But the download was only ~39megs.
The description was improved Voice over LTE.
Maybe this will cure my random reboots.

somebody posted it in one of my other threads i thinks it was on the ng4 tread isn't that the way we did it before full tar in mobil odin then just the firmware+modem thru pc odin

the firmware only file has the bootloader and the modem. as well as other things probably csc, the full tar file has everything. the problem is that mobile odin does not flash the bootloader so all you need to do is flash the bootloader. if you notice in beanstown thread he has firmware only file and modem only and kernel and fulltar but not bootloader only which is all you really need to flash with pc odin . i checked the phone info app and everything is on nh5. just put the bootloader file in the bl slotand flash. dont bother changing anything else in odin . there is a section that is unchecked in pc odin that says phone bootloader update. leave it unchecked i dont know what happens. if you do check it but the bootloader updates fine without ticking it.also no need to flash modem as it gets upgraded when you flash the full tar in mobile odin

If you don't care about Knox being tripped, just flash a custom recovery tar in odin, then download and flash the SU zip in the link by Chainfire. http://download.chainfire.eu/345/SuperSU/

Quite easy my friend there are files floating about and you download and keep the save... Like so many others...SIMPLE
Again if you have the rom to which you need said file if you know how to extract you could also do it this way...
Here a easy way.. Flash your stock rom once done you can backup said file to a save place and if you need root again you know what to do..
if you want the original kernel...
download your firmware @ sammobile.com
extract it (extract all .tar files)
you'll find a "factoryfs.img". in the same folder there is a "zImage".
thats your kernel...
How can i flash it?

Hi,
I've got some problem with the mini USB port and I'd like to send send it to samsung for the warranty. I need to install a stock ROM but I can't do it with Odin.
Is it possible to flash a stock ROM with a .zip through CWM?
use mobile Odin. don't forget to reset the counter.
ps our phone uses micro usb, not mini
which counter are you talking about?
is there a free version of mobile odin? I can't find it

There is in XDA , search it inside forum.
The counter he talks about is Samsung bootloader count how many times of custom ROM has been flashed in order to kill your warranty, but relax, mobile Odin doesn't increase the count.
More info about this, search "triangle away "
But be careful with firmware you flash into the phone, because triangle away is still unable to reset count number in latest bootloader

Apologies if I'm hijacking this thread, but this problem is almost exactly the same as mine. The microUSB on my S3 is also broken and I need to unroot before I send it to Samsung, however I'm having real trouble with SuperSU. It keeps saying installation failed when I open the app and am prompted to update it and I can't get Triangle Away to work as it says it is not being given superuser permissions. I figure I need Triangle Away to unroot my phone so is there any way to rectify this?

Yes the root browser only really works on rooted phones but I have looked at every sub folder as well as did a adb pull from the whole phone so far nothing.
i know this is probably a really stupid question, but i'll ask anyway. Has anybody tried plugging the phone up to a computer and tried like the mass storage type thingy?

I would post this in the root bounty forum. Believe you need a tar.md5 file for that. They have already pulled the files, think it's just a matter of compiling it. It may be a couple of days before we start seeing things like flashable files for odin or twrp and so on.

Here is the latest modem / baseband out of the latest update NH5 . Install in odin or mobile odin. I can put together NH5 firmware only if anyone needs it but im sure it will be in Beanstown106 collection of modems and firmware thread soon enough and will probably be best off in that thread
. this is just for anyone who wants the modem right now like I did.
here it is https://www.dropbox.com/s/85ss6hl4xtqj09j/nh5modem.tar.md5?dl=0
For any first timers that are using ODin on your PC I recommend that you pull your battery for 10 seconds max and then reinsert it and then boot into download mode and then install using ODIN . If you dont do this the modem wont stick .

No problems at all . The modem doesnt have to match the firmware to work properly . Also wifi calling functions fine .Whether it has improved or not I cant say . I barely use it but I can confirm it fucntions properly . As far as mobile data I think it has improved as far as stability . It really varies for everyone depending on your location . I would suggest trying them all and at least test each one for a whole day before deciding .
hmmm no doubt, ill give it a shot! thnx!

Why dont you just use a PC to flash it ... Word of advice if you flash using your PC . Make sure to pull the battery for about 10 seconds and then boot into download mode . If you dont the modem will not stick . By the way if mobile Odin factory reset your phone then you did something wrong , probably had it set to do that . If i were you I would read and investigate more before doing anything that might brick your phone ..

Yeah i was starting to thinlk that might be the case . I would post a thread in the q/a section . Make sure you go into your settings in the mobile odin app and see what options are set . I know a lot of people use mobile odin on xda so you are probably better searching in a different thread for answers.

If you dont do this the modem wont stick .

works great, thanks!
If I update to the NH5 firmware, will this also update the modem and bootloader or do I have to do these separately?
