First, please accept my appologies in advance for posting in the wrong place or as a repeat.
This is my first post, and I wanted to post in the dev discussion but i do not have enough posts yet.
I just rooted my G2, installed custom recovery(TWRP v2.7.0.0),and Installed Affliction Rom! Awesome! ty to all that made that possible!
I have seen a couple of posts about black screen and keyboard force closes and I wanted to share my experience.
I have found that to get my G2 into recovery all I have to do is hold Vol Down and PWR, Not letting up during boot till I see the starting Recovery.
At first I thought that I was following directions and wiped and Factory reset, what i came to realize is that you need to wipe data also. one I did this Rom booted beautifully and setup up like dream!. So remember WIPE THE DATA under TWRP. Now I am struggling with the hotspot connecting the attached device to the 4g.
Thank you to all!
I have since switched to 2Faced and aquired Wifi tether Trev Mod and werking great.

I'm not sure what to do, this morning I went to settings, about phone and updated it.
When the phone rebooted it said failed to boot 2, starting RSD mode.
If I pull the battery it will boot up fine, but it auto shuts off after 30-45 seconds.
I'm totally new to these phones, I know my Friend "rooted" it for me and it has superuser.
I joined this site to ask for help thought, because I'm under the impressing it is the best.
If you can enter recovery mode (Google how to do it on your phone if you don't know) just wipe cache, then enter into advanced mode & then wipe dev cache, then reflash the current rom you were using before this happened. If this doesn't work follow the wipe steps again above & also do a factory reset then reboot & this may solve your problem?
Hope this helps

hi everyone,
I am actually a long time custom ROM flasher started since Desire days, but registered recently because of this problem I have with the Tab 10.1 Wifi.
Despite me trying everything I can think of, I couldn't flash any other ROMs now, including GalaxyTask, Overcome, AOKP CM9, except the stock Honeycomb sans TouchWiz ROM, and of course PhantomTask. I am pretty sure PhantomTask is the last ROM I've flashed until this problem comes up.
I have made sure that I have done a full clean wipe every time before I flash any of them, wipe data -> cache -> dalvik cache, I even format /system partition, but still none of them works. They always get stuck at boot screen, unless the either one of the two ROMs I've mentioned, stock or PhantomTask.
I am sure that my downloads are complete too, as I've checked MD5 for each of them.
So I really don't know what to do now, any ideas?
I'd really want to test out AOKP
How much time are you giving it to boot up?
I've tried flashing CM9 yesterday, and I left it overnight to boot, it still didn't boot pass the logo, and the battery drained out.
I'll give it another try later
Which version of CWM are you using? If you aren't using one of these try updating:
ClockworkMod - 5.0.2.7
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1090289
Overcome Recovery v5.1.2.6
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1348533
ok I've tried everything I can, and still can't get this to work.
Then finally I've decided to try to unroot and restore everything to stock.
I've followed each and every step of this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474971
After everything is done, Odin is showing the pass sign, according to the video its suppose to reboot into Android, but weirdly its stuck at a black screen. So I unplugged it from the PC rebooted it by holding down power button. But now its stuck at the boot logo, and won't proceed, its been more than 10 mins.
I am still able to boot into download mode, but when I boot into recovery wanting to do a factory reset, it shows a black screen and nothing else.
any idea what's going on?
try using the overcome recovery posted above. there's a link in the post that will take you to the over come site. look for the restore yet tab section and use Odin to restore. follow their instructions exactly an make sure it's relevant to your device first.
this has helped MANY people who had some of the strangest problem start fresh. if you want or need specific links just ask I'll go to my PC where its easier to show you.

COOL! Thanks to you for posting that it worked. Knowing we help is one reason we keep trying to help.
For me personally it's the self gratification of just knowing.
It's kinda selfish I know but it makes me feel good and keeps me trying to help even in the littlest ways my limited knowledge allows.
Again thanks back at you.

I installed ics on my sidekinstalling new programs. sidekick 4g and it was working fine but out of nowhere i started to have problems installing programs. I restarted my phone and i get stuck at the ics graphic screen and my phone wont load fully. I made the mistake of not backing up the rom before i install it and i cant get the phone to fully boot. I already bricked one sidekick I want to be really careful. Can anyone tell lme what i should do next...please(
You should try reïnstalling the right kernel first.
If this helped, please click thanks.
If you have a custom recovery installed, just do a factory reset and hit the thanks button if it helped

You should probably repost in the Questions forum specific to your device to get the best advice. Good luck.
i got my photon 4g rooted without the loss of 4g(guess rooted but locked?).
anyways the way i got to recovery was thru a wall charger, i would use the app system recovery and it would let me do the following: charge mode(where plugged into wall would charge) and recovery mode(phone would reboot and be in recovery)
well i forgot the name of the app and the source. i know i saw it here and was wondering if you could refresh my memory..
my son was playing max payne when a ota came and he hit install. then i got the failed to load 2 error.
got it boot once and was quick enought to go into recovery. had to do a factory reset cause i lost my memory card and no backup was found, but i cant remember the name of the app. was just a .apk file.
thanX in advance.

Check out the sticky thread that says !!!LOOK HERE FIRST!!! by lokifish, it has everything you need. You might want to look there first before posting in the wrong section. This should go under Q&A.
I believe I posted it also in mof's rom thread.
But this really SHOULD be in the Q&A

Hello,
I am fairly noobish when it comes to phones but I have had a rooted OG EVO and now i have had a rooted EVO LTE. When i first rooted my LTE i flashed the meanbean rom and then a few months after that i decided to try out other roms suchs as CM10, Paranoid, and maybe a few others that didn't last too long. I just tried to go back to meanbean and it loaded about 75% and was just stuck. I let it sit there for about 45 minutes and nothing ever happened. I forced a restart and restored to a previous backup. When my phone booted up I noticed that it was acting funny and I later found out that some how my internal storage device was messed up. I eventually mounted my phone to my computer in TWRP and reformated so it now works as it should. I went to try and flash meanbean and it again freezes at the same spot. When i try to flash another ROM my phone beings to flash it and then it will randomly restart back into recovery. I have no idea why it is doing this. I tried to run my phone's RUU but my computer wont find my phone connected to it. When i try to use HTC Sync it also will not find my phone.
Sorry for the wall of text but at this point I am wanting to just start over completely fresh bc i feel that all of this flashing, restoring, and reformatting has really messed up my phone. Currently my phone has issues with it's calls. I sound as though i am very far away and I have never had this problem before so i am not sure where that issue is coming from.
If anyone has any kind of advice on what I should do please please help me! I can post any kind of information or clarification that is needed.
Thanks a ton in advanced!

I am not. When i try to flash the newest version from bootloader it says, "Current version is newer" (or something similar to that) and then it will just boot loop in bootloader until i delete the zip from the sdcard.
Download goomanager from the market and use option to install open recovery script
