what program is needed to make the .tar.md5 file.???for windows and for a boot loader tar you actually need 5 files=
aboot.mbn
rpm.mbm
sbl1.mbm
sdi.mbm
tz.mbm
i got that far as to what is in a bootloader .i'm stuck in formatting it to tar
what you posted about bootloader there is no sboot.bin actually in the full tar the only thing that ends in bin is modem.bin the files i just posted is what makes a bootloader .tar
fffft said:
How many threads have you posted this in now? One would have been enough.
There are existing threads that ask and answer this question, so a search would have answered it as well. For an Odin flashable modem file, extract modem.bin and nonhlos.bin from the full stock firmware and put both files into a tar archive. That is flashable, but it is good practice to use md5sum to calculate a checksum as well, resulting in a name.tar.md5 archive.
For the bootloader, it should be sboot.bin in a tar archive.

thanks what programs that run in windows would i need for tar format.???
and i don't see were you stated that you posted the name of the md5 program in your last post.???
fffft said:
No. Those are the constituent parts of the compiled binary as I (and others before me as well) posted here have posted in the past. Most recently, a month ago and would have shown up in any reasonable search. Either set in a tar format. And the name of the md5 program was already given in my last post.

good evening
my friend gave me his phone(sgs2 i777 at&t) so that i can flash for him a rom and i accidentally flashed an i9100 rom and now the phone wont flash anything.
the phone wont even boot either.
ive been trying to flash using odin
the phone is recognized by my win 7 computer and luckily i still do get the yellow bar on odin when i connect the phone.
each time a rom(.tar in pda section)(repartition unchecked) is flashed i get a fail
evin the one click odin didnt work and fails
then the phone says "Firmware upgrade encountered an issue"
the only way i can get back to download mode is when i flash the root(GalaxyS2ATTRootZedomax) via odin
i cant get into cwm nor am i sure if there is cwm or not.
I9100JPKJ2_I9100OJPKJ1_I9100XXKI4_HOME.tar.md5
this is what i flashed
it has no pit
Zedomax is outdated. Simple search would of brought you to this:

i did an extensive search, ive seen this thread before (the DL links are also blocked by FEDS)
ive tried the one click stuff and also it didnt work
I tried to download the I9100 package that you flashed to see exactly what is in it, but it was downloading at only about 10 kb/sec, so I gave up after a couple of hours. I'm guessing that the package contains everything including boot.bin, sbl.bin, param.lfs, pit and csc for the I9100, as well as the other stuff.
If you still have the tar.md5 file, open it with winzip or 7zip or something like that and report back here exactly what it contains.
Most of the files you will need to recover your phone are in the Download Repository, but there are no specific directions there about how to use them in your situation. Will try to help, but am very busy with work for the next few days, so won't be here as often as usual. Be patient.

Remove the .md5 extention leaning just the .tar extension. A tar is an archive file just like zip or any other archive. Look inside the tar and tell me what files it contains.

Go to the download repository. (Link in my signature, or in one of the posts above.)
Find and flash this Odin3 One-click Downloader:
I777UCKH7-CL503881 FULL Odin3 One-click Downloader: I777UCKH7-CL503881-Full.7z (MultiUpload - Contains I777UCKH7-CL503881-Full.exe.)
Just in case it doesn't flash successfully, please watch the results to see which elements pass and which one fails. Someone else in your situation had it fail on cache.img, but was eventually able to recover his phone.
This is no more risky than the I9100 that you flashed, but there is always some risk involved when flashing bootloaders.
I'll check in tomorrow to see what your results are.
you do realize you are supposed to EXTRACT the tar out of the zip right? i mean how can ODIN see a file thats INSIDE an archive?
not to mention you are flashing i9100 firmware/bootloaders/param.lfs, basically you are trying to ruin your phone
Try and change USB Slot?

