Need Help regarding ROM - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys i have rooted my grand quattro just now but i want to upgrade its android to 4.4 kitkat but have no idea how can someone tell me how to do so and give me all files for upgrading

You would have to check with the OEM. Other then that you could try build a romantic from aosp if the OEM is gpl compliant

cant understand what you just said i am new to all this can you tell me in a easy way on how to upgrade

There maybe no easy way unless the OEM released it. With devices like this they are seldom updated to the layaway Android version.

[Q] Google Fast Touch 10" tablet

Does anyone know anything about this tablet? My wife just got one and wanted to see if porting KitKat was possible on this device?
It comes with Android 4.2.

The tablet appears to be just another no-name brand tablet , the Google in the branding name is misleading as the device has nothing to do with Google (It's not at all an official Google branded product) other then it runs Android. As far as porting KitKat is concerned, it is possible but it will unforutnately be difficult without an official kernel source from the manufacture or your own knowledge of compiling AOSP KitKat or say Cyanogenmod 11 for an unsupported device.

If I was able to obtain kernel source would it be possible for you or anyone to build KitKat for it? How do I obtain kernel source?

In the case of your device you would have to contact the manufacture and ask them to provide you with the kernel source code, and even then if they did you would still have to undergo the process of extracting the files for your device and fixing any broken features that would likely arise during the KitKat building process.

[REQUEST] Full TWRP backup from stock MTL03

Would someone be able to provide a 100% backup from this device? I don't need user data.
Thats what I need to. Did you here here anything back.
No, I'm trying to compile cyanogenmod, but I have the consumer cellular variant. And is prefer not pulling files from it to use. I'd rather use stock.
Can you use these from @jayandcourt2

Hi,
Please check this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/asc...to-fix-soft-bricked-phone-using-twrp-t2886630
I have MT2_L03, I don't have un-rooted pure stock system anymore. But please let us know if you need anything.
Also, I have a working CWM recovery config, not sure if it helps:
https://github.com/xordos/android_device_huawei_MT2L03/tree/cm-10.2
Maybe I will post this to DEV section so more people can see it.
EDIT: post the cwm config here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/asc...-clockworkmod-recovery-config-mt2l03-t2924526
Thanks
xordos.

I know several developers have the Mate2 and were working on it. Below is the link to the kernel source code for MT2-L03. It was released on the EMUI site several months ago.

This is the source code for the ROM?
If yes, why this is a 180mb file when the ROM is like 600mb?
Could you clarify?
Thanks!
Its the source of the kernel
I am also interested in a full backup of this phone.

[Q] Upgrading a Handset OS from ICS to Jellybean

I might be talking out of the sky, but here it goes,
I have a handset Xolo X900 which was abandoned and I want to help out everyone whose Handsets were abandoned by the Companies but still able to run on latest Software so Here is my General Question
Suppose I have a Set with some version of Android and I want to upgrade it to latest , but the Phone Hardware vendor wont release it or upgrade it.
I want to be able to use the Android Source Code from Google to create a ROM or an Upgrade and bring the Handset to the Latest Version
I suppose It needs a lot but would be helpful if get some guidance from the Community to be able be free from the Vendor provided Updates for our System ,
I am ready for a Deep Dive to achieve this , but not able to find the correct Tools or Guide. , Please advice

Yes , its an x86 Android. I wonder if I can flash latest Android on it.
Its far fetched, but I wont mind trying if , someone hints on where to begin.
Custom rom will the biggest issue.
I have not found much resources on how to build one. Just couple of people who launch it and then we all use it.

How to start developing a ROM for a device?

Hi all, i've read other threads about this argument but any of them satisfied me.
I am curious about the steps to do for developing a custom ROM for an unmodded device, so for example taking the android source code and make it work on a device.
In my case, I will use a Samsung Grand Neo (GT-I9060).
How do developers manage to port a ROM to a new device? How do they make device features working? Do they use camera drivers and other drivers to reach this goal?
How to upgrade the firmware to a newer version if no newer version is released by the manufacturer?
Sorry for these nooby questions
Waiting for your answers

It has been a looong time since I knew about those things but if I remember your base ROM should have that same Android version as your port ROM.
And if you want an advice, please consider building a ROM from source. Troubleshooting is hell with ported ROMs. Building ROM is scary because it has commands that you don't know yet, but it's way more easy than porting. Trust me.
Here is a guide on how to build ROM from source :

@XdaNeko
It's NOT the version of Android what does matter. If that would be the case then an upgrade via OTA never would be possible.
A Stock ROM always at 100% matches phone's hardware ( CPU, GPU, RAM, storage memory, etc.pp ) - it's built by OEM's / Carrier's R&D department, the guys who know best of.
Whereas a Custom ROM necessarily does NOT because it gets built by 3rd-party companies/programmers associations - who think they can do it better, but don't always have the specific Android device at hand.
