Does the lg g2 mini has similar issues?
I haven't seen any of them

I confirme the guy on the last video....i have same problem. Sometimes i need to tape twice on the icone or s letter on keyboard to make it work...
i have mini dualsim....d618...
I had D620R where the screen started going nuts at its own will after having it for a week. Quick Memo was fine, but drawing a lock pattern was a pain in the neck, since the screen didn't register the motion as one continous swipe at all. That also caused misclicks while scrolling page in Chrome.
Got a warranty replacement. Worked fine for two weeks or so, but one morning I woke up and tried to unlock. Touch response went bananas again. Either a good coincidence, or I have some unorthodox usage patterns which trigger that bug eventually. The most twisted thing is that I couldn't go and reproduce the bug in any way. It just came after normal usage (and I'm using the most generic apps) and the bug just solved itself in a few hours. That was the case every time it happened. Of course I could've used another way to lock the phone as a workaround, but since the pattern lock is the most basic Android feature it's very odd that they were able to mess it up that way.
Luckily I was able to return that one also and switched to another model.
Yes there are
I got a D625 on December 20... i was sooooo happy , until december 22... :silly: the screen became not so responsive, some taps it did recognoise but some didn't, and was even worse with the swiping... making it hard to even unlock the phone, then, the next day I had no data conection... no LTE, no 3G... so today I took it to service... they will try and fix it or replace in 48hrs... the thing is I found a video on youtube wich shows that this is a common thing, maybe a capacitive issue or something...

Hi All,
Picked up a new SGT 10.1 today on the Staples deal. Well, actually two, the first suffered badly from the dust under screen issue and I returned it, cleaned out two stores in the process.
Trouble is, after the first time I engaged the orientation lock (literally the first time I locked the orientation), it no longer auto rotates when on the home screen. Worked fine for a couple hours prior to that. When I go to the camera app, it rotates (although lags sometimes, but can't tell the cause).
I've tried hard resetting multiple times with two different methods, made no difference. Searched around, found only one other person describing the problem and no solution.
Has anyone heard of this? Is there any app I can use to further test the sensor?
Thanks all!!
Try using a game that uses the sensors for movement. That should tell you pretty quickly if it's your sensors or some other software glitch.
I have got a (most likely) hardware related issue with the touchscreen of my Xperia U.
Some parts of the screen are not or barely responsive, which is very annoying when typing. I have to tap some letters twice before they actually work. (It's especially around the 'i', 'n' and 'e' when I have my keyboard open by the way.)
I was running stock Android GB and I'm now running stock Android ICS, after I updated my phone the problem was still there which is why I assume it's hardware related. There does seem to be a slight improvement though, but that's probably because ICS feels a bit faster (so far).
Like five minutes ago I noticed something very strange, when I put my finger near the 'N' on the keyboard, but not touching the screen itself, it kept touching it like 10 times a second, sometimes holding the touch so it would result in a ';', but that's not really relevant I guess. It stopped doing that after I turned the screen off and on again by the way.
Now I've downloaded a drawing app on my phone, to see if the phone would skip the parts that were responding bad, but that wasn't the case.
(I would send a picture, but I'm not allowed to send outside links as I'm a new user, sorry. )
There is a chance that this problem is caused by a kind of overpowered charger I had been using last summer, because when I plugged that in, the phone started doing the same, only waay worse. I haven't used it for almost 3 months though, and the problem occurred just a few days ago, which is pretty weird.
I can probably get a replacement touch screen for free because my brother had this phone too and he bought a new phone because the glass of his screen broke.
But I hope I don't have to use that, haha
Is there any solution to this without taking it to a service center or replacing it?
Thanks!

Lots of touchsscreen thread in the forum, search and see what they did
Hi, i have had my tablet for about 1 week, straight after starting it up i had a fw update which is 17.1.1.A.0.402 which i am assuming is the latest?
anyway i have read a lot about the new fw was supposed to fix the touch issues?
I also have the z1 which i still have and is perfect. ive recently updated to 4.4.2 on that and all my issues are fine on there.
my z2 is acting very strange, if i leave it alone for a while sometimes i will go on it and everything on the screen will be frozen, i can't tap anything, i have to press the power button and then swipe to open it again, it is then fine after that.
also i have noticed, and i think its happening a lot when my tablet is a little angled using the case, the screen will be a bit jittery, where as my z1 is really smooth, and i also sometimes have to really tap icons a few times before they register.
i play clash of clans a lot and its been a bit difficult to play as troops aren't selecting as i am tapping on them.
has anyone got any advice?
I have done a factory reset to see if that would fix any issues from the fw update but its still exactly the same.
Thanks
James

