change/flash anything.
Is anyone try "oneclick root" option from MobileGo PC Suite?
On Youtube is posted video(animated presentation)how to root Desire 610 with MobileGo.
On Wondreshare Mobilego Forum is even link to additional root tool: "CC Root" http : //goo.gl/IsyzC
Some with D610 as backup phone maybe wish try, no word about S-OFF, reverse option (from root) is not supported.
P.S.
"oneclick root" option is available in free version of app.
We've already got a root tool... A very simple root tool. That I made. It doesn't s-off.

Is not bad thing knowing if exist more than one option how to root 610, true is that no any feedback about MobileGo root method on any htc phone.
I would prefer wish to hear from you an answer like: I could try...
Thx
We already have more than one root method. And they're simple. There in fact doesn't need to be more than one, because the bootloader can be unlocked and one is all there will ever need to be, because of this. It's as easy as flashing recovery and flashing root through recovery. That's it. My tool just automates that process. Why use something untested when we already have one that will always work, without fail?
Also this thread is about sim unlocking, not rooting. S-off is not root and we don't have s-off capabilities yet. Back on track.
