[Q] Z2 automatically deactivates mobile data and WiFi - Xperia Z2 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Sony Z2 automatically deactivates mobile data and/or WiFi.
I have not been able to detect any pattern or logical explanation.
Why does it do that?
"Stamina mode" is off.

great answer, thank you
1) I will try Setting >> WiFi > Advance > Keep WiFi On During Sleep.
2) no WiFi related apps, no changes in settings (other than default)

Edge/Internet using up all my balance, How to ensure Vibrant remains offline?

Hi guys,
is there any way I can ensure that any of my apps/ syncs / anything does not access internet through whatever mean until I say otherwise?
At home I have Wifi, so it isnt an issue, when I hit the road (I have disabled Data roaming and appl syncs), every now and then, Vibrant starts connecting via Edge and just runs through my Balance
I run Advanced task killer every now and then, still no help.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks.
Power control widget allows you to easily turn sync off. It should be already installed. Long press on your home screen, choose widget, and look for power control. Hope this helps.

that was one of the first things i tried...
I use Quick Settings to turn off mobile data when I don't need it. I then turn off wifi when I'm out of range of work and home and only turn those back on when I'm going to explicitly use them.
I'm more of an "update when I tell you to" kind of user so this may or may not work for you.
I'm running Android 2.2 and forget if it was available in 2.1 as well but...
Try looking under Menu -> Settings-> Wireless and Networks -> Mobile Network Settings, uncheck "Use packet data".
This should disable all internet access over the cellular modem while still allowing WiFi (when turned on). No extra apps / widgets, etc necessary.

[Q] Enable Always-On mobile-data

Hi,
I'm a new Android-User and a new Forum-User. I got a x10 mini pro this week. I'm wondering why my device must be always connected? It has to update my mail-accounts always one time per hour. On other systems this is normal: The internet connection is established when used.
I found this out by google search: There should be this setting: Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Enable always-on mobile data. That is just what I'm looking for. But on my device there isn't such an option.
It's a x10 mini pro from sony ericsson. Newest SE-Firmware-Version (2.0.2.A.0.24 Android 2.1) Why do I don't have this option? Is where another solution for this problem? I don't like to switch data-connection off an on by myself. The device is rooted. Any suggestions for an app that can do that? I've tried JuiceDefender but it doesn't actually do what I want.
thanks for your help.
Always On Data
Huh?
But the applications let you tell it how often to check for updates? There were a few the last time I checked.

Hi, i believe that you refer to "data traffic" option. "data traffic" option enables/disables your phone data traffic, that is, enables/disables you mobile internet.
You can find this option in:
Settings > Wireless & networks > Mobile networks > Data Traffic
When you disable (uncheck) "Data traffic" you wont be able to use at all mobile internet untill you enable it again.
To help you with fast enable/disable data traffic there is also a stocked widget that allows you to turn on/off data traffic, its called "Data Traffic". To put it on one of home screens, long press on one of the home screens, then meny will pop with bunch of options, select: Widgets > Data traffic. And wola!! You have it on home screen.
That way you dont need to go trough all the longer process on entering settings menu.
Anyway, i dunno why you wanna disable it, it eats very little of internet, and i find it useful bunch of times.
Good morning Thanks for your replies.

I run only few applications like k9 mail. They can do that.

No I don't refer to that option. This widget is already on my screen. But with this I have to enable and disable it manually.
On the big X10 should be the always on option. You can check out this link: <can't post this link, cause' I'm a new user >
I wonder if I can manage to set this in the system files without being able to tick this in the settings.

It started to work today after one more reflash to stock a lots of reboots and long time without battery (without power supply).
It was really weird... Only data connection. The mobile data connection icon never showed in notification bar. Everithing else calling and sending sms was OK. And when a opened Settings/About Phone/Status the Mobile network type was "unknown".
I will keep eye on the data icon
I suppose the baseband is refleshed with the refleshing to stock using PCCompanion... or not?
I also considered some provider trouble... but seems unlikely to me.
..JusT Try 2 Help..
Check here..Setting > Mobile & Networks > Tick for Data Enable..
Then Check here too..Setting > Mobile & Networks > Access Point Name..
Is there provider internet setting list there..?
Try this for internet provider setting download..Setting > Soy Ericsson > Setting Download..OK..
Or you can set it manually if you know the setting for Access Point Profile or for the VPN Profile..
Everything has been tried of course ...more than twice Settings was definitely OK.
I hope this trouble will not appear again :-S

tethering > x10 mini pro > not working while the phone is locked

Hi!
I have nAa-s really good kernel and gingerbread minicm7 2.2.1, and the wireless tethering is working flowlessly until the phone goes to standby or until im lockin it. Simply, the signal drops while the phone is locked or is in standby mode, actually theese two is the same.
When the phone is pluged in i still have no problem.
So i need to set somehow the wireless signal emitter port to stay awake whyle the phone is locked.
Any ideeas? Thanks in advance.
You just have to set the brightness to minimum and the screen timeout as high as you can, sorry. There's no fix for this

Are you tried this:
Settings > Wireless & networks > Wi-Fi settings > Menu button > Advanced > Wi-Fi sleep policy > select "Never"
Maybe this is why the wifi turn off when the screens go off. I'm not sure if works

WiFi Disconnect

I am currently connected to WiFi via SSID. How do I disconnect that current connection?
You should be able to see the list of remembered networks in Settings->Wifi Settings on the watch. Scroll down the list and the option should pop up.

Thanks for the reply, but I did not want to change the settings but wanted remove a WiFi connection.
Since I am on BL, can not find a benefit for having it. Do not want it just seeking other WiFi signals.

Turning off Cloud Sync in the Android Wear app will disable the wifi connection.

Just found in the settings a On or OFF mode. That was simple.