I installed the new firmware yesterday. While I notice an improvement with the touch problem it's still present. Just install an multitouch app (like this one: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.easylabs.multitouch), let your finger trail on the screen and it's definitely obvious (the number on the top right should be the number of fingers touching the screen and it's often not). I tried the same thing on my old Iconia A500 and that's the one thing where it's WAY better than the Z2.
I don't experience anything as strange as you do though, it's mostly usable and I hardly notice it with the new firmware.
I did experience something very strange just BEFORE updating with one specific charger and one specific USB cable , the tablet wouldn't register any touch at all while it's was plugged in. As soon as I unplugged it it would work. The cable was fine with another charger and vice versa;
Weirdest of it all:
This happened while I was testing the output current for each combination of cable/charger and this particular couple was the one giving the "best" results; consistently between 1.1A and 1.2A
I can't reproduce this behaviour with the new firmware. All in all, it's usable for me. Biggest bug would be it not charging while playing power consuming games.
I have found mine goes more weird when it goes to sleep and i then wake it up, the screens sensitivity seems to be terrible, i have topress the off button and then start it again then its fine.
it will then mostly stay fine until the screen times out again then the same thing will happen when i wake it.
James: Same with my 521...
Touchscreen response was REAL BAD after updating to .402, then it went better and better day by day; strange phenomenon.
I also occasionally experience some touchscreen "numbness" after waking up the table with a double-tap, sometimes touch sensitivity suddenly becomes quite low just without any reason; touchscreen has problems detecting touches near the screen corners or doesn't react to touches at all. Solution: Switch to standby, and back on.
At the same time, the Android symbols (Back, Home, last apps) again become difficult to hit.
You can test this by slowly swiping your finger up from the lower bezel towards one of the symbols: If the touchscreen is ok, symbols get highlighted right after your finger reaches the lower edge of the symbol. If the touchscreen malfunctions, you need to move your finger up to the center of the symbols to get them highlighted.
So it smells like a software issue.
Touchscreen problems usually occur two to three times a day of normal use; so I regard it as acceptable - but the problem still isn't fully solved.
I would say it's a hardware issue which Sony attempts to counterbalance with software patches.
Just like on the Nexus7 (2013). There sfhub released a touchscreen fix which made the problem bearable for most users (with some experimenting with different versions of the fix, because each device is different).
I wrote a PM to sfhub asking him whether he could disclose how his fix works so that Z2 Tablet users perhaps could apply a similar, variable, tailor-made fix to their individual device.
No response, unfortunately.
Perhaps some of you could send the same request to him, and perhaps then he reacts?
every now and then, after double tap to wake, the tablet is extremely unresponsive.
I also just sleep/wake up again via power button and it's fine after that.
So my but feeling it's a software issue, not hardware issue.

I never had touch problems but after updating to the latest firmware, the tablet is unusable from time to time
what's annoying me is that Sony wont seem to admit that there is an issue, i was talking on their live chat to support and they said that's the first time anyone's mentioned that and isn't on any list of any known issues
Which doesn't fill me with confidence on how quick this may get fixed.
The speed in which is gets fixed may determine if i just send the tablet back to Amazon for a full refund, unfortunately i have bought the Sony case and magnetic charger now as well
I'm just really puzzled what to do, what can i do apart from sent it back if Sony wont even acknowledge they are aware of the problem and will release a fix soon
The only thing is because i have now bought the charger and case, i kinda want to keep it.
It was a direct replacement for my Z1 which i still have, and that is also updated to 4.4.2 now, but that shows no touch issues at all.
What's very interesting and revealing:
When Sony was addressed a few days ago regarding battery problems on Tablet Z and a few phones after the Kitkat update, they immediately reacted!
They readily explained that it is a problem with the Google Play Services running amok and that a fix will come.
But it seems that just because this here is a Sony problem (and not one for which another company can be blamed like in the above one), Sony simply doesn't react at all and obviously orders the service employees to lie and say that they haven't heard at all of a touch problem.
Boooo, Sony, shame on you!

HAHA ! Exactly the same in Germany. Even after talking about that issue with the SAME person three days in a row, I still was told the problem was totally unknown.
Later, I had a more private talk with one of the support guys. He revealed to me there was an order from Sony to tell callers exactly that.
Ah, as I thought.
This is abysmal behavior by Sony, period.
Also on the Sony support forum, none of the official support staff has replied to any of the topics about touch screen issues. It seems they are just completely burying their heads in the sand...
FW .402 didnt fix the touch screen issue. It is noticeably better than any FW from before.
Gosh, the touchscreen keep going back to home when i'm in a middle of fb conversatuion.
I was testing with chromecast +youtube: those swibe action to enlarge or fade out afe 99% imprecise...

Are you sure you're not just accidentally touching the home button while typing? That happens to me from time to time, which is a downside of having the navigation buttons centered compared to having them in the corner like on pre-4.4 Android tablets. I actually think Google should add a setting to choose if the navigation buttons on tablets are in the left corner, centered, or in the right corner. Having them centered also makes it awkward to reach these buttons when holding the tablet with two hands.
I recently got my lg v10 on Sunday and everything was working great than all of a sudden yesterday my mini view stopped working and can't get it to work. I've done everything could think of restarting the phone, pulling the battery, letting it fully die and charge it. Turned the setting off than back on and nothing. Yes the setting is turned on and it won't work. I must be the only one with this issues cause I can't find a solution anywhere.
Factory reset?