Hi guys I would really appreciate some help with a problem I have with my UK GS3 1900. I have recently rooted and flashed it with a couple of different roms courtesy of the info on this forum and have been using lucky patcher to remove ads and license verification on a few apps I was trying. I installed SPB shell recently and used Lucky patcher on it and it seemed to have worked but this morning there was a message saying there was a problem with the license and to download another one from the playstore. Then my phone rebooted and it got stuck on boot logo so I tried to enter recovery holding down power+home+volume up but this wouldnt give me the recovery screen. I have read a lot of articles about how to reflash it with Odin but I am a little confused. I am trying to flash it with the zip file firmwares I downloaded but this obviously doesnt work as it is asking for .tar or .bin files and none of these show up when I am using ODIN. What firmware would I need to download to give me these files and then using Odin how would I install it. Any help is appreciated I have looked at all the threads before I posted this and cant find a solution. Some say to use pit files but I wasnt sure which ones and I didnt want to mess things anymore.

GT-I9300_I9300XXDLI8-OTA-I9300XXBLG8_BTU_297718496 this is the file I downloaded originally and then from another post I found this file I9300XXELL4_I9300OXAELL4_I9300XXELL4_BTU downloaded and there was KIES_HOME_I9300XXELL4_I9300OXAELL4_566833_REV00_user_low_ship.tar.md5 this file in there and when I went to flash it with ODIN it came up with an error message and it fails in Odin. Is this the correct file cos when I went into the sammobile site put it my device details it gave me a 250mb file which never had a tar or md5 file in it.
It says on sammobile download .

Partition Information Table file.
You can use this to flash things via Odin (probably not wise to do kernel or recovery due to bootloader check) - and also get details on each partition using apps like PIT Magic.
It seems that the devs from the Note 2 were able to exploit the PIT file to flash the bootloader (aboot) from T-Mobile/Sprint versions to unlock it. Anyone know how to check if the exploit exists on this one as well?
EDIT: I believe it was AdamOutler and ralekdev.

I was taking a PIT from my S4 (with MDK stock installed), and it came to be a different size. I took a new PIT because I was having issues sometimes when flashing the PIT in ODIN. Very rarely it would give an error in ODIN and I would have to reflash without a PIT and just the restore file to restore to stock.
I can attach my PIT if needed, but I have this instead for you to look at for comparison:

My MDK PIT is also a different size. I was having issues with a couple partitions after recently using this PIT so I thought id just flash a factory mdk image to clear my partitions since I was going to build a custom me7 rom to flash soon anyways. I downloaded my own mdk pit in heimdall after I flashed a factory MDK image. Oddly there's a significant difference in size between the MDK PIT's, but as far as I can tell, the actual content of both are the same. I can post mine as well, and id be interested in comparing yours to the other two. If two of them are the same we can eliminate the other.

Hey!
I first got my galaxy s6, model; SM-G920I around start of May 2015 and I rooted via CF autoroot a few days after.
Haven't done much since, however, today I decided I wanted to update my software to lollipop 5.1 and to do that I first had to unroot via SuperSU and then update via Smart Switch.
After all the preparations were completed in Smart Switch, my device failed during the process, sending me to the cyan screen saying, "An error has occured while updating the device software..." .
This incident rendered my device unrecognizable by Smart Switch and since then I have not been able to flash the stock SM-G920I ROM via odin, as it always FAILS.
tl;dr
-rooted phone
-unrooted phone for software update
-device failed during smartswitch process
-cannot flash stock via odin
Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It should be available in any 4-file firmware's CSC package. This file is named wrong, so please don't try to use it for anything.

Any help will be appreciated.
Also you said the naming is wrong and hence dont use it. Why does the file name matter so much? In the tutorial I have linked in OP they dont seem to stress on the naming. Any thoughts?

Can this PIT file be used to flash any nougat also?
Firmware is downloaded with samfirm. 4-file always got the pit in CSC package, and it also resets device compared to the 1 file firmware which doesn't include pit.
Open the csc tar.md5 as archive, and you will find cache.img, hidden.img, and the pit-file.
Pit should be same for all firmwares except for some carrier specific firmwares that includes files in hidden partition. They also got their own pit with a different name.
To be honest I don't think a pit with wrong name even can be used. Odin would deny to flash it cause it wouldn't match the pit on device.
