If I posted this in the wrong forum, please mods put it in the right area as I'm still a newbie on posting around here...i read more than anything.
I want to know where is development with Kyocera XTRM/Life. The price point for the LIFE is at 49.00 right now new in box at MetroPCS. I like a cheap waterproof rugged phone. But I don't want to get it if all I can do is root it. Understand, I'm being like that because essentially who wants to be stuck on the old OS, you know? XTRM is stuck on 4.1.2 with no updates and support ended while Life probably and doubtfully will ever get past 4.3.
I'm willing to sacrifice either model to figure out the bootloading unlock, but simply put, is it worth it? This phone would be my daily driver.

I know we literally just got the subforum, and everyone is going crazy towards development.
Anyways, I've been looking into this and was curious if any of our friends here who actually have the KDZ for their device were willing to give this a shot. I currently have a P769 and never had any real luck with BIN/FLS flashes (Had to return a device bc of this.)
Check it out, and get back to me if anyone has any success!

Im new to rooting and a little nervous, hopefully im in the right place. I have a verizon samsung fascinate and my build number is DI01 i would like to get up to at least ED01 (not sure if it goes higher). The phone is not activated because i live in canada, so downloading the software update from verizon is not an option. That's why im coming here for help. im very confused, there seems to be 100's of different programs getting linked. I just need someone who knows what they are doing to tell me " do this and download that".
Thank's in advance for any help you can give.
**Note** i wont be getting a SD card till thursday so i wont be able to do anything untill then.
No need for multi posting same basic question, the fascinate forum especially has small but very knowledgeable group

Noob here! I'm getting ready to try my hand at rooting and unlocking the bootloader on the LG P769 that my friend gave me. I'm somewhat tech savvy, but some of the rooting and unlocking guides are a bit confusing to me. Not too confusing to turn me away though. At any rate, I'm looking for a good ROM to use with my P769 before I root and unlock. From what I've researched so far, the P769 isn't as easy as most other phones. Especially, seeing as mine is running v20H even after a hard reset of the phone. All I've heard so far about rooting and unlocking P76920H is "Damn you LG!" There is one thread I keep coming across (and losing track of because I forget to bookmark it ) with lots of colorful lettering that looks promising to me. Maybe because I'm a noob, maybe because I like colorful shiny things... Who knows, but I think I'm ready to try it if I can find it again.
Back to the subject at hand, I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations on a ROM for my LG P769 US T-Mobile once I get around to rooting and unlocking it. I'd love to be able to just use the v20H firmware with app2sd enabled. Wondering also if any type of Nexus software, preferably 4.4.2? would run on it? I'm sure I'll receive some "Stupid Noob!!" comments, but I'll accept them with gratitude, as I am new to this and studying the ins and outs of how all this rooting and unlocking stuff works. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. I've done a little research on official and unofficial ROMs for the P769, but everyone with this phone seems to feel forgotten because there are lots of mods for the other P9 models and the P769 is like an unhatched goose egg. I love the phone, just want to get rid of all the bloatware and enable app2sd support. Perhaps rooting, toying with SuperUser and flashing the app2sd enabling scripts would be my best route? hehe... help! please?
Thanks for reading. Hope I'm posting in the right spot. They said Android questions big and small.
Recommendations on LG P769 ROMs anyone?
Hello,
This is my first time posting here, so please excuse me if I'm posting in the wrong place..
I had an LG Splendor (US730), android version 4.0.4, which I believe is ice cream sandwich. I had this through US Cellular, but after moving on to Verizon and getting an HTC, I gave this phone to my granddaughter. She uses it on WiFi to play games and stuff, there is no cell service connected to it. She is running into the problem now of not being able download games, etc. that she wants because the android version is too old.
I asked LG if there was an update from them that could get this phone to hopefully kitkat so it would be usable for at least awhile longer and they said no, it can only go to ice cream sandwich. She is only 11, my son and I don't want her to have a "real" phone yet.
So, I have been researching rooting and I think if I could figure this out, I probably could do it. I am fairly computer savvy, but not phone savvy. Everywhere I read, leads me to a download in the forums here from Bin4ry, but this specific phone is not listed in the compatible devices for this. I have read in other forums of a few people who tried it and it didn't work, so I am asking you experts here, is there somewhere I can find a way to root this phone so that we can upgrade the android version?
I am somewhat confused as to all the lingo involved in rooting, I understand the basic theory, but roms, etc. , I still haven't quite figured that stuff out. But if I did know I could fix this phone, I can learn it, I just want to be able to do it right. The last thing in the world I want to do is end up ruining her phone because she loves it.
I have hit a couple websites with step by step instructions for this rooting this exact phone, but I don't even know if I can trust random website instructions. So, because you guys seem to be the "go to" place for help I am asking here for help.
Thanks in advance, any and all help would be greatly appreciated!
Hello XDA, I have an Alcatel C1 and its a lower price Android from AT&T. I am a major custom rom lover and can barely stand to leave a phone stock, But i cant seem to find any sort of attention to this phone from forums. I have it rooted (using kingo) but there isnt any sort of Custom Recovery or ROM for this phone. I see lots of people with this phone and also wish that there were more attention to this phone. I was looking around and there is apparently a phone called Alcatel "Pop" C1 that is the EXACT same thing and it has roms and attention, but it doesn't help cause that phone is not AT&T and doesnt have 4G like this one does. I really would like to see this phone get lots of roms and attention like the AT&T Fusion 2 did, and if people are willing to build a Recovery/Rom for this phone, ill gladly test it. Thank You!