I lost my Mini View after unlocking the bootloader/rooting. I have been looking for a way to get it back myself.
the mini view is the second screen correct?
Same here.. Happened on Day 2. I haven't been able to get it back since. All stock. Tried everything short of a factory reset.. I really dont want to have to go back and restore everything. This along with random reboots (6 so far) have me questioning the software on this phone.. Strange given its so similar to the G4 software wise..you'd imagine there wouldn't be this many bugs initially.
After I used my cleaner (AMC security) mini started working and then it stopped again
I thought only me having this problem lol. My mini view is suddenly not working as well. It just happens today on my 8th day having this phone. Looking for a way to get it back.
Hopefully, there will be a solution soon....
As someone has mentioned, do a master reset.
Take it back and exchange it.
When you slide your digit across the nav bar make sure it touches the side rail. I thought mine was acting up until I discovered that. Also you don't have to slide it across the whole bar, usually I just start at the square and slide to the right since I'm right handed.

this is my 2nd LG V10 (I had to return the first due to poor audio quality and overheating issues)
but I did not have issues with mini view until I received this one
now on this 2nd device it started acting up within just a few hours of receiving it
(both my devices are stock no rooting done)
so now whenever I would try to use mini view
it won't register touch at all!
my whole phone would freeze up and not allow me to do anything!!!
I had to do 3 battery pulls and a factory reset before I just disabled the mini view completely
that seemed to temporarily fix the issue
however its annoying now that I can't use this function
I am ok with it because I never really used it to begin with but I am not returning yet another phone for this reason lol
hoping an update will fix a lot of issues that we've come across with this device because I really love it!

I was having the same problem and it turns out apparently I wasn't doing the gesture properly. Thanks for the tip, mrwinkle!! That works every time now. Now, hopefully LG will make a subtle change that lets us just swipe across the buttons instead of edge-to-edge...

Eventually i went back to the store. The representative exchanged a new phone for me and mini view is now working. However, i need to install all my apps and customise my phone once again, despited that the representative used 1.5 hour to back up and restore my phone data.
That sucks @2_6 - but at least it's done. How much do you have to back up that it took an hour and a half??!! I thought I had a lot at nearly 30 gig's, but it only took 20(ish) minutes or so.
I love the Mini-View - makes it a cinch to use the phone with my thumb if the left hand is doing/holding something else. I can even activate the Mini-View with my thumb if I swipe fast enough from the < to the right edge of the screen. But it's got to be fast and straight.

I hv around 25 gb storage need to be transfered. I thought the respenstive should be very familiar to this task as they sell a lot of mobiles everyday, so i let them handle for me . They use a otg flash dish to back up and transfer my data. And they told me to pick up the phone 1hr later ( i still waited for 20mins when i went back to the store). What i do not expect is the back up do NOT include apps.........
The mini views is useful for single hand. Normally i start swipe from the middle to the edge.
That's a long time.
I'm thinking your phone waited for the process while other phones were ahead of you.
Disable Switch access and reboot. Now mini view gesture work again
I bought a Mate 20 Pro on preorder and noticed within a few days a seemingly non-responsive part of the screen that was an intermittent issue.
Basically every now and again (often enough it’s annoying but not every time) after I unlock the display I am unable to select any app icons in the lower half of the touchscreen. The top half is fine - the home buttons are fine but everywhere from the middle down is non responsive.
I assumed a hardware fault so amazon replaced it for me - and the new device is exactly the same!
Am I just super unlucky and have managed to get two faulty devices a month apart from Amazon or is something else causing the issue?
Thanks.
Think you've just been unlucky, nothing like that on mine
Fine here too. I assume you tested this as soon as you got the phone before installing any app / custom launcher?
Have you tried running smart diagnostic tests manual mode in hicare, there's a touchscreen display test.
Sent from my HUAWEI LYA-L09 using XDA Labs
I only noticed it in use after I used a custom launcher however I tried multiple launchers and saw the same behaviour.
I just did the HiCare test and it says normal. I did hard reset it the other day and it hasn’t happened since so I will see if anything else happens. I can’t say I am thrilled by the thought of another swap from amazon if it does happen. That’s super bad luck.
Hi how did it go after the hard reset?
I got the same issue myself but instead of being the lower half, my entire screen does not respond to touch. I've done a hard reset my self and i do run the stock launcher. Even though my screen still doesn't respond to touch now and then after unlocking the screen or receiving a phone call.
Touchscreen issue
Yup I get it annoyingly so as well! Often takes a "double tap". Pain in the ace!
